What does your DH / DP do that shows you he loves you?

...other than want to get your knickers off - that's just lust y'know, although it's great when you've got it.

I was thinking about this the other day when I met a friend's new bloke. He couldn't take his eyes off her. DP has no problem taking his eyes off me, but he does still tell me I'm beautiful without being asked, so i think that counts!

emphasis on the new bloke, first throes of passion eh ?

welllll, my DH doesn't make that many actual gestures, I just kinda know IYKWIM

notamumyetbutoneday · 12/11/2008 15:55

It is a really silly thing but what makes me feel loved is that every time I am home later than my DH he always opens the garage door so I can just drive straight in rather than have to get out of the car to open it. He has done this for years, every time he gets home before me.

Tortington · 12/11/2008 15:57

i was ill - like really coghing up my arse ill last weekend, dh helped me off the settee - i was dressed in old faded towling robe i have had for years thread bare in places, and different colours of off white mixed thith pink - you get the picture.

and he said "cworr nice arse" i thought that was lovely of him....not exactly roses - but i looked and felt like shit.

MumToJaydenAndArmani · 12/11/2008 16:00

My DP runs me baths, makes me lots of cups of tea and tells me to come to bed early as he knows I feel crabby if I don't get enough sleep.

Mine does so many wonderful things but the one that touched me the most recently was he took me to my favourite restaurant for dinner on my birthday as a surprise. It seems like a small thing, but he's more your "grab a burger on the way to a movie" kind of guy and really doesn't "get" flashy restaurants or eating out. So to go to all that effort and then do it with good grace made me feel incredibly loved.

He's also just generally amazing and always tells me he loves me, makes endless cups of tea, massages my feet and did the washing up this morning before he went to work because I'm at home feeling sick and sorry for myself (washing up being a few mugs and glasses from post supper last night - so really could hvae stayed there but he wanted me to have a clean tidy environment).

MrsTitchmarsh · 12/11/2008 16:10

DP leaves me little notes saying he loves me inside my laptop leaves chocolate bars on my pillow, sends me cards, brings flowers, and tells me many many times a day. Not bad going after 11years, still very much lovey dovey together

eekamoose · 12/11/2008 16:10

Mine quite often produces an unexpected crunchie or bag of minstrels (no, that is not a euphamism) for me of an evening.

He gives me time out from the kids.

Sends me off to have hot baths when the kids have gone to bed.

Once a week,he makes the effort to make it just me and him sit down for dinner together with no distractions.

He's always telling me I am beautiful, even when I am in my tatty PJs.

Texts me from work to tell me he loves and misses me loads.

The first thing he does when he walks in through the door at night is give me a hug and a kiss, regardless of if he is in a bad mood.

One of his more recent 'gestures' was me coming home to a big bunch of lillies and a new watch with a note saying 'this is to make sure that our time together never runs out'

He constantly supports me regardless of if he agrees with me.

He makes me smile all the time. He makes me laugh and basically I just can't imagine life without him

AnAngelWithin · 12/11/2008 16:16

we are still lovely dovey after 11 years and 4 kids!

Custardo you're right - it's when you're appreciated at your most erm, unflattering moments that you know they love you.

I'm pleased to see that in a truly British way, the regular delivery of cups of tea seem important too - or coffee for you LLE.

It was the first day of that time of the month.

I was bloated and sore and really tired and asked dh to go and buy Nurofen for me.

He came back with Nurofen and my favourite chocolate.

He's lovely.

Squitten · 12/11/2008 17:15

He buys me flowers and chocolates on his way home from work and has even gone to the corner shop at night if I have a choc craving!

He rubs my back, legs and feet in the evening while we're lounging on the couch

He stayed up all night last Friday and did every feed so I could sleep

He tells me he loves me all the time

I really am very lucky

Joy27 · 12/11/2008 17:45

Lovely thread.

Two that spring to mind are:

He brings me a cup of tea every morning and gives me a cuddle while I rage against the dawning of a new day and having to wake up.

He has an unwavering, irrational belief that I am the most talented person in my corporation, the entire industry I work in, and maybe the world.

Anglepoise · 12/11/2008 17:45

swingsofglory I was chuckling at that too (the tea, not Custardo)

KatieScarlett2833 · 12/11/2008 17:50

He cooks me whatever I want to eat at weekends, including going to the shops for supplies if necessary.

I can demand tea/cups of coffee/chocolate at all times and he will happily make it for me.

He's fab.

stewart2000 · 12/11/2008 17:56

he tells me he loves me every day lots of time sometimes

tells me i am beautiful even when i am not lol

always makes me my cup of in the morning

minko · 12/11/2008 18:15

Mine keeps trying to poke his finger up my bum all the time and tells me it's affectionate (and he thinks it's hilarious). It's not, it's very irritating and a bit unsettling... Sorry to piss on the lurve parade.

mrsmaidamess · 12/11/2008 18:16

He makes me cups of tea even when he doesn't want one

He listens to me droaning on about work

He still thinks I'm hot to trot

swingsofglory · 12/11/2008 18:34

Yet more men handy with a kettle. This is heart-warming stuff!
