Suggestion for next thread title, triggered by @WaxOnFeckOff

It's all a bit shut this Christmas.

Or similar.

Certainly the pubs being closed hasn't stopped the man in the street outside having a big skinful and singing like a loon. I nearly joined in.

hilbil21 · 07/12/2020 22:13

@WaxOnFeckOff We are seriously considering driving from Scotland to England to stay with family on Thursday, I truly don't care anymore. Will risk a fine I think Confused

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 22:13

A wee fucking miserable lonely robin or I'm dreaming of a shite Christmas or The Scotsnet guide to dealing with awkward social situations...

There are loads of possibles

DS drove from our T4 to his T2 a couple of weeks ago and was fine, even if he is a germ ridden Student. I'd go for it hilbil. I think we plan to go to Costco on Saturday. There isn't a Costco in our council area, that's not really our fault, DH's colleagues need a lasagna.

We are tier 2 (until tomorrow at least) and they're tier 2 in Engerland so I'm just going to plead absolute stupidity if we get stopped, and say I thought you could go from a 2 to a 2 Smile the police don't know I'm not clueless lol. I'm normally such a rule abider but I'm completely and utterly over the whole shambles

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 22:24

I think you'll not be stopped as such, it would only be if you had another issue - speeding, out of date tax, accident etc. You are allowed to attend funerals or christenings etc. Just look up the local announcements and pick an event in the area you are heading to. Job done.

I was seriously considering booking a house viewing down there (which is allowed) how have we got to this stage of madness Hmm

Bikingbear · 07/12/2020 22:34

Hilbil, can anyone either you or friend be 'vulnerable'?
I don't mean to mimimalise really vulnerable people but vulnerable is a hard thing to define esp when mental health is taken into account.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 22:36

I work in, shall we say, an area which equates to following rules and ensuring that others do. I don't even walk on the grass ffs. But this just has me boiling. I think it's why I feel so stressed as it's so stupid and inconsistent and I want to say fuck it. I've never even had a parking ticket or a fine for library book etc

@Bikingbear She is struggling to be fair, I'm just going to see what comes out my mouth if we have to say something Grin

Bytheloch · 07/12/2020 22:41

Sorry, shouldn’t laugh but it’s such a farce now that even the royals are ‘getting telt’ for travelling into other parts of the UK🤦‍♀️
hilbil you should be fine regardless, but I’m loving the idea of booking a house viewing. 🤪🤣

hilbil21 · 07/12/2020 22:42

@WaxOnFeckOff I'm the same. Never been in trouble for anything in my life. If a bit of litter blows out the car door I'm chasing it down the car park etc.... but this is just getting beyond a joke

hilbil21 · 07/12/2020 22:44

@Bytheloch I may just say (as I'm sure plenty did when Dominic went to the castle) "Oh well I thought it must be ok when William and Kate did it on Monday) I have at least 10 friends who have no clue what the rules are and message me to check quite often. I may just need to pretend to be one of them

Bikingbear · 07/12/2020 22:48

Hilbil Don't lie your friend is struggling therefore vulnerable.
The Royals were on business that couldn't be done from home. Don't make yourself look stupid by comparing yourself to them. Wink

hilbil21 · 07/12/2020 22:54

@Bikingbear I wouldn't I'm just kidding on. Will probably chicken out of doing it come Thursday. I don't drive, my husband works away and goes away on the 16th for 3 weeks (I'm an only child and both parents have passed away) so we won't benefit from the restrictions being lifted over Christmas. Just fancied a wee jolly to cheer me up before he escapes Smile

Bikingbear · 07/12/2020 23:07

That's rotten. Go and enjoy a jolly.

littlbrowndog · 07/12/2020 23:12

Just go

There are things in our lives more important than COVID

Really really are

titsbumfannythelot · 08/12/2020 06:49

Another vote in the just go camp too.

hilbil21 · 08/12/2020 07:02

Will report back on Friday as to where we are lol. In the meantime, I wonder what our esteemed leader is going to tell us this afternoon Shock

Bikingbear · 08/12/2020 07:24

Just a thought. Not that anyone will do you or really care, technically its illegal to leave but is it illegal to enter England.

What I'm really saying is, Scottish police can only fine in Scotland. But you haven't broken the rules until you actually cross the border, at which point they can't actually do anything.
Is there any English laws stopping you from entering?

hilbil21 · 08/12/2020 07:33

Oooo I don't know. I think it's definitely more a Scottish thing

RaspberryCoulis · 08/12/2020 08:36

It's a moot point anyway as the police aren't stopping people. Totally impractical.

What time is Queen Covid making her statement today? Is it the later on in the afternoon "parliament" statement with her mates for back up rather than "look at me with my wee important podium" statement?

Exepcting East Dunbartonshire and the rest of you in the manky west will be Tier 3 +++ so pretty much tier 4, but Primark open.

hilbil21 · 08/12/2020 08:40

@RaspberryCoulis 2.20 Smile

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/12/2020 08:41

Yes, I think Tuesdays are the usual 2pm thing. Anyone seen any rumours or leaks yet?

I'm expecting 3 +++++

It needs to be 1 for me to get my Christmas day drink so no chance of that and I no longer know the difference between any other tiers so not sure what the advantages are.
