What do women actually find attractive about men?

Inspired by a a reverso thread, I want to know... what is it you like so much about the Hairy Ones?

When I was 9 years old, my teacher made me sit next to a boy called Jamie who was kind of naughty. He used to swap words in our hymns for other words that rhymed or otherwise fit. Sometimes it would make the song rude. Sometimes it would just mean he was singing his heart out to his dog instead of god.
It would make me giggle and I would think about him, even when I wasn't at school.

The day that I first heard Jamie belt out "to my dirty pants" instead of "to the elephants" in morning assembly, is the day I realised that I love the mischievous ones.

And yes, I married one. 🙊

I like the reversing thing! I always drooled at ex h when he did that.

EBearhug · 16/02/2022 18:45

Sorry to hear that, @PeeAche. That sort of news can be a shock, so I hope you're okay.

Cheekypeach · 16/02/2022 18:47

It’s interesting though, women decry the ‘blonde, pretty face, slim-but-curvy’ generic type that men go for, yet there’s clearly a disposition towards tall dark & handsome men on here.

OrlandointheWilderness · 16/02/2022 18:53

Oh god sexy reversing! What is it about someone you really fancy reversing in a capable manner!?!?

OrlandointheWilderness · 16/02/2022 18:54

My bf has to 'rescue' me the other day - I hit a deer in the car. He was v v manly and capable, came to pick me up and wrapped my up in the biggest hug. He took charge and it was so so lovely to let him. Very sexy!

@EBearhug I'm fine! Makes me feel old and mortal when people my age die. Poor chap.

I'm all about the sexy reversing. It makes my husband's upper arm bulge against his shirt.

I love the clothes my husband wears on holiday. He has certain things that only make an appearance when we go to Spain. It makes me weak at the knees when his dark blue shorts make an appearance. 😅

Can I also get a shout out for when they barbecue? Mouth watering in more ways than one!

The most attractive quality for me is the ability to have respect, whether that for me, his parents, or strangers.

My DP would never speak a bad word about anyone. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him insult anyone.

We’ve been around groups of friends where the lads will joke about certain things their girlfriends do that annoys them and although it’s lighthearted it’s still bitching right in front of their respective partner. He’s never done that, he’s never spoken down about me (ah least in my presence, I’m sure there’s been times when he’s had a moan!) but he’s always been respectful and never made me feel small in front of anyone.

It’s really refreshing to be with someone who makes you feel like a person and not like an object they drag along with them (you can tell I’ve had some real winners!)

MintJulia · 16/02/2022 19:02

Kindness, consideration, honesty, general good humour.

70kid · 16/02/2022 19:02

@OrlandointheWilderness

@TuscanApothecary
Glad I’m not the only one who finds the
reversing sexy 😂
I could sit and watch James Bond do that all day long in fact I don’t think I’ve ever watched a James Bond film where he doesn’t reverse a car in that way

rosesarebluey · 16/02/2022 19:05

I'm a sucker for a cheeky gorgeous smile.

TheGreatATuin · 16/02/2022 19:05

Thoughtfulness. That's the primary one.

@Soffit

Mau from Couples Therapy Series 1. Everything about him. I know that he is a lousy excuse for a human being but he is the only guy I have ever fancied off the tv!
Oh dear lord! He reminded me a lot of my ex. I have often comforted myself that nobody else would put up with him, but maybe you would?!

For me it’s mainly their smell and body hair Grin. I remember my mum saying her favourite thing about my dad was the hairy arm peeking out from the cuff of a white shirt! It seems I inherited her taste in men.

PorpoiseWithPurpose · 16/02/2022 22:11

Ambitious.
Hardworking.
A good sense of humour.
Kind.
Not afraid to show emotion.
Big arms.
A great kisser.

FoggySpecs · 16/02/2022 22:21

Cheekbones, ambition, brains, a certain degree of silliness and an ability to pronounce their consonants.

Soffit · 17/02/2022 11:44

RoyKentsChestHair - he is a once in a lifetime kind of guy.

Annie and Mau's dynamic closely resembles that of my parent's and my own father was a bit of a Mau so it is probably hard wired, Freudian stuff.

I get annoyed by the kind/thoughtful/good sense of humour stock combinations. I get a lot of 'offers' but I am not remotely interested in all of that. I would rather be celibate forever then try out normal

Milomonster · 17/02/2022 11:50

@FedUpOfLighteningCrotch that was really lovely to read about your partner.
I hope your lightening crotch has resolved Grin

boaroff · 17/02/2022 11:57

I also have a thing for cheekbones, I think, Foggy.

Taller than me by a few inches, athletic build (I'm fit and exercise obsessed so would need someone similar), fair - mid brown hair, no beard. Someone kind, not too introverted, with similar outlook.

Homewardboundtouk · 17/02/2022 11:59

For me, my husband is tall, broad and smart. We always have something to talk about. Also, he is my perfect match and we have loads in common. I know its cliche but he looks after me and makes me feel safe.

OnlyTheTitosaurusOfTheIceberg · 17/02/2022 14:06

Physically: tall, lean, good head of hair, nice forearms in rolled up sleeves, long fingers.

Otherwise: intelligent, similar sense of humour to me (bit sarky, enjoys wordplay), kind, inquisitive about the world, principled, politically engaged, competent/well thought of at their job. They don’t have to be ambitious or in a senior role, but I find quietly calm, controlled competence at what they do a real turn on for some reason.

OnlyTheTitosaurusOfTheIceberg · 17/02/2022 14:09

Oh, and an animal lover.

LimeSupper · 17/02/2022 14:19

I like masculine looking men. Tall, broad, muscles (but not too much), big hands, gruff voice, ideally blonde hair, bit of stubble and blue eyes. The perfect combination is a guy who looks tough but is also well-read, cultured and interesting. For me, they have to have that balance of being confident but not cocky or rude. Intelligent, driven and witty. I find all that verrry attractive.

LimeSupper · 17/02/2022 14:21

On the other hand, I’m not attracted to money, status or “bad boy” personalities and I can’t stand short, overly-emotional or needy men at all!

Bumpsadaisie · 17/02/2022 14:25

Forearms clad in shirt sleeves, a reasonable amount of chest hair just peeping out of their shirt, a twinkle in the eye, strong legs, muscle-y strong hands, good at practical stuff but also intelligent and seeking, good dad and GOOD hygiene and good aftershave/deodorant.

My DH has excellent hygiene and he wears Calvin Klein eternity deodorant. He only has to put it on before bed and even if I was a million miles away from wanting sex, bingo ... one sniff and I can't resist. I don't know what they put in it!
