How long was your engagement?

...before you were married?

We are now at three years.

We've had to cancel twice due to Covid and now registrars are almost impossible to book, especially as we're limited with dates (I work in education).

6 months.

6 months. Got engaged last January and we married exactly 6 months later.

2.5 years

3 months (and no, I wasn’t pregnant!)

10 months

Engaged in November, booked the date in July, married in September.

It was a small wedding and I’m not into too much fan fare so it was fine. Of course if you were having 150+ people in a popular location you’d need more time just to get an available date, but that wasn’t our situation.

@OhSayWhat Ours was always going to be very small and low-key too. The problem now is finding an available registrar (bloody Covid again!)

Also 3 months, and I wasn't pregnant either. We had a registry office wedding in London for 25 guests, followed by a meal in a lovely restaurant, and all down the pub after. It was fab. It will be our 25th anniversary later this year. I do think it must be a nightmare planning a wedding in these Covidy times!

About 9 or 10 years, no rush for us, we bought a house, had a child, got the big things done then had a very chilled out wedding.

6 months, but we also needed to marry for immigration reasons. We had planned when the wedding would be before we were formally engaged, so very much focused on the marriage bit from the start. Personally, I wouldn’t care about the wedding. Mine was nice, but not something I would have delayed indefinitely just for the sake of being able to have it. It’s just a big party. The marriage is what actually matters though.

A year dating, a year engaged.

Just over 5 months.

2 years as I was pregnant at the time and wanted to lose baby weight before getting married

1 year.

15month engagement as he proposed in May (we’d been together 5.5 months) and we wanted a summer wedding - in that year I graduated university, we did long distance for 4 months then spent 6months volunteering abroad and came back 6 weeks before the wedding

Engaged January 2017 married August 2018. Been together officially since October 2008.
No pregnancy or anything. I was off living my life, going to uni sorting my head out, getting the career that I wanted. Now almost 3 years later we have a beautiful little boy and on the verge of buying our house.

6 months.

Would have probably been closer to a year but we suddenly had the opportunity to emigrate somewhere that we had always wanted to go, so we hurried everything up to get it done before we moved.

Never got engaged, didn't really understand why we would when actually we just wanted to get married. So we eloped...after only being together a few weeks!
