The Rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. Know your worth.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Treat others as you'd like to be treated 12. Any relationship you have that could get ruined by having a conversation about your feelings, standards and/or expectations wasn't really stable enough to begin with 13. The things you choose to ignore/ tolerate now are the reasons you will break up in the future 14. OLD can get very time consuming. Keep doing other activities you enjoy.

Optional: Please give your irons (potential dates you are talking to) nicknames like Mr Scottish. Initials are allowed (Mr S) when you are an item

@Shayelle2009 thanks! I thought so too. I'm very much trying to keep my feelings in check with him but proving difficult at the moment given he's gone pretty quiet. I'm 'practicing the art of patience' at the moment.

@SortingItOut you raise a very good point with taking cycles into consideration. I'm far more emotional right before mine and have definitely had a more doom/gloom view on situations that haven't actually changed. It wasn't really obvious to me either as i've always had irregular cycles and don't take the pill either due to other medication i take. But having read your post it's put a few things in perspective. I love this thread!

@BelladiMamma any update? i have an image of you striding across fields in matching Hunter wellies and posh fitted tweed country coat with leather elbow patches! Hope you had a nice time. I've learned to trust my puglets instincts as she did not warm to MrE one bit, wouldn't even take a treat from him... now that is very tellling!!!!

FabulousMrFifty · 30/11/2021 15:13

@BelladiMamma.
Yes Dals will eat everything, had him back when I was married, I miss the dog more than my ExW.
I remember we were camping once and he (the dog), nicked a pack of sliced ham, trying to sleep in a tiny tent with a farting dog was a bit 🤮

I bought MrWG a keyring of half a 10p piece (old style) from our year of birth, and I have the other half. He has it on his keys.

Isitreallyme177 · 30/11/2021 15:43

All you guys with cute keyrings. I've got C3P0 and he is missing an arm.🤣

Shayelle2009 · 30/11/2021 15:45

Awww! I’m loving the keyring confessions. I’ve never shared a keyring with someone… maybe it’s a sign when you do! Soul mates forever!!

@Naimee87 my cat never liked my ex either. However she is complete slut around my dad. It’s embarrassing! Draping herself all over him like a purry scarf.

OP posts:
VanGoghsDog · 30/11/2021 15:55

I don't have the other half on my keyring though, I use it for something else.

I have another keyring story - with my ex, he and his son were always losing house keys which was annoying (as then they would take mine and I'd be trapped in the house!) and insecure.
So, I got some cut and got keyrings made so everyone knew whose key was which.
For ex I got his made with a photo of all three of us on one side, and his name on the other; dss I got a photo of him and his dad one side and his name the other; for mine - it was a photo of the logo of my favourite band one side and my name the other. Ex was like, er........ Lol!
I still use that one, I wouldn't if it had a photo of him on!

Naimee87 · 30/11/2021 15:56

@Shayelle2009 my puglets like that! she's all over my dad, so cute! My mum barely gets a look in really. She get's all her toys out for my dad like she's showing off!

SortingItOut · 30/11/2021 16:06

@Shayelle2009 I just looked up the stages of our cycles, it's very interesting.

@Naimee87 I track mine on an app called Clue and its been so helpful to understand my cycle.
My daughter started using it years ago and told me about it and now I know exactly where I am and why I always thought my period appeared so fast (duh, 23 day cycles do that🤦‍♀️)

Misty9 · 30/11/2021 16:06

Blimey you lot can chat! I've not got much to add really - was potentially having a date tonight with a guy who's been messaging me for a month...but surprise surprise he's now gone awol 😂 I mean, what is wrong with these people?! He's been really persistent as well. Bizarre. Other than that, a few ex-dates who won't work for one reason or another but still chatting. Well, sexting in some cases Blush Grin but hey ho. We're all adults!

Right. Covid jab time.

OnwardsEverStridingOnwards · 30/11/2021 16:17

I've got a couple of affirmation key rings that I brought from Not On The High Street ❤️

BelladiMamma · 30/11/2021 16:35

Eesha · 30/11/2021 16:47

Yay @BelladiMamma!

InABetterPlaceNow · 30/11/2021 16:53

Still catching up on all the chats! I mentioned a while back it's Mr Tux's bday coming up so I'm already having to do the present thing (or decide not to). I've settled on a little "survival" kit with some energy drinks and other things I've picked up he likes when he's doing his late night hobby Grin Low cost but shows I've been listening!

I went a little stir crazy and had to work through a lot of abandonment thoughts as he'd been a lot shorter with me since we met on Sat but realistically I know he's been busy with bday plans. He reached out with a proper text last night and we had a much better "talk". He knew I was doing an online version of the hobby he does actively, because it's something I used to do and he's resparked my interest in it and signed up to a group which met today through work (IT WAS SO MUCH FUN). He said he'd call me after so I can tell him properly how it went Grin unfortunately stuff came up on both ends and the call didn't manage to happen, he's going to a gig tonight and had to set off so said he'll try to touch base if he's back early enough to chat tonight.

Some other stuff going through my head but I'm going to try to figure it out before brain dumping. Starting to get used to the fact I need to work through my own anxieties first, then once they are calmed look at my own wants and needs to make sure they are actually being met. We'll see how long that lasts and I'll def need a sounding board when I get stuck!

InABetterPlaceNow · 30/11/2021 16:55

This is our most recent floofball!

(Side note, Mr Tux is allergic to cats Confused he has assured me it will be fine and there's only going to be a problem if he inhales one of them!!)

Silly question, but what does Loo stand for?

Fav that it's going well though!! Grin

VanGoghsDog · 30/11/2021 17:21

Loo is short for lavatory, or toilet.

illbeinthegarden · 30/11/2021 17:22

Quick question... after date 2 how much contact would you expect? No plans to catch up but have said we will... busy couple of weeks with work stuff etc.

I've realised it im quite needy tbh and feel no contact means they aren't interested anymore... last texted yesterday morning all good etc. I'd of liked a message by the end of tonight tbh and I don't always want to text first as makes me feel like I'm chasing. Like I need constant validation? Any tips for not feeling like that?

Also if we are sharing animals 😍 here's mine

InABetterPlaceNow · 30/11/2021 17:27

Ooooooh that makes sense!! Grin Thank you!
Eesha · 30/11/2021 17:30

@illbeinthegarden I think it really depends on what suits you rather than what's normal. I like regular chat and my current iron has messaged or called me every day since Friday (date 1). I would say I am needy and want contact and I make it clear regular communication is a must, at least every 2 days

Shayelle2009 · 30/11/2021 17:31

Yay @BelladiMamma!! Is he hot?? 🔥🔥

@SortingItOut the apps for it are amazing aren’t they? I use one called Flo, honestly ladies use it it’s great, free too I never knew about my cycle until I used this!! Tells you which days you're at your most fertile and everything, and when you ovulate snd it hurts a bit, tells you when that’s happening! So useful.
