Really thinking of you today Banana. Definitely rise above & ignore any nonsense any of them throw your way. Hope your event goes well, despite idiots attending xx

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 15/07/2025 08:28

@bananabeau what gave your dh the right to invite his ex to your function?? as for access to your house and money, was this down to your "D" h??? think the cards are still on the table. wishing you the best of luck today against all the twats in your life!! please come back and let us know how you get on. I dont know how she behaves physically when she pushes her own buttons but if necessary, do not hesitate to call the police!! I wouldnt expect any of them to back you in the event of any untoward behaviour by his ex!!!

NovaF · 15/07/2025 08:29

Good luck with the event today 💐

bananabeau · 15/07/2025 08:30

She almost invited herself with the “I want to do it for the kids” spin and instead of having my back he was like amazing come along. And yeah my DH was the reason I had no money and couldn’t get in the house. All “accidental” of course

that is ridiculous!!!

Exactly she couldn’t “do it for the kids” mere weeks ago. It’s so stress inducing

mylittlekomododragon · 15/07/2025 08:34

I hope it goes well today, take no shit! Your husband sounds appalling.

MyDadWasAnArse · 15/07/2025 08:37

FighterPilotSwifts · 15/07/2025 00:49

You're definitely not as bad as her and absolutely have the right not to have to spend time with someone like that.

How do you want to respond to her if she starts on you? You can try not to react like pp said which may minimise the situation. Say something like I'm sorry you feel that way.

You've every right to explode at the whole lot of them but it may make things more difficult for you.

I suppose the healthy thing to do would be to assert your boundaries and tell her that you're not going to put up with her abusing you and walk away if necessary. This might be difficult when you don't have the support of the people around you and might be blamed

Have you had any more thoughts about leaving the relationship?

Don't explode, it's an excuse for them to call you crazy.

NettleTea · 15/07/2025 08:37

good luck for today

Wreckinball · 15/07/2025 08:41

OP good luck today. Deep breaths, focus on how you want it to turn out and try to have tunnel vision. I liked the idea of being the best hostess making sure everyone (else) is ok and mingling, you’ll feel so much support and get strength from that - it’s only a few hours

AnchorWHAT · 15/07/2025 08:43

Just keep chanting in your head, this too shall pass x

rainbowstardrops · 15/07/2025 08:45

Good luck today @bananabeau
Try and rise above if any of them try to destabilise you Flowers

diddl · 15/07/2025 08:49

Hope today goes as well as it can for you.

Every day that it get through is one closer to getting away.

Notrees · 15/07/2025 08:49

Good luck today bananabeau. Sorry your H is being a pillock.

Yellowpingu · 15/07/2025 08:50

Oh @bananabeau! Remember: chin up, tits out, onwards. Not just today but until you’re clear of the whole shitshow. Wishing you strength

Justkeepingplatesspinning · 15/07/2025 08:51

After your last post about him accidentally locking you out, and restricting your access to money, I hope that today ends up being your leaving do from him and that family of his. That's seriously low, shitty behaviour.

FairyPoppins · 15/07/2025 08:53

Wishing you luck for today.
From what you've said about name calling, access to money and your house it sounds like 'D'H is definitely trying to put you back in your box. He's worried, and can see that you have a new found strength. I'm sure you've realized this, and hopefully at some point in the near future you will in a position to start again and enjoy life.

FighterPilotSwifts · 15/07/2025 08:54

I am going through a difficult work thing at the moment where I feel very much ganged up on. It has helped me to keep reminding myself that I haven't done anything wrong! in fact it's become a bit of a mantra. Could you have something like this you remind yourself to stop yourself spiralling. Also remember that the so called family may not be behind you but all of us here are most definitely 100% behind you

Tana433 · 15/07/2025 08:55

Adding my voice to wish you strength today. Dont put up with any nonsense today @bananabeau, enough is enough. Good luck.

Randommother · 15/07/2025 08:57

I don’t know the background to this as I haven’t read the previous threads, but I wanted to offer some support.

You can do this
You are the better person

sure, today is going to feel uncomfortable, acknowledge those feelings, but get through it with a smile on your face and an air of calm confidence (even if you have to fake it)

if she tries to verbally attack to you, just shut her down with “I’m sorry, this is neither the time or place for this conversation” and walk away.

Chin up, tits out, smile!

Agreed. I hope you are managing to gather your resources and quietly, steadily, finding the means (and courage) to leave and make a new life for yourself - in your own good time, of course, but hopefully, for the sake of your sanity, sooner, rather than later. Good luck for later today, hold your head very high and rise above them all. You’ve got this, @bananabeau.

Rise above it ,you have got this xxx

yesIknowbut · 15/07/2025 09:20

@bananabeau We've all got your back even if that family don't.
I can't imagine how stressful this is, sometimes having no choice but to push on helps us get through.
Would "oh dear Beryl, still trying to make it all about you?" with a MN head tilt be appropriate?
Hand hold here x

Ambivilentbeing · 15/07/2025 09:27

I realise you’ve got an event today but wanted to say you mentioned your relationship has progressed to name calling. I wanted to say if you can to try to remove yourself when it gets to that as it’s the only way to protect yourself from him and also from any accusations about you from him when the time comes to divorce. Also because you don’t deserve it after all you’ve done for him and his family. Sending you all the best wishes in the world, you’re a survivor!!

julesover40 · 15/07/2025 09:39

Will be thinking of you today @bananabeau I have only just found this updated thread.
As PP advise, channel Princess Anne and hold your head high. Lots of deep breaths and hopefully keeping distracted with people who are actually at this event because they love you and want to support you.
