please can you mnetters advice about your view about sex during your period? Is it something you'd/your OH would never do or does it not bother you?

Sorry to ask this and I have name changed! It's just that for me it's never been an issue and nor has it with my ex partners. I have very light periods anyway.

But my new partner has expressed complete disgust at the idea and it makes me feel like I'm unclean.

If you want to have sex during your period without mess, you just wear a diaphragm.

Simples.

Beppy sponge tampons look ideal, pity they are very expensive and not reusable.

"But bleeding from the vagina isn't?"

Disenchanted, unfortunately I'm one of those types who kind of think it is pretty gross I absolutely hate my period, it's smelly, wet, sticky, hot, allsorts fall out and that's just to do with the blood I get pain, I get serious mood swings blah blah blah blah blah

However, the image of a man bleeding through that tiny little hole and then injecting it into me so that after 20 minutes I have another persons blood coming out of me well you where I'm going. Also for some reason the image of a man bleeding just makes me think of a std

It doesn't bother me or DP at all.

I think it's fine for your DP not to be keen - we all have things we like or don't like - but to express disgust and make you feel unclean is totally not on.

Bleeding from the vagina is normal and natural and supposed to happen. (Except where it is not pregnancy/ menstruation related.)

Bleeding from the penis is always a symptom of something wrong - injury, or illness.

Why would one have the same response to both?

Muslim, but found the idea of it pretty bleurgh before I even knew about "the rule" anyway. Dh has wanted to a few times but he can go fly a kite for all I care.

damnedchilblains & VicarInaTuTu - this has happened to me twice recently! Never in the past but twice after errrr enthusiastic sex my period has started. Once it wasn't due for another 10 days. At first I wondered what on earth the blood was - thought I'd been damaged in some way! But then it just turned into a normal period. Very strange...

ewwww i never would. but then again any excuse not to is my world.

Kiwinyc · 06/04/2010 11:15

not a regular occurence anymore here, but in the past with we may have done in the last day or so with a towel underneath. Generally I'm reluctant though and would never do it in 'full flow' iyswim, eurgh, its just too messy.

MathsMadMummy · 06/04/2010 11:46

no way I would during the first few days, it used to be so heavy, bad tummy ache etc. haven't had a period since DS was born so not an issue (the issue now is finding time/energy!)

pre-children, we would on the last day or two when it's really light, as for some reason I would feel quite horny then! hormone changes I spose.

there is actually a term for oral sex during periods... rainbow kiss I think?

a girl DH once knew (NOT like that!!!) wouldn't go out with any guy unless he did that!
