Entering a relationship when my partner can’t handle me having kids

Hello everyone, longs story short I parted with my wife over a year ago and I have two young kids aged 4 and 9. I have met someone else who’s never been married or had kids as she said she never met the right person she wanted a family with. We’ve been seeing each other for 5 months now and speak every day but she lives 160 miles from me so we don’t get to spend much time together. She says she’s never felt this way about anyone before and she would like to start a family with me. We have arranged that I will move down to where she lives in Cornwall and will see my kids as often as I can which would hopefully be for two weekends a month. The issue is that because I have been married and have kids she feels that we couldn’t do any of that because I’ve done it before, she doesn’t know if she can have kids because of reproductive health problems either. She wants to see past it and have a life with me but she can’t get over my kids. I’ve suggested seeing a specialist and as I’ve said that me having kids won’t encroach on our lives together as I will be away from her when I see them. It just seems like there’s no moving past this and I don’t know what else to suggest

How about not moving hundreds of miles away from your children to be someone who ‘can’t see past’ the fact of your kids? It’s shocking you’re reassuring her your children won’t encroach on your relationship when they should be your number one priority.

What the fuck have I just read!

KurtWilde · 19/05/2021 21:20

And it's still not been pulled 🤣

The embodiment of what women hate in men all wrapped up in a single post.

Lovely.
You can't be helped.

StarryNight13 · 19/05/2021 21:35

It looks like the OP has disappeared 👀

Lozzerbmc · 19/05/2021 21:39

Yep OP has gone. Either a complete selfish idiot of a man or a wind up. I hope the latter, I’d hate to think of children having someone like that as a parent.

@Stormchaser500
Fucking hell, so breezily bold as brass.
Shall I just dump these kids and piss off into the sunset.
Have you no shame?

His real name is Fannychaser.

Grow up! Those kids need their dad what they don't need is a step mum who clearly will resent them.
Even worse then this they will know you accepted this and out this woman first.

Plenty of kids do have dads like that; they’re referred to as ‘deadbeat dads’ and we read about a lot of them on Mumsnet threads.

She should know what she's getting involved with dating somebody who allready has got children, if she's never dated anyone with children before then be prepared for it not to work out long term.

When I read a post like this on MN I'm always surprised by the posters who are surprised, if you know what I mean.

I suppose my default belief is that men don't really care that much about their children. Like, they love knowing that they have procreated and passed their genes on, but they don't want the work of parenting, and if they end up not having a relationship with their adult children then - oh, well. Not really a source of sadness.

My late husband was a single dad when I met him, but looking back I wonder if he'd fought for residence purely for spite. He certainly wasn't a good parent once you saw behind the curtain.

Obvious bait is obvious. Poor effort, must do better.

Stop thinking with your dick.

Good God. Putting this woman you barely know and any hypothetical children ahead of the children that already exist. I've heard it all ...

It all sounds like an excuse to bugger off and have the single life to me.
