Just saw that. My husband will be disappointed if he can't get back to work on Saturday. As will a great many more I'm sure.

WouldBeGood · 06/12/2020 14:07

@Bytheloch I understand that’s what they did in other countries and seems far more effective. It also seems reasonable so is much more likely to be accepted, I reckon

Bikingbear · 06/12/2020 14:33

Locking down very localized areas makes far more sense, especially when you look at an area like South Lanarkshire, a massive area but only 4 biggish towns and lots of rural villages.

BBCONEANDTWO · 06/12/2020 15:59

@JamesMoriarty

Anyone watch Politics Scotland there? Freeman wouldn't say if tier 4 will be lifted this week and "all options are on the table" 🙄
This is awful I am not surprised but it's so demoralising what about shops - what about cafes, hairdressers etc they need the work. Also this is what NS said to Parliament on 17.11.20

“We have taken the decision to place these areas into level 4 for a limited period.

The level 4 restrictions will be in place for 3 weeks - and will be lifted on December 11.”

Bikingbear · 06/12/2020 17:27

All options are on the table

Could they be trying to suss out the mood of the voters before they do it. There seems to be a lot of stuff getting leaked either deliberately or through incompetence.

Christmas bubbles, are people really understanding one bubble of three households? Not different bubbles on different days, or each house having two others they mix with?

Bytheloch · 06/12/2020 17:39

You lost me at Christmas bubbles Biking🤣

Bytheloch · 06/12/2020 17:45

all options are on the table

Which table- the garden one or the inside where you aren’t sharing roast potato spoons?

Wee Jeane went off script for sure, probably felt under pressure/covering her own back in case NS does a SNPUTURN ™️

Bikingbear · 06/12/2020 17:52

Just had conversation with the ILs who are giving it, "oh they'll be a spike after all the Christmas mixing however we plan to see DS1 on 24th and DS2 on 26th knowing your seeing other folk on 25th and we're having friends on 25th"
They could not get that was them mixing in about 3 bubbles. My head is complete burst with bubbles, spoons and gravy boats.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 06/12/2020 18:22

W Dunbartonshire has come down quite a bit and Stirling and Falkirk seem to have come down too. East Dunbartonshire, and the Lanarkshires are still quite high. Argyll and Bute is creeping up.

So maybe A&B will go up a tier, WDC, Stirling and Falkirk could go down a tier and others stay in tier 4?

hilbil21 · 06/12/2020 18:49

Argyll and Bute has crept up because of a contained outbreak at Faslane. I'm hoping she takes that into account Hmm

titsbumfannythelot · 06/12/2020 18:58

Who fecking knows what they'll do, they have got previous for dicking us all about.

Belindabelle · 06/12/2020 19:12

We are not seeing anyone over the Christmas period. With the schools not breaking up un til the 22nd MIL doesn’t want to risk it.

DH and I would like to take advantage of the lift on the travel ban to visit our holiday home at some point over the 5 day period. Collect the mail, check the boiler etc. Currently we are in tier 3 and holiday home is in a different tier 3 region so we have not been since the travel ban was introduced.

Do you think there is anything wrong with us doing this? I think we are ok because the travel ban is suspended for the 5 days and we won’t be mixing with any other households.

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/12/2020 19:14

Falkirk was already a 3 and not a 4. Just stirling that got that. Clackmannan numbers much higher now but they are 3 as well. The problem when you get down to areas of small population is that it doesn't take much for the numbers to start looking bad especially when you decide to send in a van doing testing of folk with no symptoms.

when Stirling was sitting in level 2 figures, they got a 3 along with the rest of Forth Valley as the hospital is the back up for the Lanarkshires. Then Stirling got shoved to a 4 as part of the nearly dirty dozen as there were a couple of (mainly contained) breakouts a few days before it was announced. How come we didn't get the benefit of the doubt for a couple of weeks given that other areas on triple the figures got months to see how the figures were doing?

I think it's all nonsense and not blaming anyone else in other areas at all. It's a virus, it spreads, vast majority of people will be perfectly fine, just don't cough over your granny.

Numbers are now really low again but I guess we'll get 3 plus as Clackmannan is high. We don't really get anything that resembles fairness and I'm gutted for all the small business folk that are being run into the ground. Seems to be disproportionately against small business rather than large ones (obviously there are exceptions) , I presume small business owners don't vote SNP?

I'm still gobsmacked how we've all sat and let the govt tell us whether we can have people in our own houses tbh. In fact, i'm not gobsmacked, I'm ashamed.

Belindabelle, just go. If you are worried about it being allowed, I am sure there was an exception that allowed you to visit 2nd properties for maintenance reasons. With the cold weather you need to go in case of potential frozen pipes etc.

It's not like you will be running around hugging and kissing the locals.

I don't see how they can't allow people to risk assess for themselves such things as hairdressers etc. If staff want to work and people want to go then they should be allowed to. I'm not bothered, I got my annual/semi annual haircut when they were open in late summer. I just mean no-one is forcing people to use or provide a service that they are uncomfortable with but people should be able to access services that businesses are happy to have open.

I'm v bothered about the hairdressers. I also need my eyebrows waxed. Pulled one out the other day, it was pube length 🙈🙈🙈🙈

I think i'm becoming obsessed, I thought you'd pulled one out in the pub and I was thinking, fuck off with you being in the pub!

titsbumfannythelot · 06/12/2020 19:31

Gawd I wish I was in the pub!

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/12/2020 19:36

I don't even go to the pub very much, most often just for a meal and a drink. I'm sick of thinking about what to eat, sick of buying food, sick of putting it away, sick of cooking and sick of eating (DH clears up so that bit is fine!).

Also sick of my job, sick of working, sick of housework, sick of inside, sick of outside.

Think I've reached tier infinity of this.

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 06/12/2020 19:39

@WaxOnFeckOff agree with all that.

I have a mobile hairdresser. All good.

@Belindabelle just do it, no additional risk

WouldBeGood · 06/12/2020 19:40

I love going out and travelling and had rediscovered it all with a vengeance post divorce

Groovee · 06/12/2020 19:42

I don't even know what's happening over Christmas. My dad is on end of life care. My biggest fear is my nursery bubble have to isolate.

I'm only really seeing my amazing work colleagues and receiving calls and texts from good friends. Some days I just want a hug.

Are they not supposed to be pube length then?! Xmas Shock

Yy to pubs. We were watching an ancient Jonathan Creek last night and they were all in the pub, and I felt so nostalgic Xmas Sad. DHs work had a "virtual poster session" this week, which usually involves free wine and nasty canapés. This year they were allowed to choose drinks "up to the value of £10" from the Canny Man's, who delivered them the day before. It was a genius idea. I got back from the school run and there were 4 bottles of beer sitting on the doorstep as DH had gone to the post office. Lucky our neighbours hadn't spotted them... Still, not the same as an actual pub.

I agree about the risk assessment too. It seems so infantalising to be told "naw, you'll no be doing that". Why should certain industries who have all been working in accordance with the guidance they have been told to, have the rug pulled out from them, just "to cut down on people mixing". Why is it them people have to not mix with, when it's their livelihood, and people want to use them grrrr. Xmas Angry

WouldBeGood · 06/12/2020 19:46

@Groovee have a virtual hug. Horrible time 💐

Eh, why wait for those few days? Tier 3 to tier 3, assuming on arrival it’s only yourself you’re providing hospitality to?🤔 Maybe back in March you might have been doing something off message, but now? Who is going to be pulling you over for driving...unless your road tax is out of date, of course. I’d be off tomorrow for a change of scene! Enjoy opening your mail and checking the boiler. 😉
