It's almost beyond satire - you wonder what sort of sense of humour bypass you'd need to write such drivel with a straight face.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 15:21

@Bytheloch

Words fail me. Thank you for the laugh though-and for the Malcolm Tucker reference. That doc could have been produced by Perfect Curve agency😉

Is there a stage door at Holyrood where we could wait with our gifted by Wax print outs, to get them signed? 🦠😷

We'd need to get in early so they can be suitably quarantined? Or should I laminate them?

😂😂😂 thanks for that! What a boon! Great use of taxpayers money, eh?

NotAnActualSheep · 07/12/2020 15:43

@IwishIwasyoda

Thank you for sharing the pandemic etiquette guide. I am having a truly shit day and it has made me laugh (hollowly, and with tears of horror gathering in my eyes). I so wish 'The Thick of It' was still on telly, can you imagine what Malcolm Tucker and Jamie would say?
Ha! No - that has definitely been focus-grouped to buggery by Stewart the spin doctor of "Let's imagineer the narrative" and "Knowledge is Porridge" fame. In fact - I think he'd be embarrassed by it.
StatisticallyChallenged · 07/12/2020 15:50

Did you see Sturgeon saying today's royal visit breaks covid regulations on travelling?

Ffs.

Firstly- whatever your opinion on whether we should have a monarchy, surely this sort of think is their job effectively, and you can travel for work

Secondly, imagine the outcry if they'd skipped Scotland...

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 15:58

Yes and that outcry would have been led by Sturgeon.

I'm ambivalent about royalty so no axe either way but as you say, it is work but then I don't think they really want people working, I think we've all to be sitting with our hands out waiting on our universal income and instructions on how it's to be spent...who is to pay for that in independent scotland is the biggest fecking mystery. Miss Marple currently dusting off her hat.

I would very much like the malcom tucker version

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/12/2020 16:02

That'll be the bankrupt small businesses, the banks and insurance companies who have all shifted south of the border/to the EU (made even easier by all their existing staff having got used to working from home so no need to even fire and re-hire), the retail staff made redundant, the out of work oil workers...We're economically booming dontcha know

littlbrowndog · 07/12/2020 16:02

Why should they not visit Scotland.

It’s bonkers for her to say that.

They are doing their jobs

anon444877 · 07/12/2020 16:08

I'm not a monarchy fan but I do like KM's clothing choices (lowers tone). Agree it's work - is this the level the Indy debate is going to be fought at?

Trade you a royal for a Ferrier!

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 07/12/2020 16:08

I've only just finished watching "in the thick of it" on Iplayer (never watched it before). That and Dr Who has given me quite the crush on Peter Capaldi now.

Christmas TV schedule looks utter shite. They can't even cheer us up at Xmas FFS.

WouldBeGood · 07/12/2020 16:10

It’s ironic as well as they should really be scrapping the royals with independence but they’re too scared.

Yes, I noticed she chose today to visit a clinic to showcase the vaccine, FFS. Can’t have real royalty upstaging the queen of Scotland. 😒
RaspberryCoulis · 07/12/2020 16:14

I'd be very twitchy if I lived in Fife - currently tier 3.

Their cases per 100k over the last 7 days are 111. That's higher than both E and W Dumbartonshire. We're in Tier 4. Our numbers are coming down, theirs are going up.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 16:22

I'm sure clackmannan being high will be the reason for keeping Stirling up even though they are a lower level than us now.

More like they want independence to seem as small a step as possible - see "we can keep the pound, stay in the EU" etc. They'd basically be fighting two referendums at once if they went for scrap the monarchy too
Bytheloch · 07/12/2020 16:38

wax you’re not the first to say that tiday😒

Bytheloch · 07/12/2020 16:38

Today, either

WouldBeGood · 07/12/2020 16:52

That sounds likely @StatisticallyChallenged.

I’d prefer a proper radical agenda of Euro and no monarchy, if they must bang on about this all the time

Bikingbear · 07/12/2020 17:12

Until NS came alone I was never that fond of the idea of Monarchy. However NS has pushed me into seeing the Monarch has a role to attempt to prevent one person or party having too much power.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 07/12/2020 17:18

In a similar fashion I have seen the merit in the House of Lords Confused

theotherfossilsister · 07/12/2020 17:25

Hello, just catching up on the thread.

I feel sorry for the civil servant who had to put that list together. It reads as ridiculous but they'll have given some poor sod an evening to do it.

Currently sitting in a small pub waiting for rush hour to end, sipping lemon ginger tea, and wishing I wasn't getting kicked out at six. It's crazy but I feel so much safer on Leith walk when the traffic is less. The tram work really confuses me and 7pm seems a safer time to walk home than 6.

Hoping for tier two tomorrow. If not I will be furious. It's been an atrocious week and several of my friends have lost their jobs.

The bar where we had our first date has also closed!

Rae36 · 07/12/2020 17:25

In other news, primary school son just got his class Christmas party moved forward a week. Home learning for Edinburgh schools?

Bikingbear · 07/12/2020 17:30

Rae36 and Edinburgh is much lower than Glasgow. I'm still half expecting Homeschooling from Friday.

What week have they moved the party too?

Perihelion · 07/12/2020 17:46

RaspberryCoulis I know what you mean about Fife. It's not been great around Kirkcaldy and Leven for a while.
If it wasn't so close to Christmas, I think Edinburgh would definitely move down to level 2. But if they're going for cautious, then no change.
