Why do guys send dick pics?!

emilyintheSE · 12/01/2022 22:00

On OLD... Just why?! I'm so not interested in seeing a photo of your penis!!

I'm not a prude, and I'm early 30s, so very much of the "dating app generation".

Surely men know this by now? It's been going on for years and I don't know any of my girl friends who have said "you know what, I love receiving a dick pic"

Or are me and my friends in the minority?

Thing is if that was their reasoning, surely they'd realise after being told to fuck off/blocked a few times it was not successful strategy!

And if they all had a few goes then realised reality not same as fantasy would stop.

Seems like way way too common for that to be happening!

Men just love their cocks and enjoy making women/girls react. In this case just sending it and knowing she didn't ask and will be FFS is exciting.

Just thought of some other things haha I'm violating sexual barriers here. Things remember off top head.

-lockdown zoom teaching think Singapore. Two men got on call masturbating. Have feeling girls school but not 100%
-hacking YouTube replacing a popular children channel with porn or similar

-big screen some town centre here hacked porn put on

-obv flashing

-drawing them everywhere just weird. Would love to know the psychology

CheeseMmmm · 13/01/2022 06:21

Interesting and agree with reasons they give. Some stats also.

From GQ obv men's mag so no chance seen as Feminist propaganda!

Excerpts-

'Science reveals dick pics are related to motivations of ego, arousal, fetishes, and a transaction mindset.'

'Men who have exhibitionist tendencies tend to be aroused by the prospect of women being coerced into seeing their genitals (really, fellas?). Other reasons include the sense of pride in knowing their penis is able to generate such strong reactions, fetishes regarding insults to the size or appearance of their genitals, and arousal to reactions of disgust.'

'men tend to overestimate women’s interest in receiving nude imagery based on their own receptivity in reversed roles. That means dick pics are basically them projecting their own desires on those to whom they send it to in the hope that their sexual desires will be reciprocated and they might just get sent a nude for their own viewing.'

Legislation to make cyberflashing illegal is in the pipeline ( Online Safety Bill). Unfortunately, sending unsolicited photos to adults is not yet illegal. There have been a few studies on why men do this. The problem is that people lie ,so the studies may not be reliable. The reasons given include thinking women will be aroused;wanting to find out if their penis is normal/attractive ( a variant on does my bum look big in this);thinking it will get them a girlfriend;because they find sexual gratification in sending them ; that they want to humiliate/upset women;and that it makes them feel powerful. In broad terms they are all looking for a reaction and if you don't want to gratify them don't react. A fair number of perverts have a humiliation fetish and would be thrilled by being sent a put-down response. If you're communicating via OLD site, the site could use AI to block or blur the photos. Why do we think they don't?

CrowFriend · 14/01/2022 16:58

Because my dick is magnificent!!! Come on - you only live once and I’ve just gotta show you it ….
But aren’t we lucky that they’re really just telling us ‘I’m a cock!’ We’re lucky that they are so up front about being complete and utter cocks.

Itsnotdeep · 14/01/2022 21:42

I assume it's not because they're proud of their dicks and think that the recipient will immediately want to shag them, but because it turns them on to force an unsolicited picture of their vile appendages to some unsuspecting woman.

I've never received one. Someone did once send me a picture of a cock though.

Libella · 14/01/2022 21:45

Um... how do can they prove that it's their dick?

I've never been sent a dick pic, btw.

nolongersurprised · 14/01/2022 22:24

I think men do it because they are hoping women will say ' oh my god, that's the most magnificent thing I've ever seen, I must service it now!!'

I think it’s mainly this as well. Men LOVE their penises, they are expecting the person receiving the pic to pant with lust when they see their magnificent appendage. I agree some are being sexually violent though.

A gay man I know who has dabbled in the online gay dating scene says not only are dick pics ubiquitous, some men will often send videos of previous sexual encounters, so that prospective partners can see them in action Grin.

CheeseMmmm · 14/01/2022 22:42

The bit I posted upthread felt more like the reason to me!

They know what they're doing. Men are not completely socially unaware! They read the news and it would be hard to avoid knowing what women think of it.

Gilda152 · 14/01/2022 22:51

I've never received one either but surely only men could take a stab at guessing or informing us why men do it.

If I had a penis I'd DEFINITELY be taking photos of it to see it from different angles, they're fascinating and weird! I wouldnt be sending it to anyone though

CheeseMmmm · 15/01/2022 03:15

Female genitals are surely similarly fascinating and I wouldn't say weird for men's or women's. But equally whatever things!

And tbh I can understand what you find fascinating or weird about dicks anyway! Interested what you see as fascinating, will you tell?

Plus...!

How many women snap their genitals looking at various bits etc because fascinated?!

How many send those pics unsolicited to blokes they barely know? (DON'T try this irl! Unless it's totally your thing!).

How many women and girls draw vulvas over everything?

It's blokes who are fascinated. With theirs (mostly) and if straight with ours as well!

ShippingNews · 15/01/2022 03:21

Because men love their dicks and they think women should love them too .

ShippingNews · 15/01/2022 03:22

Fascinating ? I'm a nurse, I've seen literally thousands of dicks in my career and I've never seen a "fascinating" one yet .
SirYawnsAlot · 15/01/2022 04:26

It might be a way of filtering likely candidates.
Example, a guy is chatting to 5 women on OLD. He gets tired of the small talk, getting to know you stuff and sends a dick pick to all 5 women. 4 block him but 1 reciprocates. He's in.
It's the grim equivalent of being asked by a stranger 'do you £uck?'

CheeseMmmm · 15/01/2022 04:32

Surely the likelihood of getting pic back from unsolicited dick pic isn't 1 in 5 goes, more like well. 1 in loads and loads!

CheeseMmmm · 15/01/2022 04:35

From what my friends told me.

Acting v interested, nice, saying whatever thinks she wants to hear. Lying through teeth. Is the usual (vile, manipulative, zero care that she's a person etc) way men who want a shag try to get one.

LavenderAskew · 15/01/2022 05:02

Never received one myself (not been in the dating game for a long time and hoping won't be back in it). But every time I read about dick pics I am a suprised there's not a website made for women to upload them and rated how funny they look or for comments made about them. It would be like a ID parade.

I mean there seems to be (according to reports) a lot of revenge porn put up by men and not a lot done about it, so why don't women do this. Wouldn't it be a deterrent, chancing thier dick being judged unfavourably?

Isn't the fear of men they'll be laughed at by women?

Though I've been reading this thread and I'm now wondering if there's enough men out there that would enjoy their penises being mocked so might be a motivation.

thenewduchessoflapland · 15/01/2022 05:19

It's not restricted to OLD;myself and other female friends have had unsolicited dick pics sent from random men we don't know on SM.

I don't know why men do it other than they are complete Neanderthal's.I've never heard of a woman sending unsolicited photos of her vagina to a man like this.

wildseas · 15/01/2022 05:34

If women on dating apps were regularly doing something which upset and violated men you’d bet that by now there would be a button where you could report. 3 reports and you’re kicked off. If all dating sites signed up to it you’d eliminate dick pics in a year....

CheeseMmmm · 15/01/2022 05:37

Article I posted earlier gives good overview! Was in GQ so men's mag.. And with research results!

Mostly it's same as flashers.

It's about power domination, a fantasy about women zero to do with real life. 'transactional' approach. Stuff like that.

Cherryfizzzz · 15/01/2022 06:10

It's gross isn't it. I had to block a man on my Facebook last summer because he sent me a picture of his dick for no obvious reason..

I think old and snapchat have made men think they have access to women like a catalogue. They have completely forgotten how to be gentlemen.

Inthesameboatatmo · 15/01/2022 06:13

I've had so many dick pics it's unreal. The worst by far though are when they send cum shot videos . Gross.

I received one, and for a while I didn't even realise it was a dick pic. He had a bit of a tummy and at first I thought he had sent a pic of himself covered in a pink blanket that was ruffled up. The bit that I thought was the corner of said blanket, was the penis. I did reply (before realizing the error of my ways) saying something about needing to find my glasses. 🤣. Only once I found the glasses did I see that I had sent the perfect reply without realizing it.

My friends and I had a good laugh about that one.

It so could be sent to this the ID parade website if there was one.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 15/01/2022 09:04

I don’t mind them in the right context
So when you fancy someone and your chatting and sexting and etc

But I think they get a kick out of it
Even the nice guys who aren’t sex offenders
I’ve realised men tend to be visual
Whereas words turn me on more
