This is an ongoing thread for Scottish mumsnetters - or indeed non Scottish mumsnetters such as myself, to comment on ongoing covid matters pertinent to ourselves, in a hopefully not too partisan and friendly fashion.

Are we all just doomed to stay in our current tier unless they can find an excuse to get us up a level? Until we all hit 4 & stay there?
Goal of whole country being in lockdown excepting those dirty days over Christmas Grin

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 21:06

God, I’m fed up

Reckon they’ll say about schools and Christmas tomorrow?

Nail on the head I think. Unfortunately.
WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 21:07

Oh god, @Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons that sounds plausible

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/11/2020 21:08

Personally I think the £500 is vote buying nonsense - some (not all) in the NHS have undoubtedly worked bloody hard but so have people in many other areas. Thousands have lost their jobs, businesses etc. I'm not sure that rewarding people in secure jobs is the way to go.

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 21:09

Totally agree @StatisticallyChallenged

Sorry 😬 We had a lovely walk today - in rain, mud up to ankles, bloody Baltic. So much to look forward to...

Kids are excited about advent though

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/11/2020 21:10

Yep @StatisticallyChallenged, completely agree.

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 21:12

I hate the great outdoors

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 30/11/2020 21:13

Agree StatisticallyChallenged all the poor buggers losing jobs, been on cut wages, care workers who are mostly poorly paid yet were thrown to the wolves. MIL is an in home care worker; at the beginning they were told to wear an apron & carry on as usual, if any of the clients got a cough they could request a mask from the office Hmm

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 21:15

And DP has got horrendous sciatica after tweaking his back today trying to exercise at home as PT banned. He’d been free of it since he’d started this weight training. Totally incapacitated. Feel so sorry for him and sorry how shit things are. If gyms were allowed this wouldn’t have happened.

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/11/2020 21:15

There's been a real sense of some people being more worthy than others the whole way through, right back to childcare for keyworker only. This is just another slice of the same shitty pie.

BBCONEANDTWO · 30/11/2020 21:17

They could have used the money to recruit trained staff to give the vaccine or flu jag, or to take on some bank staff for the next few months to help the actual real problem in the NHS which is staff shortages. Such a case of money IMO

BBCONEANDTWO · 30/11/2020 21:18

'WASTE' sorry

Matilda2013 · 30/11/2020 21:18

The £500 is also going to care home staff is it not? And having relatives in that sector I think it is entirely deserved since they don't get much else.
However I do think it is about her votes and wish she'd stop going on about independence to solve our problems.

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 21:20

Yes. I think GPs are also getting extra money to administer the vaccine though I may be wrong. Mine aren’t even doing flu jabs so I don’t know why they’d need extra cash

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/11/2020 21:20

But that's not headline grabbing because it's just what they should be doing. "We're going to hire people to give vaccines" surely just attracts a national response of "well, duh" whereas this gets a nice video clip and a bbc headline 👍 👌

Rae36 · 30/11/2020 21:28

Reckon they’ll say about schools and Christmas tomorrow?

Surely they have to tell us tomorrow? It's going to be a nightmare for working parents of younger kids if they leave it much later and for older teens at exam level stressing about prelims. And teachers trying to plan their work.

Agree too
Justmuddlingalong · 30/11/2020 21:37

Pondering wether relative who allegedly works for the NHS, but has been off sick all year will be included in the NHS/social care windfall. I'm sure my relative will be pondering that too. 🙄

This is where it's so wrong if it's across the board - or say someone has been working from home the whole time - how have they been heroes? This is why it should never ever have been put out there.

But there you go that's old Dicola for ya!
