Airbridges - will Scotland have separate rules?

If air bridges are agreed with some countries, does anyone know if that's for whole of UK or would Scotland be able to do something different regarding quarantine?
I get confused as to what Scotland has control over versus what's centrally decided.

You can also tell cars first registered in different areas by the first two letters of the registration plate.

Mascotte · 09/07/2020 09:43

And now, of course, each Scottish car is required to contain bagpipes and tartan masks, clearly visible, to show we are different from the diseased English.

SockYarn · 09/07/2020 09:46

My car was first registered in Southampton. The sorts of people who think it's OK to stand on the border and tell people to fuck off back home would probably have an issue with that.

This is the kind of comment that make it impossible to have any kind of reasoned discussion. The 'SNP bad' brigade are just as bad. One side shutting down the other.
rookiemere · 09/07/2020 09:56

I'm sorry it was just a throwaway comment from a friend I guess they must have had the scottish flag on the number plate.

Also loads of cars heading south when I was out last Friday/Saturday true not all of them likely to be heading to England, but I'm sure a fair proportion will be. We'll see what impact it has on infection rates in a week or so I would think.

Cars registered in Scotland have an S at the front of the number plate. Not sure if there's a second letter as well. I've just looked out my window on to my Edinburgh street and as none have Scottish number plates I can't confirm! It's nothing to do with a Scottish flag

Not that I'm dull or bored at all, but here it is

Airbridges - will Scotland have separate rules?
midnightstar66 · 09/07/2020 10:18

I had no idea it was that specific @Mascotte thanks for that little early morning bit of dullish trivia. Might help in a pub quiz some day!

Mascotte · 09/07/2020 10:21

😂

I am more concerned atm about internal travel, by train and by bus, if social distancing is still in place but we are moving rapidly through the phases and getting everyone back to work.

How can we get to work safely (and school)?

I havent seen nor heard any further messages from either government about WFH being the default and my employer hopes to get everyone back by September.

Thinking about my office building alone, we were all on top of each other previously (desks v v close together), competing for meeting rooms, shared kitchen areas, not enough toilet areas and sharing a building (and lift) with 5 other companies.

I have no idea what their idea of 'covid secure' is, but they've gone from WFH til new year to return to work in September. In addition to the work environment, the commute is a concern, and wearing masks is not going to stop the crowdedness. Everyone on here knows what the trains are like in rush hour with standing room only and very few carriages.

I think there needs to be some kind of plan etc for mass return to work safely.

Alaimo · 09/07/2020 10:37

@waxonfeckoff 'you could also wear a mask and go somewhere quite at night for a bit of exercise'

I could, but would risk a £400+ fine as it's against the quarantine rules.

I got tested for Covid this week as I wanted to be sure I was healthy & not putting fellow passengers at risk. Test came back negative, so all good. Chances of having caught it in the last couple of days are very low. I don't think I'd put anyone at risk by going for a walk late at night or very early morning. However, I'm not going to risk getting a major fine!

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/07/2020 10:54

We had a lease car for years that had been brought up from London and had the registration beginning LS, every time I booked it in to garage or ferry or whatever people kept asking if I meant SL. Now one of our cars is SL, it gets confusing and obviously there is no guarantee that the registered address of cars matches the number plate.

I know of a few folk currently on holiday down south.

Does anyone know if there is a way if knowing whether new cases reported are in a care setting or community? We had a number of new cases registered in Forth Valley and there doesn't seem to be the same focus in the media (unless I've missed it) as there was in the d&g cluster. So thinking that might be because they are in care setting or that they aren't so close to England so can't be as easily attributed to those germ ridden southerners.

Bonkers comments this morning! 😶
@willowkins it sounds like a lovely holiday. I love Arisaig! Guessing you'll be staying Fort Augustus end of LN but if you're up as far as Inverness, you could head to Loch Morlich (Aviemore) which is stunning. Nice walk to the Lochan Uaine ( the green loch) and head back the same way or down A9 and across. Big drive though and apologies if you already know this!
Also Skye's roads should be quieter than normal so you could go right up to the Quaraing ( also a long drive ) but beautiful place!
Also Castle Tioram is lovely (Ardnamurchan) - you walk out to it when the tide's out.
Apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs and you know all this! Oh and there's a LOT of ticks around this year so bring a tick remover if planning any walking.

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/07/2020 11:19

A86 from fort William to Aviemore, no need to go up to Inverness, as lovely as Inverness is.

Arkadia · 09/07/2020 12:12

@Mascotte, I never knew... The things you learn :D

Wrong thread, have asked them to move.

Willowkins · 09/07/2020 15:19

Ticks! Shock Thanks for the warning. Thanks also for your lovely suggestions. I have previously driven as far as Gairloch (glorious sailing on The Minch) but that was about 20 years ago and I am having to relearn everything.

rookie you forgot to add "with nicest, kindest, warm-hearted people"

TeenTraumaTrials · 20/07/2020 18:34

WOOP WOOP. We're off to Spain next week

So glad you'll get your hol too @trumpusaflump

TeenTraumaTrials · 20/07/2020 18:36

Oops that should have been @trumpisaflump

trumpisaflump · 21/07/2020 11:21

@TeenTraumaTrials I know! I could have cried with relief when I heard. It's the first morning since March I think that I've woken up without a horrible sinking, anxious feeling and actually felt happy. I don't think I've had a week off work since Christmas so I'll probably just sleep the whole time I'm there 😆
That's fab you're getting your holiday too. Have a great time.
