I love the new series! I know lots of people don’t agree but I’m already addicted.
Anyway, is it just me who is completely over the moon for Miranda? Not even because she’s discovered her sexuality but because she’s been true to herself and sought out what makes her truly happy? Interested to know how others feel watching this.

I love it.

I love the scene of her in the laundry folding underwear. I remember when she first got with Steve she was telling Carrie how her favourite thing to do was to fold Steves laundry.

Some 20 years later i think its totally normal and not withint he realms of possibility that the things she once enjoyed have changed.

Miranda had it all - the great house, marriage, the baby. But what happens when those things stop being enough?

Her being a bumbling fool at college was ridicukous though - no way Miranda would have been that clumsy.

Fluffymule · 14/01/2022 11:55

@Dazedandconfused28

Miranda was a smart woman - who would never have made the bumbling faux pas she made when she started attending her course, I hate the way they have stereotyped older women like this. The queer storyline could have been handled so much better, considering she was chested on I don't think she would have acted this way, she was always so adamant in her principles.
I agree with this. I hated the first episode because of how Miranda was portrayed. It demeaned the intelligent, capable women she was to have her morph into a clueless, socially inept person around younger people and the black professor for example. Never mind the timid and ineffective way she interacted with her son.

I've stopped watching. The clumsy and insulting stereotypes they've played into for middle aged women is bad enough but it's lost that sharp sense of humour that I remember.

BiscuitLover3678 · 14/01/2022 11:57

Which Miranda? Miranda haart?

SlyAvocado · 14/01/2022 12:04

Honestly it’s like they packed them all up in a box for 15 years and reanimated them for the new show. Are we supposed to believe they’ve never had to confront using social media or wokeness terms before?!

Miranda not shutting off her vibrator and having an orgasm talking to her son through the door was really grim!

HaroldMeeker · 14/01/2022 12:04

She's not Miranda. She's Cynthia Nixon. Miranda has gone. That razor sharp wit and her honesty and compassion has been killed off, for some godawful reason, and replaced with a complete stranger. I hate the new series and wish I'd never watched the first episode. I watched the second and third hoping desperately it would get better......nope. Miranda as the current character is awful.

Yes x
Muthalucka · 14/01/2022 12:17

The only character they’ve improved is Carrie. The rest are all awful humans.

Urgh no she is as self centred as always
55Jumbo · 14/01/2022 12:26

I've only partially watched but in what I've seen Miranda has changed massively, and not for the better.

The cringeworthy bit where she was fangirling the comedian and calling them "a comedy prophet!!!!!" I just thought, nope, SHE used to be the wittiest one in it! Shame the old Miranda seems to have given way to the actress playing her.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 14/01/2022 12:30

I thought this was a thread about the BBC comedy Miranda, was so confused when someone said she went to Harvard XD

frogswimming · 14/01/2022 12:39

I've stopped watching because it's crap.

PhoboPhobia · 14/01/2022 12:48

I do agree with most comments apart from I am quite enjoying it as a stand alone thing and am trying not to think about what they used to be like.

I know that's probably odd - I do love Miranda's hair though!

Hen2018 · 14/01/2022 12:51

@Suzanne999

Who’s Miranda?
She was a character in Sex and the City, a series on when we were children.
Drunkpanda · 14/01/2022 13:04

Speak for yourself, Hen

Hen2018 · 14/01/2022 13:09

@Drunkpanda

Speak for yourself, Hen
Huh? I’m hardly likely to speak for anyone else!
CrimbleCrumble1 · 14/01/2022 13:10

I didn’t watch it before . I’m enjoying it as I am only a couple of years younger than the cast and think it’s good to have a series about women in their 50’s. I did think it was funny when they all got a new non white friend in one episode. The writers must have suddenly thought the cast needed a bit of diversity.
The clothes are amazing.

TossaCointoYerWitcha · 14/01/2022 13:53

@Hen2018 Was that the royal “we” then? Wink

Completely agree.

They (the writers) have absolutely shat on the everything the old Miranda was. This new person is nothing like SATC Miranda and I think if they met, SATC Miranda would be horrified.

I cannot stand this new series and I’ve stopped watching, it’s all utterly cringe inducing and completely inauthentic.

DinaofCloud9 · 14/01/2022 15:11

No i hate it. It's shit. She's acting so weak and pathetic and Miranda was never like that.

grapewine · 14/01/2022 15:18

They fucked up Miranda completely, and she and Samantha were the best thing about that show. Absolutely no reason to watch now.

coldfeetmama · 14/01/2022 16:19

Ohhhhh SATC Miranda ! 🤨

NutellaEllaElla · 14/01/2022 16:26

They've utterly ruined Miranda. She's an embarrassing sycophant and doesn't even resemble the Miranda from SATC. She used to be strong and powerful. Now she wears a really stupid grin when the least funny 'comedian' i on screen. Are the main characters written by people who hate women or something??

edgeware · 14/01/2022 16:34

I am enjoying the show generally but it pissed me off from the start how Miranda; who left Steve at the merest sniff that he cheated on her; is merrily cheating on him without a care in the world.

The whole enforced wokeness is fucking tiring as well.

Jenhen89 · 14/01/2022 16:40

@Rosewaterblossom

No way. Miranda went to Harvard and was a bullsy lawyer in a 1990s man's world making partner. She was the most realistic about life out of the 4 of them.

They've turned her into half the woman she was. No way would the Miranda in the series put up with her son and his girlfriend disrespecting the home like they do.. miranda put Madna in her place... many times.. when she thought her boundaries were being crossed.

It doesn't help that they have turned Steve, who 20 years ago was really "laddish", into someone who now seems about 70. He went from young, a bit nieve, loving "scooby doo" cartoons and shooting hoops just before their son was born, to old man with hearing aids who doesn't know how to satisfy the woman he's been with for years and years.

It's like they have started these characters from scratch and ignored all they were in the series..

This.

Well, yes. The new reboot series is called ‘And just like that’ and the character is called ‘Miranda’. Hardly cryptic.
