I've done most of those things too rookie. And I'll be spending Christmas with my sister, for the first time in ages.

MaxNormal · 05/12/2020 10:24

Who is actually following the travel ban? I have to say if I need to go somewhere I just go.

Me too. No Waitrose in South Lanarkshire you see Wink

Wbeezer · 05/12/2020 12:05

Me too, i live close to three other counties and have to drive DS3 to school in one and go to work in another so I just tack errands onto essential trips. Haven't done any purely frivolous trips or gone far though, it's just Christmas prep that's forcing me really, going five miles into P&K to buy a tree this week for instance on the way home from the school run.

feellikeanalien · 05/12/2020 13:13

My Dsis told me that where she and her DH normally go for their walk, if they cross the river they are crossing a county boundary. She took her life in her hands and crossed that bridge. She hasn't had the knock on the door yet!Grin

WouldBeGood · 05/12/2020 13:34

@MaxNormal exactly! But luckily Waitrose sell Essential products 😃

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 05/12/2020 14:10

DH's boss' wife is a nurse who says her hospital is full of covid patients. Wishaw. This was about a month ago she said that though.

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/12/2020 14:21

I think FVR averaged about 50-55% occupancy during the peak of covid. 3 covid wards which were never full. That's not to say there might have been parts of the hospital that were very busy.

DH says Monklands was the busiest he'd seen but that was months ago.

The table they used to make the tier decisions was showing low impact on hospitals and ICUs for all council areas/health boards a week past Tuesday but not looked since.

Apart from anything else, it's the inconsistencies of the decisions and the failure to use their own criteria that add to the frustrations and anger.

I've heard Hairmyres is full but isn't it always in winter anyway? I don't know much about it.

Bytheloch · 05/12/2020 14:41

On a walk with DC today because all Saturday groups cancelled as coaches live in T3, so can’t be crossing in to be active with us T4 dirtbags we crossed over into a T3 field, literally it changed council boundaries at that point. My goodness the change in oxygen was incredible, we all just sparkled with T3 cleanliness and vigour. Unfortunately, we’d parked back in T4, so returned after our walk to our car like the end scene in Big when he drops out of his grown up clothes, back to his old life.

JamesMoriarty · 05/12/2020 14:43

Hahaha @Bytheloch your fine will be on it's way now!

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/12/2020 14:45

I think people forget that in winter hospitals are busy, they probably have less patients with flu etc as people haven't been in as much general contact and more who have tested postive for covid.

None of these figures seem to be available though.

Friday night at A&E with DH and about 2 hours from arriving to being admitted, no issues getting a bed on the acute ward, great service from all. I guess less issue with folk coming home from pubs etc will have an impact but it's probably hiding a increase in domestic violence.

@MissEliza it's "against the law" to travel from Scotland to England at the moment

JudgeRindersMinder · 05/12/2020 15:27

Well I managed to get to sunny Tenerife yesterday, didn’t break any so called rules or guidelines. Fine to travel to the airport as long as you don’t get out of the car between home and the airport- M90 was horrendous though after the snowfall, and it was torrential rain all the way.
I’m deeming this trip essential for my mental health-I suffer badly with depression and SAD, and the one thing that prevents me getting too bad is a dose of proper sunshine.
Had to have a negative covid test in the 72 hours before arriving here which wasn’t a problem. Edinburgh airport was eerily quiet though, but it made security much less stressy!
It’s very quiet over here and sad to see so many businesses which were thriving this time last year, have gone to the wall.
Interestingly as of tonight Tenerife is going into a 23:00-06:00 curfew, won’t make much difference to us as we’re usually in bed by that time!

judge I was one of the naughty bad people escaping in October half term and it made such a difference to my happiness.

Dh and I agreed we're looking to escape somewhere hot as soon as allowed again.

Cismyfatarse · 05/12/2020 16:20

We are currently defying St Nicola of Sturgeon by renovating a house in one Tier and living in a rental in another.

We are tiering up and down the road between them to get it painted before Christmas. Or DH is tiering. I am taking my life in my hands every day by teaching children who can't possibly spread Covid unless they visit each other in the wrong tier. The classroom is 100% safe but all other indoor locations are a risk to life and limb.

JudgeRindersMinder · 05/12/2020 16:29

It’s a bit overcast and there was even a shower of rain last night-but it was warm rain! It’s about 23C just now and just perfect (sorry!😂)

anon444877 · 05/12/2020 16:39

Oh sounds lovely, enjoy. You are missing some horrid weather here.

littlbrowndog · 05/12/2020 16:42

St Nicola of the sturgeon made me laugh

Horrid weather here. Sleep inturppted by that thunder again

Nearly went into a tier2 but the weather was too horrid. There was whining from my children. Serves them right as they could of had the joy of breathing tier2 cleanish air

Now they are back in tier 3 and missed that chance 😔😔

littlbrowndog · 05/12/2020 16:43

Tenerife wow. 👍👍👏👏👏👏

Have a great trip

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/12/2020 16:46

@Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons re botanics mine too...I'm fucking going anyway Xmas Grin

derxa · 05/12/2020 16:55

@Bytheloch

I don’t regard the Scotland into England ban as any sort of law, it’s pretendy SNP wet dream law, so it doesn’t count. I would travel there through the boundary not border from my dirtyT4 any day, if I had any reason for exciting travel right now😒 but actually just doing the school run and pick up, work, food shop doesn’t involve a trip south of Berwick
I did it on Wednesday. I didn't see any border guards. I've been having cancer treatment in Lanarkshire but DH lives in family home in England.
Bytheloch · 05/12/2020 16:57

Ahh🙌🏻 Judge congratulations on your great escape, enjoy that winter sun- you can’t say overcast to us back here, we win at overcast and would still be outside on balcony🤣
Please bring us back some super-sized questionable bottles of alcohol we can keep in our cupboards until this time next year, for when we hit tier zero- we’ll all celebrate.
