Biking you pay for Dental checks in England.

Eye tests too, although sometimes you get a 'Free eye test.

Cismyfatarse · 02/12/2020 13:19

That Swinney bloke at N5 English is his brother, David.

Small world!

Bikingbear · 02/12/2020 13:29

@Covidnomore

Is that Free Eye test, meaning in included with contact lens subscription / free if you buy specs, or free eye tests as in NHS pays?

Do kids pay for dental checks too?

Some of the SNP stuff I do agree with but others just seems to be going to far.

Jodri · 02/12/2020 13:38

I’m not really bothered about England’s dental or eye test/check up charges though as I live in Scotland, I have no control over it and I try not to stress about things I have no direct control over.

Yes check ups are free but any treatment I need, as a NHS dental patient, I have to pay 80% of costs. Apparently I always need a scale and polish when I have a check up so I always have something to pay. I don’t get any discount on the glasses I need to purchase and wear after my check ups.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 02/12/2020 13:42

are people under 50 with no underlying conditions not getting a vaccine?

Jodri · 02/12/2020 13:49

@Iwillneverbesatisfied maybe the under 50s will get the cheaper Oxford vaccine?

WouldBeGood · 02/12/2020 13:50

Under fifties after phase 9

WouldBeGood · 02/12/2020 13:51

That’s the last of the official first roll out as I understand it.

So my filthy old tier 4 arse will be vaccinated as the last of the first phase.

Jodri · 02/12/2020 13:53

Sorry clicked post too soon...
as there was some questions that all participants in the Oxford vaccine clinical trial had been under 55 years old (or thereabouts I can’t remember off the top of my head).

WouldBeGood · 02/12/2020 13:53

And apparently the free eye and dental checks pay for themselves in catching conditions early, particularly in those who were worried about costs, so I think they’re officially a Good Thing

Bikingbear · 02/12/2020 13:54

I'm just curious on the charge differences between Scotland and England.

Given the number of vaccines ordered the plan has to be do all adults. Kids will be a while away because of the ethics on testing a vaccine on kids.

The under 50s I guess will be next summer after the oldies.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 02/12/2020 13:54

so under 50s all in one go? or will it be stage 10, stage 11, stage 12 and so on? I'm under 50, classed as vulnerable but I don't know if I'm vulnerable enough to come above stage 9. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

WouldBeGood · 02/12/2020 13:57

@Iwillneverbesatisfied think you’ll be ahead of the under fifties..? If you can’t read this it’s on the bbc website

You'll have had yours tiers....
WouldBeGood · 02/12/2020 13:58

And, oi, @Bikingbear! Less of the oldies 😂

Bikingbear · 02/12/2020 13:58

I've no clue how they'll do it but I'd guess, similar to how they did the flu vaccines, ironing out teething issues with the system as they do it be essentially turn up at the council buildings and job done.

WouldBeGood · 02/12/2020 13:59

I saw on Twitter that NS hadn’t identified vaccination centres yet.... 🙄🙄

Bikingbear · 02/12/2020 14:02

That picture is the "first phase" which means theres a "second phase"

runningpink · 02/12/2020 14:04

Do you think they will reduce the stupid rules gradually once vaccine rolls out or will they continue to control us every way possible until everyone has been done?

Dream of no masks and being able to hug my best friend so hard I will probably break her ribs!

Bikingbear · 02/12/2020 14:04

@WouldBeGood

I saw on Twitter that NS hadn’t identified vaccination centres yet.... 🙄🙄
What a fanny? Surely to god they should have been working that out months ago. My guess was the centres and systems they used for the flu jags would be reassessed tweaked and used.
WouldBeGood · 02/12/2020 14:05

I’ll be ditching my mask when I’m jagged

WouldBeGood · 02/12/2020 14:06

And as I understand it it’s to be rolled out to all adults.

Bikingbear · 02/12/2020 14:06

Running they better rescind all these stupid laws.
Or they're will be riots. People aren't going to stand for it or at least I hope they don't.

WaxOnFeckOff · 02/12/2020 14:10

I'm 9 in first phase, or 8 if it doesn't happen for a while. DH is 2 but doesn't want it as he in general reacts badly to vaccines for the flu etc which he doesn't take either anymore. DC will be phase 2 presumably. Not quite getting the stories of potentially needing a vaccine passport to get in the pub/restaurants/cinemas/to travel. Does that mean that if you are 18 you get to go nowhere for a long time since you are bottom of the pile? Or that families would be unable to go on holiday together or out for a meal until everyone is done? I sincerely hope we don't go down that rabbit hole.
