Released from our dirty T4, but still bamboozled. Let’s keep each other sane on here...

I’m very shallow so obsessed by keeping my hair nice. Sourced illicit hairdressers and dye throughout. They can take my freedom but they’ll never make me have natural hair!

Mrsjayy · 16/12/2020 11:12

She won't want too obviously 🙄 even whats her face has stopped doing her voice overs for the announcements thats how bad its getting!

Mrsjayy · 16/12/2020 11:13

illicit hairdressers Grin

NotAnActualSheep · 16/12/2020 11:21

@WaxOnFeckOff

Banning crackers any bigger than regulation size and a nationwide gravy boat shortage?
Xmas Grin Xmas Shock

Has she been snooping on us and realised that we may be, just slightly, taking the piss with our Christmas plans and 2m crackers?! That's just being safe, surely.

Yeah, OK... There is considerable potential for stepping up, granted.

Balls.

Hahaha I love that. My sister had her hairdresser drop off dye every few weeks during lockdown.
JamesMoriarty · 16/12/2020 11:51

Politics live just said Christmas arrangements won't change but the final wording is being worked on...

Dinnafashyersel · 16/12/2020 11:56

Aah I see. Now a Live Politics issue whether we call it Xmas, Christmas, Happy Holidays, Santa, Father Christmas or just stick with Weight of the World Jason and trusty Elf 'n Safety Nicla.

JamesMoriarty · 16/12/2020 11:59

I heard it referred to as "the mass super spreader event" on the news last night 😂

Bikingbear · 16/12/2020 12:00

I think they know to cancel it now is bound to either end up with increased suicides and people ignoring the bans. And as was pointed out once people ignore once it's easy to ignore again and keep pushing the boundaries.

DH thinks SG will ban alcohol sales between Christmas and NY. I think that would have a massive backlash. However I do think they'll issue clear guidelines that it's one bubble, no every house meeting 2 others.

Dinnafashyersel · 16/12/2020 12:08

Just done the UoG Christmas Quiz so as not to feel left out of all the work "dos".

Did you know that in 1640 the Scottish Parliament made Yule Holidays illegal? December 25 did not become a public holiday in Scotland till 1958. So think on and be thankful for your present day crackers. Xmas Shock

Dinnafashyersel · 16/12/2020 12:13

They can ban Yuletide alcohol sales now if they like. I am just back from the supermarket with my Bitter and Twisted celebratory Ale.

Compliance is very much on the wane in my locale already. Mostly only Performance Compliance if anyone is watching.

Bikingbear · 16/12/2020 12:13

Was that not something to do with churches and the reformation- I might be talking nonsense.
But I also thought it was to keep alcohol away from Christmas hence New Year became the big Scottish celebration

I knew about the 1958, my mum remembers my Dad working on Christmas day.

celtiethree · 16/12/2020 12:13

Has the Scot Gov Cases by Neighbourhood map changed colour for everyone else?? Send to have changed to muted shades of blue/vague purple??? Rather than the red/amber/yellow of before? Is this to make the inconsistency of numbers vs level less obvious???

NotAnActualSheep · 16/12/2020 12:14

"the mass super spreader event"
Xmas Shock Xmas Angry FFS! True meaning of Christmas and all that...

SG will ban alcohol sales between Christmas and NY
And what could possibly go wrong with that!? ! Not a chance of anyone panic buying booze before Christmas at all, is there?

I do think the guidelines over bubbles is sensible, though. I think people have grasped that you can't see 2 households on one day, 2 the next and so on, but I'm not sure the right conversations are being had that if you see one household one day and one the next, they can't then also see another household on another day. It is confusing and a bit illogical, granted, but logic has never been the strong point of these restrictions...

Bikingbear · 16/12/2020 12:19

Sheep I know banning alcohol would be nuts.

I don't think people really are grasping the one bubble thing. A triangle would be a better way to put it, rather than a bubble. And they need to make clear the isolating rules after it if someone is diagnosed positive.

anon444877 · 16/12/2020 12:33

People have been panic buying alcohol for most of December! I can't see them doing anything so politically 'courageous'

NotAnActualSheep · 16/12/2020 12:49

Yes, it has changed for me too celtie. I think it may be because they've now got too many groupings for their previous colours! It kind of makes sense, as previously they grouped "small" numbers as "1-4 cases" for privacy, but given the neighbourhoods are generally quite small, you could kind of tell how many people it actually was by the "per 100000" grouping colour anyway. Any more than 4 cases in our 3000ish neighbourhood (so, possibly a family all testing positive) always turned us red, so the colours below that were pretty much 1, 2 or 3 people! Also, as it didn't go higher than red (over 100 per 100000?) it wasn't helpful at identifying "actual" high transmission areas.
StatisticallyChallenged · 16/12/2020 12:52

Another one who kept up with the hair dye through lockdown - I have naturally very dark hair (which doesn't suit me) but I started going grey at the front too which looks dreadful. It's not nice grey because of the contrast. I'm a fake red head and staying that way.

Rae36 · 16/12/2020 13:40

My hair dye is from Asda so I managed to keep my standards up the whole time. Apart from the time I bought a brand I'd never really heard of before because it was on special offer and I ended up very very red instead of golden brown. That was unfortunate.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/12/2020 13:44

I managed to maintain my standards, I just have very low standards :o

WouldBeGood · 16/12/2020 13:49

@WaxOnFeckOff I have very low standards for most things, like parenting, but never hair and make up 😃

Dinnafashyersel · 16/12/2020 13:49

English DH just informed me Oliver Cromwell also banned Christmas in 1644. England restored it again in 1660 though.

anon444877 · 16/12/2020 13:54

I wish we still did wassailing, sounds like fun. Not in these grim covwellian times clearly.

WouldBeGood · 16/12/2020 13:56

It’s all very puritanical.

I see Wales going back to full lockdown on Christmas Eve...

Have we heard about here yet? Can’t find it

WouldBeGood · 16/12/2020 13:57

I think I’m definitely buxom enough for hearty wassailing.

I’d like a nice cloak for it too
