This is an ongoing thread for Scottish mumsnetters - or indeed non Scottish mumsnetters such as myself, to comment on ongoing covid matters pertinent to ourselves, in a hopefully not too partisan and friendly fashion.

Yes, that’s exactly the kind of thing I’m contemplating now.
A Safari Park Christmas.
A kind of, you can look but can’t touch, approach to the extended family.

We would be going via Glasgow further up north so I suspect that wouldn’t be encouraged by the powers that be.

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/11/2020 14:37

OMG I think I'd be pissed before I made it to the second round 🤣😂🤣

2nd round you move onto normal wine. That's just wot us posh folks have at dinner parties with our canapes before being seated for dinner... :o

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/11/2020 14:39

You'd need an expendable one of those gripper pole things my mum used to have to pick stuff up she'd dropped. So you could hand out presents if they were too delicate to throw.

WouldBeGood · 27/11/2020 14:39

As long as they leave my windscreen wipers alone

WouldBeGood · 27/11/2020 14:40

Vouchers of course! Remember the guidance!

Dinnafashyersel · 27/11/2020 14:41

May have to get my Mum to join MN - she's promised not to in case she finds me. The Safari Park Stuff would have her howling. She is on the Covid Marshall rota at Church.

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/11/2020 14:44

If we don't have our own elderly relative can we win/adopt one? We could throw baubles and win any we hit?

Or maybe just a sponsor certificate with a photo and the opportunity to visit once a year?

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/11/2020 14:46

I don't think this thread will make it to hogmanae so can clever folks start working on the title for the next one? I appreciate I've used up a lot of the thread. I'm too gobby but in fits and starts or tits and farts..

WouldBeGood · 27/11/2020 14:52

I presciently bought sugar cubes last week for just this drink

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/11/2020 14:57

That is fortuitous but why haven't you mentioned this and reminded the rest of us eh? Angry
WouldBeGood · 27/11/2020 14:59

I have let you all down @WaxOnFeckOff

By way of recompense, I can highly recommend Asda Spiced Cranberry and clementine gin. Only £13 too

titsbumfannythelot · 27/11/2020 14:59

You forgot to mention the angostura bitters for that little gem of a drink 👌🏻

WouldBeGood · 27/11/2020 15:00

Ooh! I feel really grown up as I now own angostura bitters!

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/11/2020 15:04

I've never put those in @titsbumfannythelot, does it make much difference?

That gins sounds a good deal. I personally don't like Gin (or cranberries) but other posters will appreciate it :o

It seems I'm a fussy bugger...

WouldBeGood · 27/11/2020 15:06

I’m not a big gin fan but this is nice.

I’m trying to drink something I don’t like as much as wine 😃

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/11/2020 15:13

DS likes gin and cider so I've bought him Kopparberg Gin.

Bikingbear · 27/11/2020 15:21

Those discussions about the Safari Park, is it not full of dinosaurs?

I want to go but scared to book incase we get a knock back for being from a clarty area.

Bikingbear · 27/11/2020 15:23

I doubt will make it to advent nevermind the end of the year.

WouldBeGood · 27/11/2020 15:23

@Bikingbear no, that’s Jurassic Park

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/11/2020 15:26

is it not full of dinosaurs

I don't think dinosaurs still exist?

Are you worried they'll eat the elderly? They might be fake?

I think there is an exhibition but no idea whether they will be checking your home address. Seems 33 fines been handed out in first 5 days for being out of area. No idea if that was because they were stopped for something else but presumably so.

I can't see the risk to be honest as it's outdoors and well spaced but is currently in t4 so presumably shut? It would be a risk to book but i think would be easily refunded if shut.

Angostura is the gift that keeps giving. Even the next morning.......
WaxOnFeckOff · 27/11/2020 15:42

Just googled, sounds a bit "aromatic" for my tastes - too Gin ey?

NotAnActualSheep · 27/11/2020 15:49

Ha! This thread is getting better and better. The safari park idea is genius. Nobody could object to that on safety grounds, surely apart from the dinosaurs, maybe Drink recommendations are welcome too. DH has had a parcel delivered, which has "Wine Racks R Us" or similar on the side of the box. So I guess that's my Christmas present, then... He hasn't understood the concept that although, yes, at the moment we have too much wine for the cupboards, this is not a long- term, or even a medium term situation. The average half life of a bottle of wine in our house is about 4 hours.

I hope the finished 2m crackers make an appearance on the thread! Though obviously the use of the jaffa cake boxes will produce the waste product of 2m of jaffa cakes. As those can't be eaten in Scotland at the moment (too joyful) I selflessly offer my services to the thread (free of charge) as entirely un registered waste carrier to dispose of them correctly, safely and environmentally soundly.

I'd need to see your licence to make sure you weren't hiding in a hedge and eating them.

Bikingbear · 27/11/2020 15:56

I was slightly more conc about the elderly being mistaken for Dinosaurs, or small people asking difficult questions like 'Gran do you remember the dinosaurs" 😬 than the dinos eating Ģranny. She might not taste very good either too fatty or too boney.
