This is an ongoing thread for Scottish mumsnetters - or indeed non Scottish mumsnetters such as myself, to comment on ongoing covid matters pertinent to ourselves, in a hopefully not too partisan and friendly fashion.

Anon fingers cross it isn't covid.

How is Mr Waxon?

Would be mean to leave a solitary kitkat, the are pack animals.Wink

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/11/2020 13:45

I'm on the malteser truffles. It's that sort if day

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 13:48

I’ve eaten a pie 😳

anon444877 · 30/11/2020 13:59

My dd seems fine, but we think someone in her class. I may need a wee dram to celebrate the bard tonight!

Bytheloch · 30/11/2020 14:41

Ah wax good to hear it’s only the beard challenge which will impact work.

Trying to avoid the news today, as I knew maximum tartan chat would be served at us. Personally, I’ve been enjoying Neil Oliver’s take on things over the weekend. He’s the same dirty, unjustified T4 as me.

Also spotted on the SG website, the date and time we leave the current tiers🤔
(‘ until 6pm on 11 December’) the way it’s phrased sounds like a commitment to us leaving that tier.
It would just list the review date otherwise? Have I missed the bit where this was confirmed?
Though now I’ve seen what’s been announced in Wales today, I won’t hold my breath for any tier changes.

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/11/2020 15:08

i've been enjoying a lot from Neil Oliver lately. Another in the realm of JKR who talks sense and isn't afraid to stand up and say it.

I would expect Tier changes (if any) to be given on Tuesday 8th. All other Tiers will have their normal reviews tomorrow and then again on the 8th. If they stick to what they said in the beginning that is which had already been broken at least twice and we are only a few weeks in.

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 15:16

Another one who’s liking Neil Oliver. Against my better judgment as he normally gets right on my tits

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 15:18

So even us filthy Lanarkshire types should be freed? Relatively speaking

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 30/11/2020 15:20

If Mr Waxon doesn't want to rock a hipster beard, could you try, er, waxing any unwanted facial growth for him?

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/11/2020 15:26

It's my day off so he'd left before I got up. I think he has gone with risking his life with a wet shave as usual as has asked me to order in some new blades.

DSs both have long hair and beards so he likes to be different - though to be fair, I don't have a beard yet either.

Christmasbiscuit · 30/11/2020 15:45

@WouldBeGood

Oh no, we're too filthy to ever be freed
NotAnActualSheep · 30/11/2020 15:50

@StatisticallyChallenged

I'm on the malteser truffles. It's that sort if day
Oh yes, I'm with you here. I've been working my way through the stollen bites. I feel a bit sick now.

Hope your DH is OK waxon. I'd be terrified by the prohibition on shaving cuts etc. It's just asking for trouble, surely...

Oh, and happy birthday agentC but bummer on the cancellation of your meal. CakeGin

NS seemed rather coy on the tier review tomorrow. Normally she says something like "not expecting any changes to BA announced tomorrow" but she didn't say that at the briefing (or the BBC summary of it anyway). Which could be good news, or could be bad news. I've just lost any feeling of which way it could go... I'd really, really like that pre- Christmas pizza and wine (or somewhere to wait inside after 6pm to have a tea while DS has his sports classes, frankly).

Oor Jason has banned carol singing, though, which is nice of him.

NotAnActualSheep · 30/11/2020 15:52

"to be announced", obviously. Nothing to do with BA... they are totally irrelevant to Scotland...

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/11/2020 15:53

I've been dairy free for 2 years due to breasfeeding a dairy allergic baby. I'm now freeeee. Not too bothered about having actual milk and it seems that dairy now slightly disagrees with me so I'm skipping the healthy dairy and using up my body tolerance on unhealthy crap I have not been able to eat.

RaspberryCoulis · 30/11/2020 16:05

Funny how there's a fuck up with the figures the day before they're due to make an announcement about tiers - oh we can't open anything / move you down the tiers, incomplete data...

NotAnActualSheep · 30/11/2020 16:15

I'm not sure how I'd cope dairy free... I love cheese and chocolate too much. You have my complete sympathies and understanding!

Hmmm raspberry - that does sound plausible. Bugger.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 30/11/2020 16:58

apparently independence will cure covid. we'll all recover so much quicker and easier from this nasty virus and the horrible impact on businesses that had nothing whatsoever to do with SNP decision making. Also Scotland won't do public sector pay freezes (if you vote for SNP of course!). Money will come out of thin air I'm sure or from nasty westminster who will never give us enough, how dare they.

You'd think there was an election coming up....Hmm

Bytheloch · 30/11/2020 17:16

Sure, that money tree has been given a shake today, with the £500 payments to NHS workers. I’m sure a decent pay rise in previous years wouldn’t have gone amiss and I don’t begrudge any frontline workers receiving a bonus, but where is this money coming from? Leftover from the failed Children’s hospital budget? Or some loose change found down the back of the Louisa Jordan hospital sofa? Important to announce it at the party conference today for approval too.
Honestly, can people not see through the performance?

Between that and grown men discussing whether a ‘Scotch Egg’ counts as a substantial meal in a pub🤪 so you can have a drink- I’m reminded why I wanted to avoid the news today🤦‍♀️

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 30/11/2020 17:26

Snorting at Scotch Egg being a substantial meal!

I’ve finally caught up with the thread - Wax glad your man’s ok

I always think NS has at least an eye & a half on the UN; so very keen to be seen to be good (rather than etc)

Happy nibbles to all those having a scoff (I hope you’re all wearing bloody tartan!)

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 18:07

I like your reasoning @Iwillneverbesatisfied 😃

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/11/2020 18:25

DH (potential recipient of the bribe £500) already moaning. Sure he is on one of the lower NHS scales, but on the other hand, like the rest of his colleagues, he has a secure job with good terms and conditions and was getting paid.

He's accepted the need for an electric razor though so is away searching for an early christmas present bargain.

Bytheloch · 30/11/2020 19:05

I’d never want to start a ‘who deserves it and who doesn’t’ chat, just wondering if any Westminster money is supporting those payments, because in almost the same breath today we were told that fiscal independence to recover from Covid is possible too🤷‍♀️

I’m wandering off thread topic a bit now and talking about chocolates we’ve scoffed is far more cheery!

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/11/2020 19:07

Today I've had a magnum and some double dipped chocolate toffees - the night is young though.

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 19:09

It is really annoying me.

Well crabbit tonight

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 30/11/2020 19:18

unison are doing a live stream on facebook soon about their 'victory' getting the £500 payment. I wonder how many folk will come on and comment its not that good actually! My rellies who work in health and social care are not impressed. Will they get it before xmas I wonder?
