Released from our dirty T4, but still bamboozled. Let’s keep each other sane on here...

I'm already less fevery but then I was yesterday too. Only had one dose so far but very hopeful for quick recovery. No real appetite so leaving the menfolk to sort themselves and I might have some soup. Started watching Game of Thrones yesterday as we treated ourselves to the box set as an early christmas present with nectar points. It wasn't real money so doesn't need wrapped or saved until Christmas - that's definitely the rules. Will watch that with dinner/soup Smile

Wbeezer · 13/12/2020 16:37

We had to collect DS2 as the direct bus route was axed during lockdown in a rather sneaky move by Stagecoach, he used to be able to travel by bus virtually door to door. Any public transport involves umpteen changes now.
@WaxOnFeckOff I remember student Xmas holidays when DH (then DBF) regularly used to eat two Christmas dinners, an early one at his house and then an evening one at my house, being a skinny ravenous youth he usually managed it fine!

Bytheloch · 13/12/2020 18:14

Heard on news about Germany going into a lockdown to cover rest of Dec into Jan. The detail though is, people can still meet indoors (up to 5 people, children don’t count in that number) which I find an interesting rule given that they’re shutting all other sociable places down. That’s surely got to be better for the mental health of the nation more than our draconian rules- it enables families to make their own risk assessment on who they see? E.g.Not forced to a restaurant to see parents and then if restaurants are closed you have nowhere to meet. Unless I’ve completely misunderstood the small print on that?

That was the same as the German lock down light rules, I found that interesting too as the complete ban on having anyone round is what I've found hardest out of all of the many restrictions.

Mrsjayy · 13/12/2020 19:29

The not having anybody in your house is ridiculous you should have been able to have a "bubble" it was fine in the summer you could sit in the garden but bloody Nora its freezing now.

runningpink · 13/12/2020 19:45

Friends child is now isolating after a case at nursery. The children are all in groups so not mixing with each other but the whole class are having to isolate. So really keeping them in separate groups is pointless!

Bikingbear · 13/12/2020 19:54

I've often wondered what the logic was for saying you can only meet in a restaurant (place with till) and being surrounded by loads of other people vs saying you can meet a limited number of people in a house.

I did suspect it was as much to do with keeping the economy going as anything else. But it's another penalty for the less well off. Just the same as October week, stay at home, unless you have a holiday booked.

WouldBeGood · 13/12/2020 20:01

I think actually you’re less likely to be in close contact in a restaurant. In homes there’s less room, no supervision and more people likely to be in a small space. Not that I care, but I think that’s the reasoning, so I think pubs and restaurants should open.

DS’ school has a policy where it’s not a whole class isolating but close contacts within the prescribed parameters. Much better, and so far so good...!

polarisation · 13/12/2020 20:25

Has anyone illegally attended a ticketed event in another council? I say that... We illegally attended Kelvingrove on Saturday and gave an address to sign up and didn't get turned away. Folk on Facebook saying itison are cancelling people's tickets if they're not in the same council?!

We've got something rebooked on 2nd Jan because I thought they couldn't possibly be so joyless as to lock us down on our bank holiday but now I'm not so sure. Travelling with baby and toddler so wouldn't want to drive an hour to get KB'd, but all they're saying is "please follow government advice at all times" which sounds a lot like "please give us your money but try not to get arrested"

runningpink · 13/12/2020 20:42

@WouldBeGood we were under impression that was also the case that it would just be close contacts but clearly not.

Bytheloch · 13/12/2020 20:47

I have tickets for something next weekend, not in my Council but in a fellow T3 who should also be a T2 going by the gov criteria. I’m assuming they would have been in contact already with anyone not with an address in that tier? The events couldn’t be sustained with only folk from the local area, so I’m also assuming they are letting people make their own decisions on attending their ‘covid safe’ premises perhaps to recoup their financial outlay for making them safe in the first place So, I’ll let you know next week what happens when we turn up in real life!🤔

DS1 School only isolated close contacts, so about half the class.
DS2 Nursery they decided to complety split the bigger classes up. I think it was a headache trying to do it and it involved a some families swapping days. But it then means the classes are half the size they were.

I haven't tried to do a ticketed event outwith the council area. I think they would knock you back, non-refundable and a car with unhappy kids.
I think online is the only way the LO will see a SantaXmas Sad

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/12/2020 20:53

Story in our local press about the Tory MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife standing up for Stirling re the unfair level allocation. I'm glad someone is. I still can't fathom the "no alcohol" even when having a meal. This level of micromanagement and lack of trust is doing my nut in.

Bikingbear · 13/12/2020 20:57

They are complete control freaks and it a sign of what is to come if Scotland does gain any form of independence.

I am sad to say I voted for in the last referendum. But I was turning against the idea before Covid. However Covid and SNP have successfully turned me into a Royalist and Unionist!

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/12/2020 21:03

Was just checking to see if there was likely to be a decently timed sighting of the ISS from scotland for Christmas but it looks like it's passing mainly in the morning so not so good. There was a well timed one a few years ago when it crossed the sky just after teatime on Christmas Eve. I got all the kids in the street out to watch it. They totally bought into it, one wee lad swearing he could see rudolph. :o

Just a bit of fun but maybe bear in mind to check for future years if you still have young kids.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/12/2020 21:04

Speaking of Royalist, did you see Charles and Camilla were apparently told they weren't welcome to come to Balmoral?

You shouldn't be sad or apologise. We all made what we thought the best decision for us was at the time. Things change.

Not seen this, is it maw and paw who are saying this? Or the local community?

Nicola "reminded" Buckingham palace of the regulations around travel. C&C don't want to cause trouble.

randomsabreuse · 13/12/2020 21:24

Anyone reckon I could justify an "educational, pre-booked" visit to Blair Drummond next weekend, from Eastern edge of East Dunbartonshire. Booked a long time ago when they announced unprecedented winter opening...

Trying to break up DH's weekend on call for the kids!

Pretty certain I could avoid most of the motorway, probably all of it.

Kids need something fun to do.

Honestly that’s hilarious what’s the point of being royal if you can’t do whatever the fuck you want Grin

I really miss Kelvingrove it’s very tempting (but terribly terribly wrong obviously Wink) although I hated other well loved places with masks on & having to keep the kids right beside you rather than let them explore etc etc

We live near Edinburgh Zoo and went to their Christmas Night on Friday. It was hooching in the car park but well organised for spacing out and queuing for things. Felt very safe.

If my nursery have to isolate this week it won't include me. I'm on special leave. Organising a funeral in tier 3 is so bloody hard. I have to say the hospital were amazing at letting us visit and say goodbye. Even the 3am call they were offering us cups of tea etc. I cannot thank them enough x

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/12/2020 21:31

Sad to hear your news @groovee - Covid times funerals are hard.

polarisation · 13/12/2020 21:33

Gibbons we were there 11am on Saturday and it was pretty empty, we hardly met anyone the whole way round and didn't feel like we had to keep 3yo on too tight a leash - in fact a bit easier than when it's busy and there's more folk to lose her in! But yes, everything is shit in a mask.

I can't gauge whether the other folk who are taking the risk of just going to booked stuff out with their area are just not talking too much about it. The Facebook mum groups are full of folk trying to flog tickets for things or get refunds, but I suspect anyone saying they went anyway and got in would get slaughtered by covigilantes.
