Twas talking to a friend of mine and we were having a rather pished conversation about sex. I said I thought there is a difference between making love and f**cking even within the confines of a loving, long term relationship. She was aghast and thought that sex everytime with her dp was making love because they loved one another!

at 'make love'

But yes, there are different types aren't there? long slow 'sensual' types you could term 'love-making' , then there's the good hard fuck and everything in between

loopylou6 · 14/05/2009 13:17

We have slow and gentle ones will hair stroking , then we have the ones where we throw each other round the bedroom

stripeypineapple · 14/05/2009 13:19

Agree with you Jazzi, there's def a difference; sometimes it's very loving and other times it's more....feral(!?)

Also agree you MaDuggar ....making love...

Overmydeadbody · 14/05/2009 13:21

maybe some people just have theoretical sex (or three hours of foreplay followed by a sleep)

Goober · 14/05/2009 13:22

I have both but prefer the fuck actually!

crokky · 14/05/2009 13:23

Have to say "making love" is just GROSS!

Would say "shag" or even "fuck" but eeeeewwwww at "making love".

BitOfFun · 14/05/2009 13:26

lol @ "feral"

I can be feral, or I can be half-asleep, which probably gets misinterpreted as more romantic...

FrankMustard · 14/05/2009 13:30

lol at Keith Barron!!!
"making love" sounds so drippy and morally correct, whereas fucking or shagging is more frantic, lustful, spontaneous flinging limbs about and getting pleasantly surprised by the turn of events!!
Does anyone really put a label on it anyway? DH and I don't bother distinguishing between names for what we do!

PhilysFogg · 14/05/2009 13:45

both dishes are equally welcome at my table

MaDuggar · 14/05/2009 13:55

Frabk, cant say we do! thats why we just shag lol

Jux · 14/05/2009 14:03

I can't be fucked to make love

epithet · 14/05/2009 14:05

PMSL at Keith Barron!

'Making love' is such an unsexy phrase. If my partner said 'Make love to me, baby' during sex I think my fires might dampen down somewhat.

howtotellmum · 14/05/2009 14:44

I know plenty of people who differentiate between "making love " and screwing or fucking- and they all happen to be men.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/05/2009 14:45

I have sex

occasionally we 'shag' lightheartedly but it still sex

YanknCock · 14/05/2009 15:36

We 'have sexy time' (said in a Borat-type accent). It's good fun.

I'd wee myself laughing if DH ever said 'make love'.

AnyFucker · 14/05/2009 18:52

ewww, I hate making love

I can't stand the butterfly kisses and soft stroking

For Gods sake, just fuck me

purpleduck · 14/05/2009 19:00

Have sex
some lovin

um....
not make love though.
Loopy, the "hair stroking" thing made me laff

Housemum · 14/05/2009 19:03

Making lurrrve is too Barry White

We shag. Or fuck. Have sex. Or have a quickie. Never make lurrrve.

i quite liked the term they used in a episode of 'friends' once...,

bumping uglies!

Goober · 14/05/2009 19:31

Reality You read Is There Anybody Out There.
One of the bestest. When I grow up I want to be Marian Keyes.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 14/05/2009 19:35

Well, when all is said and done we are all just animals really so I guess I am in the 'discovery channel' camp.

Apparently Victoria Wood said that foreplay is like cooking burgers....3 mins either side. Rofl

However, I turn to female hormonal mush, incapable of functioning if 'teasing' is involved. And there is a 'look'....sigh,

I am also nearly single.

Perhaps that is why I am on most a few of these kinds of threads at the moment.
