Porn suddenly accessible on our broadband.

Before I accuse my DH, just looking for some knowledgeable advice.

Should porn content be automatically blocked on our home Wi-Fi broadband? We are with EE. Previously it did not show up, but just checked, and suddenly you can access porn again.

DH has had previously looked at porn and it has caused rows.

He’s enabled the adult content.

Oopsiedaisyy · 08/06/2023 10:50

I watch porn and never had to turn on a setting to do so? I'm with EE

ComeTheFuckOnBridgett · 08/06/2023 10:51

If it didn't show up before, someone husband changed the settings and enabled it.

Sorry , it’s Sky, NOT EE. (Changed provider last year)

Loking online, it has to be turned off by the account holder ☹️

Yep. Hanging on by a thread in this marriage.

Just know he will gaslight me over this, and say it wasn’t something he altered. Need to come at him with solid proof so he can’t. He just lies and minimizes all of it.

You don't need proof to things OP

SafferUpNorth · 08/06/2023 11:22

Log into the account. Disable the porn. Change the account password while you're there. See whether he dares to raise it. Good luck!

We have Sky and as we have children, the settings are on the highest 'block' setting. To change this, I need to log in and manually alter this.

So he has done it. Thanks, thought as much.

I know I don’t need to prove things, but after so long, where he has convincingly made me feel I am crazy, lied to my face and made me feel I am being unreasonable , hiding things etc, I just want to come at him with something he cannot refute. I want to force him to be honest for once.

One more thing, did your broadband come with that setting? Or did you have to change it because you have kids?

thanns

I changed to sky last week and I always had that stuff blocked as we have dc.

On setting up the sky box I logged in to check the settings for adult content and if it helps the default the modem came with was set at age 13 so with usual adult content blocked, but underneath that it was by default only blocking between the hours of 5.30am and 9pm. So I changed it to block all the time.

So yours may be the same? What time did you check if you could access, as if yours had the same default settings and you check usually during day and then checked this last time after 9pm that may be why.

I just checked now. So during daytime porn is accessible.

OP posts:
Bookworm20 · 08/06/2023 11:57

On mine during daytime it was inaccessible. Only accessible by default between 9pm and 5.30am. Which i changed soon as I got the modem working to be inaccessible 24 hours.

Are you saying he has changed your settings so its accessible during the day too?

Switch it the age 13 category and then tick the box to not allow the times to be set where it can be accessible.

And see if he changes it back.

There is also an allow list option on that page. so your settings may be on block but if he has added the url of a particular site to the allow list, that can be accessed at any time, even if your parental shield thing is on.

Usernameless16 · 08/06/2023 11:59

Well that’s strange. I went to check again, and suddenly I can’t access the porn. I’m really confused now.

He is at work, so don’t see how he could have found the time to alter it 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
Usernameless16 · 08/06/2023 12:08

And now it’s showing again. It seems to be able to show up intermittently. Like it’s going on / off

OP posts:
Bookworm20 · 08/06/2023 12:15

Same url you tried both times? I would imagine from what you describe that site is in an allowed list in the settings. Occasionally those in the allowed list can block intermintently if the end of the url differs sometimes (as in page 1, page 2 etc) Or may initially block then access on a refresh.

Can you access the account settings? You just log in online at sky.com

Yes, same url. Thanks for explaining it to me, I not very tech minded.

I don’t have the log in, as “D”h does the bills, but I will be asking for it when he is home so I can check.

Bookworm20 · 08/06/2023 12:21

You can also access the logs for your home wifi by accessing the modem settings.

There you can see attempts to access blocked sites in the security tab. If this is switched on in logs. If it isn't you can switch it on and then it will record that info.

To access the actual modem, for sky just go to http://192.168.0.1
login is 'admin' and the password if your wifi password.
