Would tattoos put you off a guy?

Just this, really, and why or why not?

Absolutely. I dislike tattoos. I'm also of an age where most men's tattoos are faded, distorted and frankly look ridiculous

sanityisamyth · 13/10/2024 13:55

Yes. They look awful.

BobbyBiscuits · 13/10/2024 13:56

Not really. It feels they're more common than not. If the guy was covered in tattoos I'd assume they were mainly attracted to women who were similarly inked. So it would make me think we might not be suited.

I also might think they could be a bit of an attention seeker. Plus I'd have no interest in listening to the origins of them etc.

But most people aged around 25 to 60 do have probably one regrettable tattoo or piercing. I know I do!

Attelina · 13/10/2024 13:57

Yes. I hate tattoos. Ghastly things. I would divorce my husband if he got one as he would I.

caringcarer · 13/10/2024 13:58

Yes

AndThereSheGoes · 13/10/2024 13:59

TeabySea · 13/10/2024 13:51

No. I would be more interested in their personality.

I'd say "yes" for exactly the same reason.

Glitterbiscuits · 13/10/2024 14:00

Yes

I might be able to ignore one small one but I hate the way people are covered in them nowadays

EmmaEmEmz · 13/10/2024 14:00

No, the opposite.

I have ten tattoos and find them really attractive on men

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 13/10/2024 14:01

Yep, I really dislike the look of them. I can appreciate them as a well done piece of art, but I just don't find them attractive at all.

Luckily DP is a needle phone, so I've nothing to worry about there!

TwistedWonder · 13/10/2024 14:03

Good well done tattoos no it wouldn’t. Cheap looking crappy looking ones that look like a kid drawn then on with a crayon - absolutely would put me off

I went on a date with a man who took his jacket off and his arms were tattooed with the names of pretty much every player that had ever played for his football team - hideous

Cynic17 · 13/10/2024 14:03

Yes. Just the thought of them when he's old and wrinkly - yuck! Definitely not attractive.

Heddwch123 · 13/10/2024 14:04

Yes they’re hideous.

Rainrainngoaway · 13/10/2024 14:05

I always said no and i am still not a fan. My DP has a full sleeve and I don’t even notice it anymore, it’s just him. Neck, face and hand tattoos are deal breakers though for me

clarrylove · 13/10/2024 14:05

Yes, I'm not keen at all.

KirstenBlest · 13/10/2024 14:07

Yes.

smallsilvercloud · 13/10/2024 14:07

Yes in general I like men with tattoos, however names of exes, British bulldog or anything tacky noooo but some can look really good if the design is chosen well.

WeeOrcadian · 13/10/2024 14:08

Tattoos can be hot AF

Not below the wrist or above the neckline though

TheReturnOfFeathersMcGraw · 13/10/2024 14:09

My initial reaction is to say no a small discreet one would be ok, but I know so many people who have gone from that to full sleeves etc recently that I feel that's becoming more of the done thing. I know people who had a full conversation about deeply regretting earlier tattoos who still go on to get new ones done, and cannot see how the logic doesnt really add up, and that they could regret these new ones too, and then pay for a cover up, or laser, or live with that regret on their skin. For me, its madness.

TorroFerney · 13/10/2024 14:13

Clearinguptheclutter · 13/10/2024 13:25

Totally depends. Some small ones with nice designs (common on women, less so on men) - fine
arms covered- unlikely

I think they are generally becoming more socially acceptable though

That's interesting, I find that they are like catnip for middle aged men but the younger lads I see in the gym don't seem to have them as much. For me (and this probably relates to some of the rough areas I saw when growing up) I still see them as something scrotes have, probably because once of a day, you could only really have a lot of them if you weren't intending to work as they weren't as accepted. If people are arty then I can see the attraction but some fat middle aged bloke with his football team logo tattooed on his chunky calf no.

spiritgoat · 13/10/2024 14:14

Wouldn't put me off at all, I love tattoos and have loads myself.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 13/10/2024 14:14

Not at all, I love men with tattoos, especially full sleeves.

Sadly DH is yet to get his first one but DS already has 3 and seems to have the bug to get more so maybe this will push DH to crack on!

SabreIsMyFave · 13/10/2024 14:20

HelenInHeels · 13/10/2024 13:06

Just this, really, and why or why not?

No way would it put me off if a man has tattoos. (DH has none but that's OK too.)

The 'tattooes are common and chavvy' bollocks needs to stop. Stupid fucking comments really! Hmm Many people have tattooes now - especially under 35s. Are they all common chavs?

So rude and judgy. Just stop it. Some of the most intelligent and well-educated people I know have tattooes. And some of the least intelligent and badly educated people I know have none.

Grow up!

OtherS · 13/10/2024 14:22

Yes.

TheCultureHusks · 13/10/2024 14:24

Devilsmommy · 13/10/2024 13:37

Excellent point that quite a few on here should realise

Fair point but I thought the OP was more of a style question, do you find them attractive or actively not.

TheCultureHusks · 13/10/2024 14:27

But I maintain that they are just so everywhere that you can’t associate them with any class or outlook or even style really any more.
