I'm very interested in what she does with us in Argyll and Bute as we have had a contained outbreak at Faslane. 120 cases last week apparently .... but only 24 cases outside the base.

@RaspberryCoulis I love Queen Covid - our new royalty now we’ve seen off those plague ridden English ones

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/12/2020 08:49

Yep, loving Queen Covid too.

Was reading something last night talking about the covid vaccination saying it may only give 90 day protection? Anyone seen anything about that?

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 08/12/2020 08:56

Dunno.. it seems weird given that having the illness seems to give immunity?

Bikingbear · 08/12/2020 09:03

Waxon I read that too. They can only guarantee 90 days at the moment because it's only been used / trialled for months.
It seems to be a bit of scare mongering, ante-vac nonsense.

Given the vaccine will be based on similar vaccines that give lifetime or very long term cover its unlikely to only last 90 days.

The reason the flu vaccine is done annually is because flu is a fast mutating virus. Covid doesn't seem to be mutating that fast.

Useless information the BCG they don't really know how long cover lasts, 15 years minimum but might be up to 40 years or longer.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/12/2020 09:08

I was trying to get to sleep at the time so don't really remember where I read it but there has been a lot of talk about having it only giving 90 days immunity so I guess it sort of made sense. I wish I'd been able to get a test at the time. I'm 95% sure I have, had all the main symptoms and had been in contact with a confirmed case. Always that wee niggle though and so therefore I'd love an antibody test.

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 08/12/2020 09:11

An antibody test might not show immunity as you can also get the cellular reaction to fight the illness. T cells and other ones. It’s really interesting. Cellular reaction apparently diminishes with age and ill health so may explain the demographics so affected.

WouldBeGood · 08/12/2020 09:12

That’s just my non scientific reading of stuff on this as I find it fascinating

Bikingbear · 08/12/2020 09:16

Waxon I think it was in a Covid threads you read it. As I say they can only guarantee 90 days, so far.
They'll be monitoring the people in the initial trials for a while to come.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/12/2020 09:19

Thanks for all the info. Very interesting. I'm not on the priority list anyway. DH is but reacts badly to flu jags etc so very reluctant to have it. He's not against vaccination per se, but personally doesn't react well to anything, including dental xrays and loads of other stuff.

Queen Covid. This is why I love this thread.

I’ve trawled my usual outlets for any snippets/leaks and I’m seeing none. Officially it’s still looking like we’ll not be T4 on paper, but with ‘cautious’ tweaks to restrictions, so still limited. Probably now allowed to drink Irn Bru only, between midday and 2.30pm, outside only whilst wearing tartan. Or something similar.

Bytheloch · 08/12/2020 09:41

Those in T3.5 can drink the full sugar Irn Bru. Sugar free only for us dirties.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/12/2020 10:01

I love this/these threads too, you lot are so funny, it really brightens up my day and restore the faith that there are intelligent, humorous, engaging and thoughtful people out there.

When you look at the media and some other things, you start to wonder about the other folk occupying this spinning ball. People just seem so much more willing to give up their lives and believe what they are fed than i ever remember. It's not really a brains thing. i think back and your average folk would just never have bought into half of what goes about and yet we have more access to more information than ever. Maybe that's the problem. Back in the day, people heard something and either though bollocks or true, they didn't end up down multiple rabbit holes trying to prove/disprove. Also the way that the algorithms work pushes people into reading similar stuff and doesn't provide them with a range of thoughts and opinions.

Anyway, enough serious stuff - I have Irn Bru Max in the house for DS2 coming home - where am i with that? T4 or 3 or 3 plus?

OP posts:
Bytheloch · 08/12/2020 10:11

wax Posh Irn Bru is probably more fitting for a T2?

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/12/2020 10:14

Yay! I'm taking that we are moving from a 4 to a 2 and don't even need the briefing any more. I have 24 cans so that's 24 days from Friday to be tier 2 or if we don't break the plastic on it until the 23rd we can have 24 days of christmas type restrictions only?

Agree wax I've noticed that the echo chambers mean that if people see the same garbage enough times, they suspend critical faculties. And Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc, their incentives are headcount and profit, they don't have any responsibility for their social effect or facts.

It's funny as I'm a free market type but i feel people don't understand the amount of data they're giving away that is being sold around, for political and other marketing purposes.

anon444877 · 08/12/2020 10:20

This covid govt by leak and see how it plays on social media is a very nasty development.

Bytheloch · 08/12/2020 10:41

Side distraction: Matt Hancock was crying on TV this morning re the vaccine?! Wtf politicians rolling with the ‘human touch’ is disturbing to say the least.
This might be the only compliment I ever give NS, but I’m glad she’s hardcore enough not to faux weep for the cameras.

WouldBeGood · 08/12/2020 10:42

Oh god! I need to confess this...

I don’t like irn bru 😳

We are east coasters so not liking the irn bru either. DS2 went rogue in an attempt to fit in when we moved further west. He doesn't like Cola!!

When we were looking at houses, we were trying to gauge at what point prominence in the cans chiller was given to Irn Bru rather than Cola. It's somewhere in West Lothian, there must be line drawn somewhere.

@WouldBeGood I don't like Irn Bru, stovvies, haggis or Tunnocks tea cakes or caramel wafers, oh and not whisky either since a bad experience in freshers week

Can you tell I'm not really Scottish ?

rookiemere · 08/12/2020 10:56

I do like chippy sauce but I think that's just an Edinburgh thing.
