I'm not really political. I despise the Tories for their treatment of the poor, low paid, disabled, and for their rape clause. Not because of their handling of COVID. I'm no member of the SNP or Labour either!!

What's wrong with a daily update?? What harm does it do?? Really?? It seems it's only the fervent SNP-haters who are so against daily updates. Daily updates better than too little updates. If you don't like it you can always just not tune in. I barely watch them, but I don't allow political beliefs to make me resent that they are there.

Just don’t do it. Unless you’re in an area of high prevalence. There’s no logical, justified, scientific reason to. I have lost all trust and respect. I’m guessing there won’t be a daily update today anyways. They’ll be hiding!

Yep, agree, I will be going regardless but theoretically we could be stopped and fined - will need to skulk about somewhere like we are 10 and playing hide and seek.

That's the problem, since when did we lose the ability to think for ourselves? Most people I know are being sensible and using their own common sense and as said many times the idiots that will have parties etc will continue to do so, they never listed to authority before Covid and won't start now.

And all that guff early on about an adult conversation? It's more like primary school every day.

Agree that most people are being sensible and doing their bit. I fill in a survey every couple of weeks telling the Scot Gov where I've been and who I've seen. I am registered as a volunteer for vaccine trials, I have downloaded the app on my phone. But as a GROWN UP I should be able to make my own decisions without fear that the police will knock on my door and ask how many people are in the house!

And totally agree that the briefing needs to stop. It fuels the idea that there is something to be briefed about, something to be cowering in your house in absolute fear of. If you're interested enough to want to know the daily new cases and whatever, then there are plenty of websites where you can look for that. Briefings should ONLY happen when there is something major to announce. And even then, it needs to be focused on changes to the rules only, nothing else.

The pronouncements are made from the podium, the press ask some pre-vetted banal virtue signal questions. The BBC publish the key bits on the website. Then by teatime the politicians and media have given it all a jolly good spin and we're all in a lather about the next cycle of active inaction.

Read 1984 for the first time to keep abreast of my kids a couple of years ago. It read like farce at the time but politicians and hangers on Worldwide seem to be regarding it as the Gold Standard for Public Life atm.

Also, why is she saying things like "the virus wants to" or "the virus is trying to" or "the virus wants nothing more than to"...

All total bollocks. Because it is a virus and doesn't have that thought process. We're not children. We are capable of understanding a virus without having to envisage it as a big scary monster.

I never really believed 1984 would happen until now.

Up until last Tuesday I was getting e mails daily from NHS Glasgow with a list of schools and businesses with positive cases . The e mails have now stopped . I was wondering if anyone knew why ? Perhaps too many cases and they don’t want people to panic ?

I'd say so. A school I'm involved with has had a case and it doesn't seem to have been in the papers. There are probably so many now that it's not interesting any more. I know of a school with 6 teachers with suspected covid but that's not been in the papers either.

Well, I managed an indoor lunch with my family (booked 2 tables next to eachother) at a restaurant.

Then sat in the garden outside at my parent's house (only inside for a brief toilet trip).

Sadly, I think this will be the last time I see them again for a long time.
