That’s good @rookiemere

Can’t even believe we will get to three, which is still shite

rookiemere · 07/12/2020 07:56

Oh btw by grapevine rumours, I mean there is an article in the Edinburgh Evening News. Apparently Edinburgh meets all the key criteria- but we know that doesn't necessarily mean much.

The hotel we were at yesterday said that if we went to Tier 2 they'd start serving lunches, but without alcohol there wasn't enough trade or profit to make it worth their while. I hope it does go down, I did enjoy my afternoon tea at the time, but my body doesn't cope well with too much refined carbs and sugar, so I had a bit of a crash afterwards.

rookiemere · 07/12/2020 08:00

Tier 3 isn't that bad. Gyms open, restaurants open until 6, children's sports still on.It's mainly the no alcohol and no traveling outside the tier that are annoying.

WouldBeGood · 07/12/2020 08:08

I want to go out for meals though! Being shut in is crap.

Actually, all the tiers are quite shit really

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 07/12/2020 08:23

@titsbumfannythelot

Desk yoga just sounds like an excuse for all the bendy bastards to show off
Its being organised by a yoga loving, mindfulness loving, vegan AF, colleague with fake nails, fake hair extensions, low cut tops, immaculate house (in the background) and who talks like she's the bloody queen. She irritates the hell out of me. No one is that fucking perfect. Will be glad not to see her again and have her constantly question my chippy friday lunch (just a bag of chips from the blue lagoon usually).
WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 08:30

Open until 6 is no use to most folk through the week and places will be rammed at the weekend. I also don't necessarily want to start my evening meal at the back of 4. At best 6 is really only useful for the late lunch people. I mean, why not make it 7 or 7.30, what difference does that really make to spread but would allow places to do a proper early evening service?

But it still means you can't go out for a meal in the evening, unless you finish work early and get to the restaurant for 4.30pm at the latest. And that's not "dinner time" unless you're 3.

For restaurants that's most of their trade gone, they can't survive long on dry lunches.

WouldBeGood · 07/12/2020 08:43

I’m not sure many restaurants will reopen in tier 3 to be honest

NotAnActualSheep · 07/12/2020 08:45

Virtual karaoke and desk yoga ("bendy bastards" Xmas Grin) are one of the reasons I'm glad I'm self employed. Also, given my general level of misanthropy, not keen on hugs/ cheek kisses from random acquaintances (though generally because I tend to judge badly and end up clashing ears or noses, or chin butting their shoulder). Miss handshakes though.

Oh, I so hope the article in the Evening News (bastion of journalistic excellence that it is) about Edinburgh going to T2 is right! If Midlothian changes too, I'm off to Straiton Costa first thing on Friday for my BOGOF hot chocolate. I don't particularly want to drink two hot chocolates by myself, mind you, but I'd force myself. Adult gym classes are allowed in T2, so I could wouldn't, but could do something sweaty to make up for it. And I could go to wave at DPs through their window again. I'm not entirely convinced, though. The "numbers" have been well within T2 for a few weeks now, and I'm not sure the proximity to higher numbers in eg West Lothian bodes well. But, pizza and wine in the early evening... Xmas Envy (actual envy this time)

Rae36 · 07/12/2020 08:50

I reckon there is no chance of Edinburgh dropping to level 2. No idea how they'll spin it but I'm pretty sure it won't happen. I would love to take teenage ds to Starbucks for a hot chocolate in the evening.

NotAnActualSheep · 07/12/2020 08:52

Agree! That's basically a cafe, isn't it... which is all they wanted to open in the first place. Its the hypocrisy of saying "hospitality can open, but, oh, you can't serve alcohol and you can't let anyone in after 5pm and have to close by 6...but you can open, so don't go blaming us if you go bankrupt, you pub landlord".

anon444877 · 07/12/2020 08:56

Oh the justification will be holding steady during Christmas and vaccine roll out, expecting post Christmas spike etc, review 11 jan...

I am not getting hopes up

NotAnActualSheep · 07/12/2020 08:59

Yes, I think you're probably right Xmas Sad Fuck 'em. I'll have my Wine at home then. See if I care.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 07/12/2020 09:19

Tier 3.8 for Glasgow. You can go to Silverburn between 9.17 and 9.52 in the morning, but only if you've had the vaccine. Wink

I'm so hoping for tier 3 so we can go for lunch with family at the weekend. I've made my peace with no alcohol Sad but it'd be so nice not to have to be freezing outside to see anyone.

Bikingbear · 07/12/2020 09:30

I'd love to be able to get out for lunch.

I do worry about a rise in January, people really aren't getting the idea of one bubble like a triangle at Christmas. Not it's ok to see different folk on different days. With those people also seeing other people on different days.

Bytheloch · 07/12/2020 09:34

Re the alcohol issue- read something yesterday about a scheme in Norway with ‘government off licences’ with restricted hours of trade, don’t open over the weekend, no booze sold in supermarkets- according to the article, SG are interested in the modellingHmm...

Agree re tiers, not sure they will drop E further to 2, there would be a pile on. Is this the last amend point before the 22nd though? As it would be bizarre to be in a 3/4 and then extreme of nothing for 5 days. Think it would absolutely guarantee us all plunged into T4 for new year- not because of an increase in cases, but more that the current SG modelling could ‘justify’ it.

Bytheloch · 07/12/2020 09:37

boogie will that include parking time at Silverburn🤣?
T3.9 allows for extra time to park, you’ve got to hope for that tomorrow.

anon444877 · 07/12/2020 09:50

There will be a small rise post Xmas - my dd has had covid and she had only one day with a very slight temperature, just hit cheeks really. We tested as another case in her class and good as we have an older one who otherwise would've carried on going to school and potentially spreading.

My other dc and us have had no testable symptoms whatsoever.

In normal times I doubt she'd even have had a day off because she had no cough, no runny nose, was fine for doing school work and seemed pretty fine.

JamesMoriarty · 07/12/2020 10:03

I'm Lanarkshire so I'll accept tier 3 over 4! Would be nice to go out for lunch over Christmas and go swimming again. Shame we can't be trusted to have a glass of wine 🙄 and I really miss the cinema.

IwishIwasyoda · 07/12/2020 10:21

@rookiemare. I'm in tier 3 and children's sports and activities not on here. Either venues are closed or clubs aren't allowed to book them - so no swimming, no football, and no drama.

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/12/2020 11:48

no drama

With Boris and Nicola in charge I'd say drama is a certainty Grin

Bytheloch · 07/12/2020 11:49

I see the royals are visiting T3 Edinburgh today- I doubt they will wander into one of our dirty T4 tiers. They came by train, so no worries about being questioned at the non existent border boundary if it was an essential journey. I wonder if they’ll get to meet our Queen Nic too, the Holyrood cafe is open, right?

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 11:53

So what do we think the communication plan is? Dodgy tweets, leaked rumours, radio silence and keep folk hanging until 2pm on Tuesday (but with long rambling speak beforehand), lost testing figures, some extra non symptomatic test centres shoved on to increase numbers, an actual press release or a mixture of all of these?

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 11:56

And yes, tier 4 will end up on some version of just under 4 and some 3s will also be moved to that, a token extra Tier 1 area will be allowed inside visits and maybe one area moved down - did Midlothian ever get their promised 2? This might be their moment...

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 07/12/2020 11:56

I'd so love to be proved wrong and get a tier Zero! :o
