On Instagram if you type random letters into search such as “a” “b” can pages your friends follow come up that you have never clicked on?

I looked at my husbands and went mental as I seen three girls and he swears to me he’s never looked at their profile. Two I know for a fact his friends follow. They aren’t nude or anything, just influencer and other two are normal. I’ve got serious low self esteem and constantly seek reassurance from my husband of 10 years but he’s very depressed over my behaviour and was even crying saying it’s so sad I don’t trust him.

He has no interest in fashion or lifestyle. The women on for you were pretty influencers this is my issue. Not nice to think ur man is checking out other women

I’d be checking out lawyers if I was him! How has he put up with this for 10 years??!

Indeed, I say this as someone who has been cheated on by more than one partner.

I never check phones or do anything like this. That way madness lies. You have to take something on trust, and you can't automatically assume that everyone's going to cheat on you.

These aren't even provocative accounts she suspects him of looking at, just influencers and normal profiles. Shock horror i've looked at accounts of men that are just influencers doesn't mean anything.

moppety · 31/08/2026 19:06

Yeah that’s literally how Instagram works, OP. It shows you a mix of your friends, people your friends follow, just popular and trending accounts. If I put in A, the first hit is someone I don’t follow but is followed by several of my followers.

Get some help.

Missmos89 · 02/09/2026 10:32

Thank you
I’m getting help. I definitely have relationship ocd. Just seemed weird how an influencer was under an and then his for you page had loads, just seemed too much of a coincidence. I can’t remember if she was followed by his friends either and it’s bugging me, I think she was. He is absolutely adamant he hasn’t looked at her profile

Can I ask what you would do if he has been looking? You're getting yourself all worked up for what, would you leave him? Or tell a grown man he cannot look at lifestyle accounts on Insta? You sound obsessive OP, I would start by working on yourself, you're gonna drive yourself crazy and drive your husband away!

do you use Instagram alot ? As in click profiles search etc and watch reels ?

Who?
You haven't quoted anyone.

Missmos89 · 02/09/2026 13:54

No I don’t know what I’d do. He has no reason to look at Infleuncers though they are a female thing why on earth would he be interested. I really just need to trust him. Every other app and browser history is always clean so I dunno what’s wrong with me. I’ve got myself so worked up.

Yes he does have a reason to look. Because he’s a grown man and he can look at any influencer that he wants to. You’re not getting it. HE HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG. Whether he has looked or not - still done nothing wrong. It’s yourself that you need to work out, not him.

Why doesn't he, looking/watching a person of the opposite sex isn't forbidden/against the law. To instruct your partner not to do that is abusive, you honestly need to get help if that is your way of thinking.
He might like the content for many reasons, funny, informative or just doom scrolling... Your lucky he hasn't told you to f*ck off, because most people would have by now!

But you would be well within your rights to do so. You wouldn’t be doing anything wrong and so what if they’re glamorous, would it be okay if he glanced upon a (in your opinion) ugly influencer or is it just the pretty ones you’re trying to control him viewing?

Stop trying to catch him out doing nothing wrong, stopping banging on at him and making him apologise for nothing and get real help for yourself - you are being controlling and your behaviour to him is abusive.

If it was suggestive or naked photos that would be different I guess your right.

I inky checked a few of the “ a” b etc but in my mind I’m like what if there was worse ? I should have checked. He’s deleted Instagram now but I’ve told him to get it back

‘I should have checked’

Yeah, we’ve all been done on this one ‘cause that line alone shows us that you’re having us all on. And if you’re not, leave your husband so he can spend the rest of his days living in peace.

Because you’re bored, because you think it’s light entertainment.

you should not have checked anything. Because, for the love of god, He Has Not Done Anything Wrong.

You’ve been given advice. Mainly ‘get a grip’. But you’re still banging on about checking. If you are in fact, for real, then either stop being a total psycho or your husband is going to leave you and it will be your fault.

It's perfectly "normal" to watch reels and videos of people of the opposite sex, glamourous or not! Your husband isn't the problem, it's you!

So the poor sod has deleted Instagram because you won’t stop going on at him and accusing him and now he’s wrong again because you want him to download it again so you can replay the game?

Why are you even looking at his phone or Instagram? He is allowed total privacy and should be able to set up a phone password and keep every bit of his scrolling to himself. Just the same as conversations he has when he’s away from you, what he watches or reads when he’s away from you, who he looks at in the street or at work when he’s away from you. None of this is your business.

We can marry someone and expect fidelity and honesty but we don’t own that person and have NO RIGHT to interrogate them or check their phones.

Do you ever consider that your relationship would be so much better for both of you if you gave him some freedom? Don’t you think he would appreciate that and you’d see a stronger relationship and probably more affection? Maybe try it, even if it hurts you to do this at first and makes you want to go off on one. Don’t allow it. Do something for yourself when that happens, go out for a walk and let those feelings disappear. Remind yourself that he is a good man and he loves you (he must do or he wouldn’t still be with you). If he’s struggling with his mental health, he’s not going to give you all the affection and be thinking about you but you’re causing some of those mental health issues. Allow yourself to change and you will both be happier.

If it was me, I’d have him set a passcode on his phone and promise that you will not check his phone again and won’t ask about his viewing habits. It takes time for things to change and for a while, your body is going to want to know what’s happening but take yourself off and distract it. Do not break that promise. Let him have freedom and show him some love and affection. I’m sure you will receive a lot in return and you’ll see him becoming well again and feeling better.

And whatever has been said on here about searching for people on Instagram, please forget all that. Don’t go and dump all this on him when he’s home. It does not matter. It doesn’t make him a cheat or a bad man. He has stuck by you and loved you, he’s apologised when he didn’t need to (repeatedly by the sounds of it). Allow yourself to draw a line under it this afternoon and surprise him with a new wife. Both start again and lead the life you both deserve.

Post with updates but let them be positive now. People can help and support you.

he needs to run run away and not look back.

No one has any real reason to look at influencers though. So what if he does ? I can’t see anything wrong with it.
What do you mean you ‘told him to get his Instagram back’?
If your husband was posting this he’d be told to leave you , you’re controlling.

letsgoanonforthis · 03/09/2026 15:46

You sound like my ex and I'm very very glad he's an ex.

Living under the constant pressure of proving I was not doing the outlandish things he suggested I was doing, paranoia to the extreme, it's abusive and controlling.

Stop looking at his phone, stop making demands of him - such as your latest one telling him he needed to get his instagram account back - why, so you can harass him some more? Leave the poor guy alone.
