Matt Hancock crying? Got to be better than his excited karaoke face!

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/12/2020 11:00

I like all those things except Irn Bru and every conversation always comes back to the delights of chippy sauce. I miss it so much Sad

See I thought I'd fit right in, porridge is one of my favourite foods, plus oats in general. I even make my own oat cakes. Whisky fan, tweed, check. Love autumnal highland colours. Used to joke my cat was a Scottish wildcat. I've even looked up my clan tartan on any surname in our families (there isn't one as no Scottish genes whatsoever sadly).

The othering of rUK has crushed so much of the love for us though.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/12/2020 11:04

I asked for Glayva in a bar on Skye rather than Drambuie so my east coast credentials were completely on show...(the bar man agreed with me it was nicer)

I struggle to embrace my scottish-ness now as it feels tainted by the referendum shite

Hello all,and others who know Leith, the pub is Sofi's on the shore. It's a great place and we will miss it so so much. I think the other Sofi's on buccleuch place will hopefully be ok but it's the first one we love, with the cosy snug in the back. It's great if you like dogs too as lots of people would bring them in after their walks.

The trams are horrible. They're just buggering up business more, making crossing the road really scary and they really smell toxic. Oh, they also found skeletons of plague victims on constitution street, so we had the apt chill of walking past those for a bit.

Last night I met a confused old man who didn't understand why his bus was diverted and didn't know how to get home. Tram works x Covid are horrible.

I hope for level two today, so I can hide inside until seven pm when smelly tram works finish for the day.

I hope you're all ok.im afraid I hate irn bru.

JamesMoriarty · 08/12/2020 11:18

I don't mind diet Irn-Bru but can't stand the sugary stuff.
What are we expecting today? I'm thinking for us dirty 4s things stay as they are but with non-essential shops allowed to reopen? Hoping for at least tier 3 though.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 08/12/2020 11:19

Will nipoleon go one better than Matt Hancock and Boris Johnson (again) and fall to her knees in floods of tiers Grin at the sight of the first Scottish Covid Vaccination?

Dinnafashyersel · 08/12/2020 11:21

I am an Irn Bru lover but only 2 of 3 my DC have inherited the gene Xmas Sad
I can tolerate chips with and without sauce and prefer haggis supper to fish. However in my old age I can only manage half a supper and I have to wash it down with either full sugar Coke or Irn Bru to digest it - I reckon there's a science project there somewhere.

Hopeful about the lifting of t4 today. BBC carrying an article showing all t4 areas infections were in decline before it was introduced and it hasn't made any difference to the trajectory. Wales circuitbreaker looking to have done more harm than good. Lots of pushback against tiers in England. The momentum all seems to be starting to shift.

Scotsman and Herald both running articles today highlighting the decimation of the hospitality sector in Scotland and the proportionately lower levels of support relative to rUK.

anon444877 · 08/12/2020 11:23

nipoleon that has to be my favourite yet!

Dinnafashyersel · 08/12/2020 11:24

Suspect tiers announcement will be very businesslike and not even much emoting about the vaccine (we still need to ca' canny mind). NS will be hoping to keep the spotlight somewhat muted as her DH has been giving evidence to the Salmond enquiry committee all morning.

Bikingbear · 08/12/2020 11:30

Queen Nik trying to go one better OMG I might be forced to go and actually watch.

There has to be kickback against the restrictions. Glasgow being Glasgow is very likely to be putting two fingers up, "You're noo telling me I canny see ma maw"

littlbrowndog · 08/12/2020 11:32

Waxon you can get chippy sauce in Asda and sometimes Aldi

It needs to watered down a bit with water. Not vinager

It’s by gold star.

Jason was emoting madly I think on the radio this morning

Be careful be careful. Let’s not all go mad. Blah blah blah

WouldBeGood · 08/12/2020 11:33

I feel much better for my confession - I’m not alone!

I

littlbrowndog · 08/12/2020 11:35

The dirty 4s I know are expecting good news today.

JamesMoriarty · 08/12/2020 11:41

I've noticed quite a few businesses on Facebook post their plans for reopening Saturday, do they know something we don't or just hopeful/confident about restrictions being lifted? I'm feeling pessimistic for some reason.

Bytheloch · 08/12/2020 11:43

I’m going to do a lunchtime bleach of my floors and a wipe down of my front door, prepping for the cleaner tier drop with my domestic behaviour.

On a v.serious and hugely important admin note, we may bust at the 1000 max allowed messages after the queen’s speech today.

NotAnActualSheep · 08/12/2020 11:46

I've never tried irn bru Xmas Blush though if it's part of a test for travel permission or anything, I'm willing to give it a go. Not a great lover of any fizzy drinks, and it's just a bit, well, orange for me to think it's a great idea. Can take or leave (veggie) haggis, and can't stand whisky. So I'm basically expecting to be thrown out come the revolution.

Can't believe Sofis has gone Xmas Sad. Used to go there as a traditional part of anyone's leaving do when I first worked in Edinburgh (before and after the Raj on the Shore). My line manager would always turn up just as everyone was on the verge of leaving and order 3 more bottles of wine...

Am not confident at very much changing at the review today, apart from the dirty level 4s going into something slightly less dirty. Am surprised that not all level 3s have been showing falling numbers (according to the BBC).

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/12/2020 11:56

@Bytheloch

Side distraction: Matt Hancock was crying on TV this morning re the vaccine?! Wtf politicians rolling with the ‘human touch’ is disturbing to say the least. This might be the only compliment I ever give NS, but I’m glad she’s hardcore enough not to faux weep for the cameras.
I'm not entirely sure he was faux to be fair- he lost a relative to covid not that long ago and had it himself too. Possibly just relief that the end is actually in sight?
StatisticallyChallenged · 08/12/2020 11:57

@NotAnActualSheep no no no, can't be having that. Get yourself to a shop immediately and get some irn bru in you.

WouldBeGood · 08/12/2020 11:59

@JamesMoriarty I’ve noticed that too.... it’s nerve racking

Bytheloch · 08/12/2020 12:03

@StatisticallyChallenged ok, fair comment.

Bikingbear · 08/12/2020 12:10

Is now a good time to confess I have a real bottle of Bru in a cupboard before they messed with the sugarXmas Wink

Tierful · 08/12/2020 12:16

Here for the rumours and leaks, stay for the bru chat!

Can T3 travel to other T3 areas?

Dirty T4er here hoping to make plans to see people, outside of course, this weekend.

Rae36 · 08/12/2020 12:24

Pizza supper with salt and sauce for me please, washed down with a can of irn bru. But I like it less now they've messed about with the sugar.

Diet Irn Bru makes ds go completely hyper, it's really funny, you can see it happening in front of your eyes. Diet Coke is the same. So he's never allowed those any more. He doesn't like the feeling they give him anyway, now he's a bit older. He didn't understand when he was small.

Sadly I'm off to take ds14 for a covid test so until he gets a negative result back we can't go anywhere to buy chips or cans.

Dh is really pissed off, he thinks the test is a massive over-reaction. I think I can't send a kid with a cough to school in December 2020 until he has a negative test. In December 2019 he'd have been sent to school regardless.

At least it will pass the time until Big Nic takes to the floor at 2.30.
