DP Arrested - Trigger warning DV

WeyAyeMan · 31/12/2021 22:19

My dp well ex dp has been arrested and now charged with 5 counts of assault and 1 count of false imprisonment against me on Christmas Day, now remanded in custody till court on Tuesday. I'm a wreck and have severe trauma bonding to him. I'm missing him so much.

I'm around 7 weeks pregnant, home alone with our 8 month old baby and shaking in shock. Has anybody been through similar? The fear of unknown is making it worse.

They've denied his bail. Don't have any other information as to what happened or why. Just that it was denied

Great news. At least you know exactly where he is for a while and you are safe.

WeyAyeMan · 13/01/2022 14:42

Yes I would like to know the reasons why it was denied. Does that mean he's looking at some serious time? I don't know how it all works

@dane8 thank God some one is taking it seriously

Do you know what he was charged with, sentence will depend on that.
When it comes to sentencing they will minus whatever time he has already served on remand I think.

Glad he didn't get bail.
Hopefully you can get out of that area/house and stay no contact.

I would change your phone number at some point (not yet, wait until everything settled down).

OP! You have come so far! Take a breather for today. Hugs.

WeyAyeMan · 13/01/2022 16:48

Thank you @Moretodo

WeyAyeMan · 13/01/2022 17:37

How dare he what @Queenie6655 I'm confused?

Have been checking this thread for news and I'm so bloody relieved for you.

This denial of bail is an indication that despite the absolutely abysmal communication you've had from the authorities and the frankly dangerous advice from the sw who discussed making amends (?!) the powers that be in the CPS really ARE viewing this as serious enough he is a threat if released. Take heart in that.

Wish I could scoop you up and I'm not normally a soppy sod, something about this thread has really gotten through to me as you seem like such a lovely mum doing her best and I'm so angry for you that people have let you down Thanks

Aw @youvegottenminuteslynn thank you for such a lovely reply. I had a little cry but I think that's the relief and hormones that I have a bit more time and breathing space.

I checked the court hearing lists saw his name and how long he was in the court, 17 mins I think it was, and I just broke down.

I feel like my whole world is upside down and I don't have the strength to fix it 😢 thank you again for being so caring x

@dane8 wow thank you for sending me that. It's overwhelming. I wish someone could tell me what he's looking at, roughly. I know it's how long is a piece of string but the unknown and uncertainty does nothing for my anxiety

Queenie6655 · 13/01/2022 18:28

Sorry how dare he treat his partner this way

Infuriating and way too common

Queenie6655 · 13/01/2022 18:29

Op his first offence?

Very upsetting

I got a call from witness support last year to notify me my bastard ex had appeared in magistrates court that day

It shook me quite badly xxxxx

WeyAyeMan · 13/01/2022 18:35

Yes the 4 occasioning are section 47 @dane8

Yeah I drive, work have offered me to partially wfh also however I'm still on maternity leave and they don't know I'm pregnant again. Honest I haven't got the mental capacity to deal with that yet.

@Queenie6655 oh right sorry I'm still feeling pretty shit so was confused. I wish he hadn't done any of this, literally turned my whole life upside down.

OP posts:
WeyAyeMan · 13/01/2022 18:35

@Queenie6655

It's his first offence

OP posts:
youvegottenminuteslynn · 13/01/2022 18:47

I believe Section 47 means he could get anything from a fine to 5 years sentence for each assault resulting in ABH charge which I believe then run at the same time (concurrently), common assault can be a fine to 6 months sentence and false imprisonment can be a fine to life imprisonment, with harsher sentences depending on the position of power, abuse of power, deliberately targeting someone vulnerable and potential harm involved. The fact you are pregnant and a child witnessed the attacked would I imagine be aggravating factors a judge would take into account during sentencing.

I am not a lawyer and just have a very police heavy family, with a number working with victims of domestic violence specifically.

I hate that this can sometimes be down to which lawyer / judge / postcode an offence happens to have.

I've for everything crossed for you that justice is served and with the multiple ABH charges plus false imprisonment, it's enough to tip a judge into the more heavyweight end of sentencing.

Anything yet from WWIM or Womens Aid? Thanks

WeyAyeMan · 13/01/2022 19:48

Thank you @youvegottenminuteslynn
No nothing at all. Social services said that wwin are the ones who typically would safeguard the house, and they are the ones who have said they wouldn't install a panic alarm at this house. Which doesn't really matter now I suppose as I have a bit longer. I just haven't got the energy to chase these people at the moment with feeling so poorly 😢

Big hugs.

WeyAyeMan · 13/01/2022 20:32

@Bunce1 inconclusive so I've had to go and have another one today 😩
