Found condom wrapper in laundry basket

Just this. I have the contraceptive injection so haven't seen a condom in 17 years.

Have 12 yr old DD & 15yr old DS. Definitely not DS, pretty convinced not DD. We send laundry to a cleaning service. I'm thinking it's from that. DH doesn't really go out, hard to believe it's anything to do with him. Next steps if any?

OP posts:

I’d say it’s 99% either your DD or DS.

It doesn’t mean they’re having sex - they could have been given them at school and they’ve opened it to see what it looks like, one of their friends put it in as a joke etc.

I would talk to them about sex like consent and things but actually I’d be pleased that if they are having sex they’re sensible enough to use a condom.

It wouldn’t have come from the laundry service unless someone put it in there as a joke/to be spiteful which I highly doubt it as they would risk their business like that.

GrumpyLivesInMyHouseNow · 21/12/2021 11:24

If a condom wrapper came back from a laundry place I'd create merry hell with them

I'd say it's prob one of your dc.

JinglingHellsBells · 21/12/2021 11:27

Who fills the laundry basket?

I'd assume if it was your son or daughter, they have scooped it up off their bedroom floor along with their dirty clothes

PopsicleHustler · 21/12/2021 11:28

A pp said she would be pleased they're having sex at 12 and 15 because they're using condoms and are sensible. 12 is too young for sex. Get a grip.

Why start this thread then never return?

ilssagain · 21/12/2021 11:39

Another one of these mystery condom threads. There's at least one a week along with a mystery pair of knickers thread.

Why can't it be the 15 year old?

Why start this thread then never return?
Maybe she got lost in the laundry basket 🤣
GutsInMay · 21/12/2021 11:41

@Badnightguaranteed

Are you certain it was a condom wrapper and not the seasoning sachet from ramen noodles? I made this mistake lately Grin

Wife2b · 21/12/2021 11:42

For gods sake people saying check bins, gym bags etc. OP you don’t need to do anything, the likely cause is your teenage son who doesn’t need it broadcast to the world. He’s 15, a year away from the age of consent. He’s likely used it to masturbate/practice putting it on/water balloons. Chill and let it go, no detective work required.

smashingbaubles · 21/12/2021 11:55

@PoshPyjamas

Posh wank is a myth.
It really isn’t - just talked to my DH about it and he said that it’s definitely the son. He was 15 when he embarrassedly/secretly bought a condom from a toilet machine because he wanted to see how it worked properly and the used it for said purpose.
PoleFairy · 21/12/2021 12:06

It will he your DS. We live near a secondary school and a load of kids were walking past the other day blowing them up like balloons. Clearly had just handed them all out at sex ed or someones mum had given their son a pack because he had a gf or something and they all got shared around. Our road was littered in burst condoms

ilikeice · 21/12/2021 12:11

Seriously? It’s between a 12 year old girl or a 15 year old boy and you’re swaying towards the little girl!
Unless there’s a massive drip feed about your son, it’s a big red safeguarding flag for your little girl if she would have a condom.

speakout · 21/12/2021 12:12

I am still confused about the laundry cleaning service- was it the company who found the condom wrapper? Was it the moral warden at the laundry company who was obliged to file a report and escalate the incident?
Was it that laundry company who raised the alert as their procedures
dictate when they suspect client moral standards are in danger? Like finding a Greggs bag in the back pocket of a pair of moleskin slacks, a Lotto ticket in a Barbour or a an empty plastic pack of cheesestrings in a Chanel jacket?

Perhaps I am mistaken- can someone explain to me how the whole "sending laundry out" information impacts on this story?

Please enlighten me- I am quite working class , so ths is all unfamiliar territory to me.

I was just thinking the same thing - it is so weird when people do that, even if they return with "oh I was busy" why post if you are busy? Why not post when you have time to respond.. totally bizarre Confused

@PoshPyjamas

Posh wank is a myth.
It's definitely not
VanGoghsDog · 21/12/2021 12:18

@Spanielsarepainless

At 12, my neighbour's son was given a condom at school to put on a cucumber. Is it possible the wrapper has come from there?
From your neighbour's son's school?

Even less likely than the laundry service.

I want to know if it looked like it had been through a wash cycle!

Greensmoothie1 · 21/12/2021 12:21

Have 12 yr old DD & 15yr old DS. Definitely not DS, pretty convinced not DD.

Why do you suspect your prepubescent 12yo Dd, but not your almost legal 15yo Ds? I bet it’s your ds.

HoppingPavlova · 21/12/2021 12:21

Not much of a cleaning service if condom wrappers come back in the clean laundryHmm.

JinglingHellsBells · 21/12/2021 12:25

@speakout You are over-thinking it all :)

The relevance of the outsourcing the laundry is this (IMO).

Laundry goes out to the laundry in a bag (and is returned in one.)

I assume that the family all put their laundry into one bag (rather than having different laundry bags at home.

(We used to have a laundry basket for mine and DHs things and one each for the DCs.)

I am assuming again that the OP said it was for the laundry as she wanted us to understand this was a 'family laundry basket' , so she didn't know whose dirty washing the wrapper had been caught up in.

JinglingHellsBells · 21/12/2021 12:26

@HoppingPavlova

It didn't.

You clearly aren't posh enough to know how laundry services work. :)

The OP clearly means it was in the bag of dirty stuff to be collected.

girlmom21 · 21/12/2021 12:29

@JinglingHellsBells but then why would she mention the laundry service?

HoppingPavlova · 21/12/2021 12:33

Sorry, I do use them when working away (not at home where I am am doomed to do my own, plus no working away since Covid) so I understand how they work. I assumed it was in the bag that contained the clean stuff on return, but now I’m guessing this was wrong and it was in the bag the dirties in? Still confused though as I thought the question was did it come from within her household or the service plus why would she be going through the bag of dirties?

Why would you? It's a wrapper, not anthrax
DotBall · 21/12/2021 12:42

Lol def your DS.
We found one in the garden once. DS was about 14.
