@derxa exactly. Glad nobody dared to stop you. 💐

JamesMoriarty · 05/12/2020 17:08

@JudgeRindersMinder have a great holiday!

NotAnActualSheep · 05/12/2020 17:36

Oh, wow. I'm salivating at the thought of 23degrees...! Have a great holiday judge!

And all the tier flouters. I hope you can see the disapproving faces of Sturgeon and Leitch looking down at you and shaking their heads, and feel truly ashamed. Apart from the Waitrose trip. That's obviously essential. And derxa too Flowers Can't say tier 3 Edinburgh is feeling that clean or invigorating today, really. Just wet, dark and miserable.

I had a right grump with the manager at DSs sports centre on Thursday night. Adults aren't allowed in for the hour of the lesson and I've been trying to contact them for a fortnight to arrange an exemption if the weather is really bad (their phones just ring and ring with a "your call is important to us" message every now and again, and email just disappears into the void of customer services and then my enquiry gets "closed"). Well, on Thursday it was really bad... sleeting heavily and freezing, and really icy underfoot, so I couldn't do my usual brisk walk for an hour. It's after 6pm, so all the cafes are closed, and nowhere else indoors to go. I didn't fancy sitting on a bench for an hour (I have atrocious circulation so even with my 17 layers and mega gloves and socks I start feeling sick in cold weather if I sit still for too long), and travelling around on a bus aimlessly probably doesn't meet the "essential travel only" requirement. I confess, I cried to be allowed in Xmas Blush. He did graciously let me sit in a corridor, but quoted "guidance" at me which I've since looked at and can't find the bit he referred to and I'll "have to come up with an alternative solution in the future". Maybe that could be moving to Tenerife.

titsbumfannythelot · 05/12/2020 17:37

Enjoy that sun judge, hopefully those of us that would like to do that type of holiday can next year.

JudgeRindersMinder · 05/12/2020 17:48

You’re all very kind, thank you x

Matilda2013 · 05/12/2020 17:56

@judgerindersminder were you in a lower tier area? Not 3 or 4? We were meant to go next week hut rescheduled go next year.

JudgeRindersMinder · 05/12/2020 18:27

I’m in a tier 3...travelling to airports is ok as long as you go straight there, do not pass go and don’t collect £200😂

rookiemere · 05/12/2020 18:27

Just watching the news - I know, I know - so out of 850,000 vaccines in the UK, Scotland is getting 65,000 and each person needs two does, so that's only 32,500 people that can be vaccinated- less if you add in some natural wastage.
Does Scotland have less than 10% of the overall population in Uk ?

Bikingbear · 05/12/2020 18:32

Quick Google UK population 68m, Scotland 5.5m so yes less than 10%

MissEliza · 05/12/2020 18:33

@rookiemere yes. Population of U.K. is about 65/6 million and Scotland is just over 5 million, IIRC.

Covidnomore · 05/12/2020 18:35

Looking at Wikipedia, Scotland has 8.2% of population.

65k seems a reasonable amount.

Dinnafashyersel · 05/12/2020 18:37

Yes. The allocation is per head. Scotland is 5.5m out of 67m UK so 8%. However I saw an interview with the distributor spokesman. He said this is just the first batch with the rest being shipped in quick succession. It is already manufactured and was ready in pending approval.

MissEliza · 05/12/2020 18:38

@NotAnActualSheep poor you. I was traipsing round a shopping centre on Thursday night for the same reason. I am fortunate enough to have a car but I usually share lifts with another parent to avoid waiting. I can't do that now either.

rookiemere · 05/12/2020 18:38

Thanks - I feel silly now, I should have checked it myself Blush.

Apparently it's enough to do all the people giving the vaccines and half of the over 80s including those in care homes.

I do hope DPs get the vaccine. DM used to be a doctor and is quite good at pushing her way to the front of the queue, so hopefully that will come to good use.

MissEliza · 05/12/2020 18:50

My df is worried if he comes down to us at Christmas, he might miss his turn for the vaccination. He's 77 with no underlying conditions. I think he's getting a bit ahead of himself.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 05/12/2020 19:11
@Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons re botanics mine too...I'm fucking going anyway Xmas Grin
Xmas Grin
I think we will too but it will heap a whole load of faff & anxiety onto the situation as we’re supposed to meet my mother... (although tbf if it wasn’t this she’d find something else to fuss about Grin)

Judge Have a lovely time Wine

NotAnActualSheep · 05/12/2020 19:22

Thanks misseliza! It's such a first world problem, but just one more thing that makes life much more difficult than it has to be. My fallback would have been an hour in Aldi, to be fair, but as we'd already spent 15 minutes in there earlier as our bus arrives too early, I did feel that would be taking the piss a little bit. There's only so many times you can walk down the aisle of shite before it begins to look a bit desperate.

My DPs are 79 and 76, so they'll be quite high up the list, but I'm assuming not before the new year. Who knows, though. They've just started doing the ONS test thing where they get swabbed every few weeks, so I suppose that's a bit of comfort!

MissEliza · 05/12/2020 19:28

I feel guilty about complaining because dd was really miserable during lockdown when she couldn't train. Today we were up at 6.45 to take her to training for 8am but it's great to see her excited about going. I treated myself to a Costa breakfast while I waited.

MissEliza · 05/12/2020 19:33

An hour in Aldi. I used to have to do that every week when ds2 was having a GCSE maths lesson. I haven't been in the shop since then.

Bikingbear · 05/12/2020 19:49

I think they'll be lucky to get the over 80s and homes given the first dose of the vaccine before Christmas.
Bearing in mind Christmas is less than 3 weeks away..

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 05/12/2020 20:09

🤣 that is amazing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 🕯

Bikingbear · 05/12/2020 20:23

Gibbons - three weeks yesterday - it's scary I know. I'm semi prepared. Still got nothing for my DMum.
I almost feel like time stands still during lockdowns. You have nothing to actually mark time passing or anything to actually look forward to. Weekends roll into weeks which roll into weekends.

Amazon must have done a roaring trade this year. As much as I try not to just go straight there. It's very tempting.

NotAnActualSheep · 05/12/2020 20:23
Xmas Grin That'd go nicely with the pope on a rope soap I got DH when we were courting...
