sex question

please can you mnetters advice about your view about sex during your period? Is it something you'd/your OH would never do or does it not bother you?

Sorry to ask this and I have name changed! It's just that for me it's never been an issue and nor has it with my ex partners. I have very light periods anyway.

But my new partner has expressed complete disgust at the idea and it makes me feel like I'm unclean.

Never bothered me , and ermm... never an issue with partners that I know..

It is his choice but he needs to express his opinion in a way that doesn't make you feel unclean, that is . It is just your body doing it's thaing...

ChasingSquirrels · 04/04/2010 21:35

ditto MW.

Had this discussion with a friend the other day who said her dh just wouldn't even contemplate it when she has her period.

Popzie · 04/04/2010 21:36

I think it's okay at the start and the end of your period when flow is not too strong. We'd give it a rest on day one and two. Uusally it's a case of'we can't, no really we shouldn't, oh go on then' not planned, just happens! Shouldn't be made to feel 'unclean'. So Edwardian.

Malificence · 04/04/2010 21:37

He's a prat and you're right, it's no big deal ( or at least it shouldn't be for grown ups) as long as he hasn't got a blood phobia.

You can get special sponge tampons that will enable sex without mess but I can't really understand what the problem is.

baluchi · 04/04/2010 21:37

Agreed

thelunar66 · 04/04/2010 21:42

I wouldn't due to laundry issues.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 04/04/2010 21:45

DH doesn't care. I don't mind, as in, it doesn't squick me out, but I tend not to as I'm so uncomfortable during my period that I don't want anyone near me.

OnlyWantsOne · 04/04/2010 21:46

sponge tampons? never seen them and too scared to google it.

Any hoo, no bother in this house either, tis natural and normal hint it bah!

Numberfour · 04/04/2010 21:51

never used to be a problem for me, but since DS my periods are VERY heavy so it is out of the question purely because of the mess

Eglu · 04/04/2010 22:00

Never something that I or Dh have wanted to do, so can't really help.

PatTheHammer · 04/04/2010 22:06

sorry this is a bit TMI for some but presumably those of you that do indulge it's just straightforward sex with no .....extras?

BitOfFun · 04/04/2010 22:11

I like a side order of poppadoms, Pat.

PatTheHammer · 04/04/2010 22:14

I prefer Sag Paneer, but each to their own.

jenduff · 04/04/2010 22:35

I'm unbothered but DH not keen although that could be because I've been a little tetchy

mollybob · 04/04/2010 22:50

always found a good orgasm great for period pain - DH generally happy whenever he gets it

Gay40 · 04/04/2010 23:00

Just a bit more mesy but never a reason not to. Fling a towel down lol

Bumbleconfusus · 05/04/2010 06:13

Absolutely a no no for my DH and its against his religion. I have to have a shower after its ended before we can do anything. Fine by me though.

ScarletPoppy · 05/04/2010 06:34

Try it IN the shower - then there's no mess afterwards!!

AnnieBeansMum · 05/04/2010 07:34

No sorry, I wouldn't. I may be "Edwardian" as a previous poster said, but thought of doing that when I have my period absolutely turns my stomach (DH's too!). But, if it's something that both you and your partner want to do and are comfortable with - go ahead!

TinaSparkles · 05/04/2010 07:45

DH stated at the beginning that he wasn't keen because he found it too messy (not unnatural.

I've never been in the mood round that time either.

But each to their own.

EricNorthmansmistress · 05/04/2010 07:55

DH isn't keen. That's not to say he hasn't on occasion with a condom but he's squeamish about it and would rather not. I don't mind to be honest, I don't usually feel up for it then anyway. I went out with a guy once who claimed he had been down on his gf once when she was on her period and liked the taste.

That's a bit gross.

EricNorthmansmistress · 05/04/2010 07:56

Oh yes it has made me a bit cross in the past when he has reacted like {gross} {shudder} at my menstrual blood - but he assures me he doesn't mean to be offensive, he is genuinely squeamish and the thought of it squicks him.

damnedchilblains · 05/04/2010 08:08

nope not interested tbh and it's probably tmi but I've got a strong sense of smell and I just can 't abide the smell of blood. Besides far too clumpy and and gooey for my liking.

Besides, I'm guessing I belong to the same religion as bumbleconfusus' dh, so it's a no no anyhow!
