Where did all the good men go in the UK?

I am asking this for a friend - really!

I hear over and over now from my single friends over 30 that there is a massive shortfall in good quality men in the UK?

Do MN users and readers agree? What are your own experiences? Many happily married women on here I'm sure, so what's your view?

One thing I do notice myself - but don't necessarily share with my single friends (I like them) - is that a lot of them seem to have long lists of "must-have/must-be" points for a guy to be up to standard for them?

"Anybody who thinks it means "rich" needs to buy a dictionary."

I'm talking about how it's used in dating sites, in the old lonely hearts, etc. When a man describes himself as solvent in that kind of context, it doesn't mean debt free.
Washington says she doesn't agree that women are looking for men who own their own homes, well, I've seen it come up many times here and I have a friend who won't go out with a mean who doesn't own a home.

So it seems the only thing proven is that many people use the word ‘solvent ‘ with entirely different meanings. It probably not a sensible thing to do to ‘ assume ‘ what women mean Gwenhwyfar, I’ll give you , the twenty or so women I currently know who are happily dating men who don’t own their own homes , the hundred or so I know who married men who didn’t, to the one woman you know who only dates men who own their own home.

I have LITERALLY never met one woman with this criteria . It’s a big claim for you to make . Do you have evidence that most women require this , not ‘ I know a woman, or I’ve seen it written ‘ do you have data or stats about women requiring male home ownership in dating ?
