Found condom wrapper in laundry basket

Just this. I have the contraceptive injection so haven't seen a condom in 17 years.

Have 12 yr old DD & 15yr old DS. Definitely not DS, pretty convinced not DD. We send laundry to a cleaning service. I'm thinking it's from that. DH doesn't really go out, hard to believe it's anything to do with him. Next steps if any?

I imagine it will be the 15 year old. They can get them free and even if not 'needed', it's something they will be curious about.
Why do you think it's more likely your younger DD?

ThanksIGotItInMorrisons · 21/12/2021 10:00

It’s your son....

AngelonTopoftheTree · 21/12/2021 10:05

I too am wondering why it's definitely not the 15yr old boy, and pretty sure it's not 12 Yr old girl???
Anyway, my money is on teenage boy (at the mother of 2 of them).

BiBabbles · 21/12/2021 10:14

Next step is either to talk to people or put it out of your mind.

It could be from the cleaning service though that's quite a goof.

It could be from your DH - plenty of people use condoms on sex toys as a way to lessen clean up or make lube easier to apply, him not going out doesn't affect that.

It could be the 15 year old for a range of reasons that doesn't mean he's sexually active. It's been common to give them out for a while (I remember my father losing his mind when he found the ones I had) and weird things happen to those.

The places I know that give them out usually don't for those under 13, that's a safeguarding issue.

inheritancetrack · 21/12/2021 10:31

Could be just something accidentally mixed in with your laundry if you use a laundry service? Maybe your DS is a more likely candidate

ChiefStockingStuffer · 21/12/2021 10:34

You have a laundry service? For everything? Is it expensive? Can I afford it? Shock

(misses point of thread entirely Wink

strawberrymilk7 · 21/12/2021 10:35

Has to be DS. It's just the wrapper so he could have been messing with it, I know me and my friends did. One even set one on fire, that was not a good idea!!! Also there is a chance he could be using them for their intended purpose

Calamitydrayne · 21/12/2021 10:37

I have found strange things in my washing after a service wash as sometimes things get stuck in the machines from previous customers. I've inherited several odd socks and a face flannel. A bit of a stretch but a condom wrapper from the pocket of a previous customers jeans probably wouldn't be the most unusual thing to come home from a laundrette, although I'm more inclined to go along with DS experimenting, it seems a bit of an odd place for an experimenting 15 year old to hide a condom wrapper. The laundry basket wouldn't usually be the first choice of hiding places.

NovemberNovemberDarkNights · 21/12/2021 10:38

@ElizabethG81

It'll be your DS.

I'm a bit Confused that you say it's "definitely not" him but are only "pretty convinced" it's not your 12 year old DD. He's a 15 year old boy, it's him.

A little think outside the box?

Maybe her DS has SEN & hasn't been out of her sight in the relevant time frame or wouldn't be able to get/buy condoms?

Personally I think it's most likely to be the laundry service. Left behind in the machine from a previous load & scooped up with the OP's washing.

After that DH. Unless DD goes to a very 'street wise' school it's really unlikely to be her.

Next move? Be aware of an unusual behaviour from DH.

Badnightguaranteed · 21/12/2021 10:42

Are you certain it was a condom wrapper and not the seasoning sachet from ramen noodles?
I made this mistake lately Grin

Palmfrond · 21/12/2021 10:43

I can confirm as a former 15 year old boy- if I had possession of a condom I’d almost immediately use it for a wank, or, if with friends, pull it over our heads, fill it with water, cigarette smoke, etc etc
Sure as hell none of us was using them together laid, but those were perhaps more innocent times.

chinabumps85 · 21/12/2021 10:43

That's what I thought😂
NovemberNovemberDarkNights · 21/12/2021 10:44

@Bellafrenum

If you aren't 100% sure that your 12 year old little girl has no need for condoms then your first port of call is some serious safeguarding of your young child.
Jesus, she doesn't mean her DD might have 'used' one, just that her & her friends might have been messing around with one. We used them as water bombs!! They use them in some sex ed classes. Easy enough to 'borrow' one of parents/siblings. Or cheap enough to buy out of a vending machine.
Palmfrond · 21/12/2021 10:44

*to get laid

(Freudian slip?)

Billyliarohdear · 21/12/2021 10:45

I also think the laundry basket would be a strange place for an experimental condom wrapper to end up therefore if it was your DS's I think it would have been hidden under the bed or in his room.
Same for your DD.
I'm sorry but I keep coming back to your dh as having something to do with this.
If he was having a secret sex session I'm sure he'd have got rid of the wrapper BUT could the other person have planted it in a pocket to cause chaos over Xmas?

Billyliarohdear · 21/12/2021 10:46

Or maybe I've read too many ThrillersGrin

muddyford · 21/12/2021 10:47

At 12, my neighbour's son was given a condom at school to put on a cucumber. Is it possible the wrapper has come from there?

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 21/12/2021 10:50

I too wonder why is is definitely not your 15 year old son?!

ImJustAsking · 21/12/2021 11:04

No it’s not from the laundry service sorry. It’s either your husbands or child’s.

IWantMoreStationery · 21/12/2021 11:04

@PoshPyjamas

Posh wank is a myth.
No it's not.
whysoserious123 · 21/12/2021 11:05
@whysoserious123 I would say its a myth in adult men! Fair enough teens thinking they're simulating real sex but the amount of fuss men make about wearing condoms IRL i highly doubt they use them for wanking.
I agree I'm saying it's the son

massiveblob · 21/12/2021 11:07

15yr old DS. But could be the DD messing about

Valaris · 21/12/2021 11:17

They give them out like sweets when the sex ed come to school. At 12, I'm pretty sure me and my friends had a stash and used then for water balloons. There was a trend on tik tok a while ago where you turned them into a stress ball. So not implausible it was DD.

JinglingHellsBells · 21/12/2021 11:18

Only very posh people use a laundry service.

So it must be the son Grin

speakout · 21/12/2021 11:18

I'm confused.
You say you send laundry to a cleaning service- is that significant?
Was the in the bottom of a basket of dirty clothes in your home, or in a basket of freshly laundered stuff delivered to yout home?
Does your OH work? yuou say he veve goes out.
If in with dirty clothes what else was in the pile? Ds's jeans or PJs? OH's trousers?
Have you spoken to your OH about this?
