The last referendum was so unpleasant.

DS is half English and got really upset about it.

I think people are scared to say they don’t support the SNP so the polls may be off.

I won’t vote for them at the moment because if their misogyny anyway.

RaspberryCoulis · 01/12/2020 16:47

DH is English. Obviously that makes the kids half English too, my eldest was about 6 when we moved up and he still has quite a southern accent. He hated 2014 and the rabid nastiness of some of the Yessers.

Bikingbear · 01/12/2020 16:49

Matilda I don't care who gets the money the bottom line is it's a bribe. To try and buy votes and to make people forget the mess in the beginning.

NHS Scotland was completely unprepared. Remember the beginning when PPE stockists wouldn't sell PPE to Scotland because it was already part of NHS Englands reserved stock. Where was Scotland's reserved stock??

I'm sure the staff who were facing covid with inadequate PPE would much rather they had been better protected at the time than being given £500 nearly a year later.

Btw do the Dentists get any money? Are they open yet? Was there not comments that many could go under because of lack of funding.

But super we can afford to give out fanny pads and £500 bonuses.

@haggisaggis

I'm lurking on this thread but had to post *@StatisticallyChallenged* I love your cats! Our Maine Coon boy had to get pts about 2 months ago. He was only 6 and a giant, cuddly ball of fluff. (unless you were a rabbit or a squirrel!)
Oh @haggisaggis I'm so sorry. They're such wonderful creatures. Mine have been totally indoor until we moved 3 months ago, we've now got a cat proof back garden but they couldn't hunt for toffee.

I hope you are able to have another in your life soon. They're very special cats.

WouldBeGood · 01/12/2020 17:01

The dentists do get money I believe

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/12/2020 17:02

God the thought of another bloody referendum. The country needs to recover economically and socially not be torn apart even more

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/12/2020 17:03

You lot move fast. I'm not caught up, but just popping my head round the door to say hello. I thought we were going to go up (down?) a level today, but have a stay of execution.

I very much enjoyed the cat photos. My hairy (oh so bloody hairy) pussy is snoozing on the couch next to me, but will be a useless first footer as she is white, and also only ever goes out the front door if one of us is putting a bin out. Can a first footer come through the back door?

Matilda2013 · 01/12/2020 17:05

To be honest I feel the care home staff deserve the money more than NHS just due to the services grinding to a halt in the NHS and people being paid much less in the care sector. I just didn't like the suggestion that the people receiving the money (with only NHS mentioned) should be expected to donate it. We all know it's a bribe but the government decided to do it and not all members of the NHS are highly paid and can do without the £500.
And yes dentists are included.

haggisaggis · 01/12/2020 17:09

@StatisticallyChallenged - I'm sure we'll get another one eventually. They are exceedingly special animals - not sure you can call them cats, they have such different personalities! Yours could hunt I'm sure - our boy was at least 3rd generation from totally indoor cats but the hunting gene was very strong!

anon444877 · 01/12/2020 17:10

Can't disagree on carers @Matilda2013 although I wish unpaid carers had gotten something and other hard pushed people, 2020 has been a horrible year for so many.

It's more the divisive scrapping with wm, this could've been done without any fuss but of course wins no Indy votes or headlines.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/12/2020 17:10

As far as I can see nobody expected anyone to donate it - one poster said her Dh would be and someone else said I hope others who don't need it are as generous.

WouldBeGood · 01/12/2020 17:22

It now turns out the SG did know about the tax/UC situation before they announced this.

So it is a stunt.

In addition HMRC can hardly be expected to see one category of bonus as more worthy than another or it would be chaos.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/12/2020 17:44

Total stunt.

Of course HMRC can't differentiate - your bonus isn't taxable because you work in adult care, but we'll tax your bonus because you only work in and that's not so worthy.

AnneKipanki · 01/12/2020 17:46

This cash will be a headline grabbing exploit .
There will be so many provisos that most people will come out with zero .

Greggs gave staff £300 ? last year but in reality once Tax / UC etc was calculated it was about £20 quid .
BTW these figures are not accurate.

Bikingbear · 01/12/2020 17:54

The Dentists get paid by the NHS for the work they do. But at the moment they are basically banned from doing NHS work.
The NHS work they can do the rates are too low to cover the extra cleaning time.
Or at least that's my understanding.

Cismyfatarse · 01/12/2020 18:17

@StatisticallyChallenged Sorry. Missed a page of cat jokes (and photos) and thought I was making an original joke.

Sadly, rehashed tier 3 joke.

I remember you fondly from 2014. It was those threads that kept me sane. You were magnificent. (I was there a lot under a different name).

Sorry. Fan girl here!!

As you were.

And in the meantime they are offering private appointments for anything people are willing to pay for. We were offered appointments for a black friday deal on teeth whitening but can't get an appointment for a check up or treatment for anything else.

This isn't even about the bonus to be honest. Just fucked off with it.

Yip I was quoted £37 for my 3yo to see the hygienist.

I could do with seeing dentist too. I was considering asking for back to back appointments and a discount. He'll probably tell me to get lost.

Blush I'm not sure I have the strength for a round 2 of trying to decipher dodgy government/snp stats! God was it 6 years ago? It still feels really fresh and recent to me. I really should NC occasionally!

Wasn't meaning my post to sound snippy. Wish I had a video clip of her jumping back as my big cat appeared Grin

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/12/2020 18:32

We used to do a family appointment but no discount. NHS appointments, but all 4 of us in and out in under 10 minutes.

OP posts:
Bikingbear · 01/12/2020 18:50

I was thinking discount as they wouldn't need a deep clean between us as we are one family.

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/12/2020 18:56

You mean a private appointment? I'd do one of those when DS2 home but disinclined to go to our current dentist as they were a bit shite on the NHS, I'm reluctant to give them money for being shit but obviously trying to change is not particularly easy at the moment.

Oh god, I don’t want another referendum.
I’m very fed up of the SNP. I often feel like the media treat them as if they are in opposition in Scotland and they themselves play this card when defending their track record.

Rae36 · 01/12/2020 19:08

Reasons I'm pissed off right now-

1- taking the kids to rugby training, hear on the radio that Hibs are playing at Easter Road so figure I'd better leave early because of the traffic. Yell at everyone to get out the house 15 minutes earlier than usual, completely forgetting that there are no fans allowed at the match so so there is no traffic and we arrive at training 20 minutes too early.

2- in the rush to get out the house early I forgot to lift my flask of tea. And no fucking cafe is open anywhere. There are at least 4 within a 5 minute walk of the rugby ground but not a single one is open. Obviously. Fucks sake. Considering a bag of chips just to pass the time.

titsbumfannythelot · 01/12/2020 19:15

Get the chips. 2020 has driven us all to the carbs
