I keep hearing about how it's all the same and lockdown is bad everywhere - the no households mixing in tiers 1-4 isn't like everywhere else, it's an outlier. Only full lockdowns have had this rule in other countries.

If it is the crux of it, fine, but why all the other rules then?

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/11/2020 11:42

Lockdown/contact tracing etc are all not recommended by WHO.

iquitelikenormalityafterall · 12/11/2020 11:53

I thought that too anon444877. Scotland has definitely had a long time not being allowed to each other’s homes. It’s starting to have an impact on my kids, for sure, the no mixing of households. They’ve not seen their friends for ages (all under 7) so the only socialising they are doing is at school/ nursery and never getting that release of just being able to run about with their friends. They have each other at least, but it’s harder in winter to arrange for a play outside. Gets dark so early through the week, and seems to be pouring rain every weekend here.

anon444877 · 12/11/2020 12:06

Yes mine are not big outdoor rain enthusiasts, and they have no local family so add in the travel rules and they've seen one set of grandparents once this year, in august, and the other set once in feb half term.

Still at least we are half way through November and this year is drawing to a close!

tigger1001 · 12/11/2020 13:28

@WouldBeGood

Yep. It’s like when AIDS started .. big blame culture. Really unpleasant and destroying lives and livelihoods.
I've said this a few times about it reminding me about the aids campaign in the late 80's early 90's
RaraRachael · 12/11/2020 15:16

Our council seems to have seen sense at last. Windows in classrooms are to be opened at break and lunchtimes so that ventilation is allowed but we will avoid ridiculous scenarios of pupils and staff freezing and sitting in class in coats.

Perihelion · 12/11/2020 20:13

I'd call that the opposite of seeing sense.
This country has been woeful at placing importance on ventilation. All the cleaning, hand washing and 2 metre distancing is pointless if people are congregating in unventilated rooms. Goes for schools and hospitality.

waitforitwaitforit · 12/11/2020 20:53

Our kids sit in coats anyway. They're quite pleased that they're finally allowed.

MumofHunter · 12/11/2020 22:01

Yes there was a study showing ventilation and the emptying of rooms every hour max is key. I felt like throwing something at the tv when Ruth and Richard were saying test and protect us failing here and the FM needs to get a grip. 94 per cent of contacts are contacted in the target time, the WHO target is 80 per cent! Done that to take the heat away from Dido's 40 per cent successful system. Argh!

RaraRachael · 12/11/2020 22:11

Well I'm glad I'm not freezing at my work any more. Last week the windows were open, a gale blowing outside and the blinds banging around all over the place. But hey ho I'm wrong Hmm

WouldBeGood · 12/11/2020 22:14

I think there needs to be sensible ventilation, as @RaraRachael describes.

The virus wasn’t rife in hospitality venues, without ice cold temperatures

Ds’ school seems sensible but very normal.

Awrite · 12/11/2020 22:14

Windows are open in every room at my school and my children's schools. We are all layering up. Lots of happy pupils in their outdoor jackets. Grin

WouldBeGood · 12/11/2020 22:17

I’m not sure most sources agree the track and trace is working

shambolic

Scotslassie1 · 12/11/2020 22:19

I saw Ruth on STV, running with the 'testing's crap in Scotland' rubbish.

I know where you're coming from Rara as blinds battering around is so distracting for the children.

RaraRachael · 12/11/2020 22:31

Our door is also open all the time and the first aid post is right outside it, plus the office, so there are continual comings and goings, talking etc.

Also , our heating goes off after lunchtime so by the end of the afternoon it's really cold (even with our lesser ventilation). At least we don't have to stay later for meetings.

Thankfully we don't have any children sitting in their coats.

WouldBeGood · 12/11/2020 22:41

It seems weird how all schools are different.

As I say, ds’ secondary doesn’t have any of these things. SD from teachers. Masks in corridors and that’s about it. So far so good

Bytheloch · 13/11/2020 13:08

I’ve just heard the umpteenth advert saying ‘we’re here to keep you safe’ ‘our safe environment’ etc. Stop saying safe. I keep myself and my family safe by not stepping out into the road without looking, trying to drive safely. Not walking too close to the edge on a hill, etc, etc. Businesses don’t keep me safe. Can’t someone come up with an alternative to this ‘safe’ chat.
Clean? ‘Welcoming’ I don’t know what, I just know my tolerance for the word safe is waning.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/11/2020 13:29

Agree, it's the most overused and misused word, that and "risk" .

Apparently me being unable to contact my local sainsburys by telephone when no one was there during my click and collect slot in the car park was all about keeping me safe and protecting vulnerable customers. Actually no way to get to speak to anyone without going into the store.

Anyway if we ever get out of this, I'm sure many people will be unable to actually run their own lives without a daily briefing telling them what to do.

titsbumfannythelot · 13/11/2020 13:42

Yep. And people who sign off emails with 'stay safe' 🙄

BlueThursday · 13/11/2020 13:47

The deputy CMO says rates are still high in the central belt due to personal care, shopping and hospitality; how can hospitality be at fault if it’s been shut for a month

anon444877 · 13/11/2020 13:49

virtually impossible to get through to a real life store colleague these days on the phone - that's one way I'd like to turn the clock back.

Who cares about freedoms, as long as we're safe eh, or have the appearance of being safe.

dementedpixie · 13/11/2020 13:51

We really need proper answers about how its being transmitted now. Its not gym classes or pubs or anything else they've shut so what the hell is driving cases now? Pisses me off !!

anon444877 · 13/11/2020 13:51

I'm not sure they really know the source of most infections, after all, so far it's been high times for aggregate data mishandling. They might as well choose a random group to blame every few weeks.

dementedpixie · 13/11/2020 13:54

And I just know they're going to put Lanarkshire in level 4 next week just to piss me off even more!

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/11/2020 13:56

They might as well choose a random group to blame every few weeks.

Is that not what they've already been doing? Folk at home/Folk in pubs/students/house parties/Tories etc etc
