Well they've always said the spread in Glasgow in house parties, so tier 3 + pubs and nightclubs seems the best way to stop people having house parties. 👍

anon444877 · 07/12/2020 12:11

Although I've got to wonder what a socially distanced night club looks like!

Pigs might fly for tier 0, my suitcase will be packed before Saint Nick has finished speaking!

NotAnActualSheep · 07/12/2020 12:12

My guess is she'll give some veiled hints at the briefing today... then later today and tomorrow there will be leaked letters and probably some tweets from council people, which will be denied. Then tomorrow at 2 NS will announce almost exactly what was in the letters, but with some tweaks so she can be seen to be in charge.

hilbil21 · 07/12/2020 12:28

Well shes said everyone will come out of tier 4.... to where she didn't say

RaspberryCoulis · 07/12/2020 12:33

I really don't believe anything she says any more.

Bytheloch · 07/12/2020 12:40

But like our friends in Wales, first firebreak with promise of coming out and now they’re back in another🤷‍♀️
Anything we change to is our last move before the 22nd, is that right?

titsbumfannythelot · 07/12/2020 12:41

Neither do I, thumping great wazzock that she is.

runningpink · 07/12/2020 12:52

They are pushing for tier 1 here but it makes no difference to me.
It still involves masks, and not having my friends indoors or being able to visit friends in other tiers.
I won’t go to restaurants etc for the fear of being in close contact and having to isolate which I know I wouldn’t survive having to do

I really hope you guys get moved properly from tier 3

Dinnafashyersel · 07/12/2020 12:59

The Scottish Govt have produced a super helpful guide for dealing with awkward huggers such as us. (honestly thought my leg was being pulled till I googled it).

I give you Covid 19 - Dealing with Awkward Social Situations

www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-dealing-with-awkward-social-situations---guidance/

There's a fully illustrated guide and everything. Xmas Grin

(Apparently 80% of people are in the same boat. I am in the other 20% who now have anxiety about why anyone would want to do anything other than socially distance and avoid hugging even within my own household)

NotAnActualSheep · 07/12/2020 13:11

Yeah... She was pretty hot on "wider context" regardless of what the indicators say, including relaxations over Christmas. So I'm not convinced there'll be much movement at all other than to bring level 4 to something not entirely dissimilar to level 3. I think everywhere else will stay where they are. Maybe Borders and D&G moving to 1. 5, but probably not.

I think there should be another review on 15th, coming into play on 18th...but the one on 22nd will be postponed til after 27th I assume.

runningpink Flowers. You still sound so down Sad. I know a lot will depend on who you can go with, but I really think a cafe or restaurant would be safe in terms of close contacts etc. Especially if you can find somewhere with outdoor seating and those heater thingies. You may not be that bothered, but if you think it's something you would like to do apart from the risk of test and protect, I think it's worth doing.

applesandpears33 · 07/12/2020 13:12

She did say today she'd be erring on the side of caution. I'd love to see Edinburgh move to tier 2,but don't think it will. If it were going to move down I think she'd have hinted at it today.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 07/12/2020 13:13

Given the flexible relationship with the truth that NS has demonstrated throughout this pandemic, and the reaction to Jeanne Freeman's slip of the tongue yesterday, I expect her to either:

  1. Technically move all the areas out of level 4 but into to some version of level 3 that has additional restrictions and amounts to essentially the same thing. or
  2. Move areas down into level 3 on the basis that infections are falling (which they are...but were even before level 4 restrictions were imposed) and claim the level 4 lockdown has been a huge success and shouldn't we all be so grateful to have been saved by the dear leader.

Oh FFS, that is one of the worst things I've seen... Do they really think we need a guide to "approved phrases to use to show you are a Good Person"?! That is so twee Xmas Envy (totally not envy this time). "That would be the worst birthday present ever...." . Boak.
littlbrowndog · 07/12/2020 13:23

🤮🤮🤮

NotAnActualSheep · 07/12/2020 13:23

Oh yes, and if someone doesn't comply with your passive aggressive demand, you're totally allowed to report them. Fuck off Scottish Government with your "oh, aren't we lovely and helpful" patronising shit.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 07/12/2020 13:35

There’s a feedback button on that page Xmas Wink

NotAnActualSheep · 07/12/2020 14:05

Xmas Grin Oh gibbons - so they have! I think given they can't get the numbers 1 to 5 in the right order in their illustrated guide, this may have been put together by a work experience student who couldn't be trusted with the photocopier.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 14:09

Oh there is a PDF, now I know what everyone I know is getting for Christmas!

Bugger... I've just suggested that on the advent calendar thread. Everyone will get one, AND it will be personally signed by Jason.

Dollybagwash · 07/12/2020 14:19

Right that document just takes the fucking cake. Really? How does this shit get published? I don't like Nicola Sturgeon but for Christ sake she is not a stupid woman! Why on earth would she think this is a good idea!

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 14:20

Signed in what though....

Thank you for sharing the pandemic etiquette guide. I am having a truly shit day and it has made me laugh (hollowly, and with tears of horror gathering in my eyes). I so wish 'The Thick of It' was still on telly, can you imagine what Malcolm Tucker and Jamie would say?

Dinnafashyersel · 07/12/2020 14:57

Kinda tempted to produce the Malcolm Tucker version now ...

Bytheloch · 07/12/2020 15:19

Words fail me. Thank you for the laugh though-and for the Malcolm Tucker reference. That doc could have been produced by Perfect Curve agency😉

Is there a stage door at Holyrood where we could wait with our gifted by Wax print outs, to get them signed? 🦠😷
