I need tech help. Does this look genuine?

Hi all,

So I'm in a panic and will try to keep it brief. Don't trust partner. He stayed at his dad's house a few week ago as he said he was getting bloods done that day.
Asked him today about his blood results (around 3/4 weeks after he had them taken) and he seemed confused and I had to remind him he had blood tests.
Anyway he sent the below screenshot proving the doctors have contacted him.

What I need to know is, does it look genuine? Could it be Photoshopped? Any clues?
My best friend has just said that the "contact icon" that is purple, should not have colour because the only time you get colour is if the number is saved in your contacts. The doctors number can't be saved as it's a number and not a name.
It's true for both of us that only saved contacts have colour for the contact icon.
Does anyone else get colour if the number isn't saved?

Before anyone says anything, I know if I need to turn this level detective then it's basically over but I need proof.

It doesnt proove anything
He could have been staying with anyone

primroseknows · 06/06/2023 21:36

It looks fake to me.

I work in primary care and our SMS will always as from 'NHS-no reply' not an 07 number at all.

OutDamnedSpot · 06/06/2023 21:37

Honestly, if it’s at the stage of the relationship where you are forensically examining texts, you don’t need ‘proof’, you just need to leave. This is no way to live.

jelly79 · 06/06/2023 21:37

I've just checked all my messages and there are no colours

But...you sound frantic and I'm so sad for you as you must be in an awful place to be looking at this level of detail. I hope you find a way to put your own headspace before this detective work. Sending love x

Turningintoaspy · 06/06/2023 21:38

Just to add that I get texts from my doctor's surgery and it's a mobile number. I've searched the number in his message and it's definitely from his gp surgery as there are many, many reviews stating this when you Google the number. I'm wondering though if it could be photoshopped

I also don't think you will be able to prove anything as surely different surgeries would have different formats for messaging etc

Plankingplanks · 06/06/2023 21:39

Your friend may be right. This is from mine. Short code numbers don't have the purple icon that my saved numbers do. They also have that banner at the bottom.

Mmhmmn · 06/06/2023 21:43

He sent you this as some sort of proof? Why do that? Does he know that you don't trust him?

Turningintoaspy · 06/06/2023 21:46

@Mmhmmn he's cheated before. I asked about his test results and he seemed to have forgotten. I then said if you weren't staying at your dads for the reasons you've started then be honest and stop wasting my time. He then sent the screenshot.

Turningintoaspy · 06/06/2023 21:46

@jelly79 do you mean no colours on any of the contact icons? Even save d ones?

OP posts:
UnexpectedDaisy · 06/06/2023 21:47

Have you reverse image searched?

Turningintoaspy · 06/06/2023 21:48

@Plankingplanks I have texts from my GP surgery and they don't have those banners below them like yours do. However I do only have colour on my contact icons for contacts in my phone. However, I'm trying to determine if this is just an interface thing

OP posts:
Turningintoaspy · 06/06/2023 21:49

@UnexpectedDaisy yes I have.
So the number is definitely his surgery. Which is why we were wondering if it's some sort of Photoshop?
I could just ask him to see the messages on his phone but will look a bit nuts I think!

jelly79 · 06/06/2023 21:50

Yeah lovely I have no colours on any of my messages, saved or not

jelly79 · 06/06/2023 21:50

Why did he need to stay at his dads for a bloods appointment though?

tribpot · 06/06/2023 21:51

This is an Android phone I assume, as the screenshot looks identical to the Messages app on my Pixel. People on different messaging apps and different types of phone may see different things.

I googled to see if there was any logic to how the Messages app assigns colours to contacts, I can't figure it out. I do, however, have some where the icon is purple even though the number isn't saved in my contacts.

I'm not sure I see the relationship between whether or not he had bloods taken and whether or not the surgery are trying to get hold of him - but surely if he stayed over at his dad's he had ample time to cheat, having blood taken takes like 10 mins tops.

Whattodo112222 · 06/06/2023 21:52

This is no way to live. You sound obsessed.

Seeline · 06/06/2023 21:53

This is mine - messages are sent from a mobile number that is different from the surgery number so isn't saved as a contact. All messages on my android phone are allocated a colour whether saved or not unless person has a photo in my saved contact.

Turningintoaspy · 06/06/2023 21:55

The reason I ask is because he stayed at his dad's as he used to live there and his GP surgery is still there (1 hour away). He booked his bloods for Thurs and stayed overnight and collected his son Fri to come to ours- all makes sense. I was trying to determine if he actually went there that night because he was having bloods or if he made it up, if so- it's definitely dodgy.

Just to add ., It was my friend who noticed all this. I'm clueless with how the message looks etc. And yes, it's no way to live. I'm a mess.

OP posts:
bloodywhitecat · 06/06/2023 21:56

My icons are a whole variety of colours unrelated to whether they are saved numbers or not. The short code ones from NHS log in are purple on my phone as are some unsaved numbers and some numbers that are saved to the phone.

OfficerPastiche · 06/06/2023 21:59

No marks on any of his arms?

friskybivalves · 06/06/2023 21:59

Could you find a subtle way to ask his dad? Say he thinks he left something when he was staying over? But tbh... It all sounds very hollow if you are clutching at these kind of straws and are so stressed. Is he really worth it? Hope you are ok.

Sux2buthen · 06/06/2023 22:00

You're going to end up hating yourself putting yourself through this Flowers I get it. There's a calmer life for you, this isn't worth it

tribpot · 06/06/2023 22:06

I can understand how him not having the blood tests would strongly suggest he was up to something, but him having the blood tests does not do the opposite. It doesn't rule it out. It sounds like he is a fairly skilful liar if you're going to these kinds of extremes? I wouldn't waste your time.

MidgeHardcastle · 06/06/2023 22:12

The messages are amateurish. Missing full stops and Thanks with a capital T. One says Hello and two say Good Morning (with a capital M).

You obviously don't trust him so it doesn't matter if he's lying or not. Time to call it a day.
