This is an ongoing thread for Scottish mumsnetters - or indeed non Scottish mumsnetters such as myself, to comment on ongoing covid matters pertinent to ourselves, in a hopefully not too partisan and friendly fashion.

Sometimes I could kiss the DPD man

StatisticallyChallenged · 29/11/2020 21:01

I hit peak DPD the other day- three separate vans came in one day. Too much online shopping

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2020 21:08

Respect @StatisticallyChallenged

AgentCooper · 29/11/2020 22:40

@WouldBeGood

I’ll take any old shit of they let me out. 😂
Resounding yes to this Grin

Today is my birthday and me and DH were supposed to be staying at the Witchery right now. It would have been our first night away just the pair of us since DS was born 3 years ago. I was so excited at the thought of going out for a nice meal and going to the National Portrait Gallery instead of the dinosaur bit in the National Museum (which is great but...).

So today we drove out of tier 4 riddled Glasgow and spent an hour on a beach with the wee one. It was bloody lovely and I feel it’s blown away some cobwebs. We weren’t within 10 feet of anyone else, didn’t go to any shops or touch anything but shells and stones. It seemed completely mental to me that we were breaking the law.

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2020 22:50

@AgentCooper happy birthday!

So rubbish to miss out on your nice trip. But I’m glad you got a run out, at least

AgentCooper · 29/11/2020 23:01

Thank you @WouldBeGood Smile Flowers

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2020 23:26

@WaxOnFeckOff sorry if I’ve missed it, but any news on Mr Wax? Hope he’s ok

WaxOnFeckOff · 29/11/2020 23:40

Happy Birthday @AgentCooper. It really is rubbish. Out of 4 birthdays we've only managed to get out for a meal for 1.

@WouldBeGood, thanks for asking - I think I posted last night but now can't remember. Yes, he got out last night, arm is still the same but they'd treated it as dvt and Consultant re viewed the ultrasound and said he's 90-95% sure it is. They had him booked to stay in last night and have a CT this morning but agreed that he could go home last night and have the CT scan (without dye) as an outpatient. He's on a high dose of blood thinning tablets for 3 weeks and hopefully move to a lower dose for 6 months after that. He's going into work tomorrow Hmm. Slept a lot today and I gave him light chores to keep him active Grin

he's to be very careful not to cut himself or bang anything and they said not to shave but at work he's only allowed to be clean shaven or have a beard - nothing in between so we'll see how that goes...

Bikingbear · 30/11/2020 00:00

Agent Cooper Happy Birthday my youngest is in the Dino phase and I forgot about the dinos in the NMS. See when we manky folk are allowed to visit.

My family are all winter birthdays so just about to be hit with the whole issue. I'm just thinking maybe we will for once have birthday parties in the middle of summer...

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 00:06

Fingers crossed, @WaxOnFeckOff. Hope they get it sorted quickly

giggly · 30/11/2020 00:22

@Alittlewornout yes the student nurse in the car thing , we’ve been trying to figure out how I deep clean my car before I pick my dc up every day. Is this to be done in my time or NHS time of which there is no spare time in my day to do this Hmm

Alittlewornout · 30/11/2020 07:21

Exactly @giggly! We have said the very same thing. As they are our own cars I think we have the right to say no ( someone pointed this out to our manager). Besides the car thing the homes we visit at the minute you can't really socially distance so an extra person just compounds the situation.
But hey ho its typical of management ( who are all able to work from home with up to date IT).

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 07:37

Hope everyone is in Tartan Max today for St Andrew’s Day.

IwishIwasyoda · 30/11/2020 08:43

Re schools taking extended Xmas break I have written to my MSP and said if they decide to do this, they also need to make it clear that the February break should be no more than 2 days (i.e. a long weekend). As things stand in Edinburgh, kids would get 20 days at school after Xmas before being off again for over a week which is frankly ridiculous.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 30/11/2020 09:33

The feb holidays in Glasgow are already a day longer as that's where they put they day they took off summer.

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 11:05

I was taking the piss about St Andrew’s Day but our leader has addressed the nation.

Rae36 · 30/11/2020 11:47

I am not feeling remotely patriotic this St Andrew's Day. We've gone overboard for celebrating every possible celebration this year just to cheer us up, but I'm not feeling it today at all. What a shame, it's not Scotland's fault life is shit, or poor old St Andrew.

Maybe I'll nip out and buy a last minute haggis.

Bikingbear · 30/11/2020 12:27

Certainly no patriotic feelings here for St Andrews day. Please don't tell me Queen Nic was in a kilt and the white stilettos 😬😎

Rae36 · 30/11/2020 12:59

I'm so fed up this Monday morning that I've eaten 3 kit kats. I had one, that didn't quite satisfy me so I had another one, then there was only one left in the packet so I figured I might as well eat that one too. Only 2 finger ones though, just in case you think I'm a glutton or anything.

littlbrowndog · 30/11/2020 13:09

Omg I hope not

I'm with you on this, I've opened the Christmas chocolate stash...
littlbrowndog · 30/11/2020 13:10

Sounds great. No point to leave a wee lonely kitkat

littlbrowndog · 30/11/2020 13:11

Me too. Kids will have nothing left for their stockings. Needs must

anon444877 · 30/11/2020 13:21

My youngest is home from school, a suspected covid case. I've eaten too much of the Christmas panettone after getting through a couple of work calls where I was interrupted every 5 minutes!

Oh dear I need to redo my resilience homework.
