Curious - if you're married, do you celebrate valentines?

Just that really, do married couples celebrate valentines day? When dating my dh always bought a card and a small gift but since we got married, nothing. Its literally a normal day. I used to buy him something small but I've now given up.
Just wondering if it's just us.

We do but nothing OTT

My parents have been married 50 years and still give each other Valentine's cards. When I was married we always did a card and a small gift.

tinytemper66 · 16/02/2025 18:09

No but our wedding anniversary is this week so we celebrate that instead. It is a money making machine these days so never indulge.

What's he like for other things like birthdays and Christmas @Geordiebabe85

I loathe Valentines Day with a passion. I get a card and flowers for DP because it means something to her and it's the work of 5 minutes, but I'd happily not bother if she didn't care.

Maybe your partner is the same. If he's good at birthdays, Christmas then maybe he just doesn't see Valentines Day as anything but a cynical sales opportunity and doesn't realise it matters to you.

Yep, married 22 years, together 30. Had a lovely meal out on Thurs eve, take away on Fri, and little gifts and cards.

Ididntsaybanana · 16/02/2025 18:19

No, we never have. Our anniversary is quite close so we do something then.

mezlou84 · 16/02/2025 20:48

We do a little something. I got him a couple of bars of his favourite chocolate, he got me some chocolate. We went to the cinema. Married 16yrs soon to be 17yrs in May. Together 23yrs, 24 in November. We don't do alot as it's commercialised nonsense but we do a little something as a date night for that month.

GingerDoris · 16/02/2025 21:48

We normally buy a card and a silly little gift but this year we decided not to bother and we would just have a beer together in the evening as it was a Friday. He did buy me some flowers though. I bought a Valentines card weeks ago, but that was for the cat. 🤣 She's the only one that got a card in our house this year. x

Gardenbird123 · 16/02/2025 21:59

Yes, always have. 30 years married, 37 years together. We do cards, sometimes little gifts. This year I got some lovely tulips and some chocolates. We had a nice takeaway dinner and watched a chick flick.

flower858 · 16/02/2025 22:16

Nope, maybe a card but that's not happened for years. We don't even acknowledge it t 😆🙈

BruceLikesCake · 17/02/2025 00:49

No, we just celebrate our anniversary. 18 years together x

PruthePrune · 17/02/2025 01:05

No, never have done.

FrauPaige · 17/02/2025 02:48

Yes. Married 20 years. A gift, some chocolates, a kiss and a tight hug, tell each other we love each other. Why not take any opportunity you can to reaffirm your love for each other?

We do. Quietly. He bought me flowers and chocolates. I got him chocolates but he's never normally home for it as he works away. We ordered a takeaway and that's about it!

SwanOfThoseThings · 17/02/2025 07:42

In a low key way - cards and a posh-ish meal at home.
