Dh went for a Covid test so that if the put of hours needed to be call he could say he was Covid free. He is. Thankfully.

He's feeling a lot better. I still think it's gallbladder related.

Ds was great company, my mum enjoyed herself. Dd had a lovely day at work then got extremely drunk.

rookiemere · 26/12/2020 12:50

Quite a sad moment when I told DH that I'd walk the dog with a friend this afternoon. He brightened up and said "Oh good that means I can do what I want" until he realised that with the gym, shops, pubs and restaurants closed and the weather too grim to go outside, he could do very little. He has found a DIY project that he can get started with so has now cheered up.

Sturmundcalm · 26/12/2020 13:10

glad your DH is starting to feel better @Groovee

Morrisons is def open today.

@rookiemere - I had the same kind of feeling as your DH, not sure I really want to do anything that much but did get a "trapped" feeling at one point this morning when I realised I didn't really have any choice! we've been tier 2 throughout so normal shops and cafes have now been lost to me Wine

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/12/2020 13:13

That's encouraging news about DH @groovee. Maybe encourage him to see someone during the week?

We are having a repeat Christmas dinner today albeit a wee bit later than yesterday, just going to pop the turkey/stuffing into the slow cooker to heat and it will be ready whenever we do the veg and roasties :)

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 26/12/2020 13:18

Groovee good to hear your DH is feeling better.

rookiemere I hear you the thought of weeks ahead with nothing but very muddy walks (& bloody minecraft Hmm) for the kids is quite sobering. I’m normally the weirdo happily crafting etc with the kids but I can’t do it without structure & no structure because Christmas. Once I can impose Martial law here again I’ll feel better Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin

anon444877 · 26/12/2020 13:19

Briefly contemplated going outside but cold enough putting the rubbish out today! No idea what to do with the kids - come outside, it's cold, wet and windy.

Justmuddlingalong · 26/12/2020 13:23

We had a windswept and rainy walk along the beachfront earlier. It blew away the brain fog of yesterday's overeating and sofa snoozing, but it seems today will just be more of the same.

Bytheloch · 26/12/2020 13:42

Happy Boxing Day and return to Level or dirty Tier 4 to you all. Xmas Grin
Storm Bella is dancing around outside, so not even leaving the house today. Leftovers with all the cheese it is then, followed by sloth-like guilt from not even having a quick trot around the block.

I’ve heard via two friends now (who also heard from friends...so can’t guarantee if any truth left in it) there’s to be a booze aisle close off ahead of Hogmanay. So when the essential shops are reopen tomorrow, stock up now if you intend to drown sorrows into 2021.

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/12/2020 13:48

I think we have alcohol aplenty to last into March though DS2 made a good inroads into his 4 crates of cider (and 2 of mine...Hmm) yesterday. He's just got up and made himself a tin of curry (don't ask) with microwave rice so clearly not suffering too much.

rookiemere · 26/12/2020 13:48

Yeah we had talked about going to Cramond so DS could practice his 5km for Duke of Edinburgh, but after being out in horizontal hail I think we'll give that a miss.
Trying hard not to be jealous or think evil thoughts about school acquaintances off to Dubai - rich enough to avoid any downsides from it.

dancemom · 26/12/2020 13:54

Ah dirty Tier 4, how I have missed you ... welcome back everyone

Rae36 · 26/12/2020 13:58

Ah well, at least we're all in it together this time.
I am attempting to work out the rules to some stupidly complicated board game. The kids opened the box and went away and I am now playing alone. Still on the setting up phase, it's going to take a while

randomsabreuse · 26/12/2020 14:04

It was very quiet for our little walk at 9 ish - got out in mildly miserable weather rather than current torrential downpour.

rookiemere · 26/12/2020 14:11

Rae36 we have Pandemic- bought before it became ironically prophetic- and last time DH attempted to read out the instructions I fell asleep and DS slinked quietly out of the room.
We are attempting a meat fondue this evening so that's quite enough set up for me .

Bytheloch · 26/12/2020 14:47

I’ve tried a cheese I bought in a panic when I managed to shop in a really quiet time in the supermarket. It was just so lovely and quiet, I actually browsed the cheeses, that was my error. I can’t now untaste it. Cheese with spiced rum, anyone?

(I’d like a meat fondue, now you’ve mentioned it.)

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 26/12/2020 15:11

friend's son is a policeman. been busy turning people away from the (non-existent) border. People crying, begging to be allowed to see their parents, saying they'll pay the fine, but the police are saying 'no'. He hates it but its his job, he says. Plus apparently political pressure for Police Scotland to be seen to be doing something.

Bytheloch · 26/12/2020 15:25

Angry so, so wrong, particularly since I know of three cars who travelled down to be with family in England. Not stopped going that way. They are single people here, who have primarily gone for caring/mental health reasons, will they be stopped returning home?
I’ll save my rage over this until another day. Trying to be festive.

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/12/2020 15:28

That's terrible about the border. DS is hoping to meet with his gf next week to go for a walk and exchange their gifts, they have been living together at uni. We've not seen anyone though her family did have a short meet up on Xmas day with other family members. Adjoining council areas. Its hard to think that he now has to work out how many miles away from the border her house is as she doesn't drive and he doesn't want to break the law.

StatisticallyChallenged · 26/12/2020 15:57

I can't believe they're actually patrolling the border.

tinseltitsbumfannythelot · 26/12/2020 16:03

What a load of bollocks.

OP posts:
anon444877 · 26/12/2020 16:27

Doesn't that just fill you with joy for the future re the 'border', sympathies for the police having to enforce that steaming pile over Christmas.

And... back to the big pile of Italian cheeses dh got me for Christmas!

Oliv5 · 26/12/2020 16:30

Wow! That's awful.
Very lazy day here, sale shopping online and eating chocolate.

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/12/2020 16:38

2nd day of Christmas dinner in motion, roasties are in. I have inadvertently found an even better thing to cook them in this year due to a happy substitute from Sainsburys. I'd ordered Lard which I usually mix with sunflower oil to get a nice high smoke point and they substituted me a jar of ghee. Was initially sceptical but decided to try it - OMG! Now my roasties are generally pretty good even if I do say myself, but these are another level.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 26/12/2020 16:47

Ooh ghee sounds great - I always use goose fat.

Patrolling the border would be funny if it wasn’t so bloody depressing, OTOH at least they’re not being sent to take on the British Navy...

We’re doing second Xmas dinner tomorrow night - popcorn in front of a film then fruit crumble is the plan for today Xmas Grin

DollyMixtureLulus · 26/12/2020 16:47

This weather is shocking, I thought we weren't supposed to get Bella?
