Why are so many men total jackasses?

I have been a member of this board for a month, joining to get some insight on an issue with a friend, but have been drawn into discussions about men, dating, OLD, etc. I had a jackass moment myself last year with a guy and I have read similar stories. The OLD ones are one thing, but what about those women in relationships with complete tossers who abuse them verbally and physically and cheat and are selfish?

What makes them like this? Will our princes ever come?

I think this forum is very skewed in that people post mainly about relationship issues. In saying that, I do hear you. I know quite a few women in loveless and unhealthy relationships that stay for the kids or fear of being alone. I value my life too much to ever live like that.

I've had a similar experience of OLD and men in general. Sadly, there are many women who are married or in LTRs who are unhappy nor in love and stay out of convenience.

This being said, the longer I've been single and have had greater opportunity to foster a range of different relationships, the more I realise the enormity of twattishness there is out there from both sexes. In this time I have come across a woman who is complete psycho, a desperately arrogant and sanctimonious one, one who power trips and patronises like a man's mansplanning Tory or a stonewalling lefty, lack of basic integrity and self awareness evident.

A lot of people are jackasses and half the population are men = a lot of posts about male jackasses on a predominantly female forum.

I think this theory is correct. One of DS's friends approaches all women with the same "chat up" line - ""Do you want a fuck ?" When I told him that this was horrible and a bad way to speak to anyone, his answer was " some girls say yes, so the percentages work for me " !

I have only ever received one dick pic and I'd been speaking to him for a while. In fact the same guy tried to start the sex talk the very day we matched but I ended up putting him back in his box and he apologised. But men and women both have sexual thoughts and needs, I suppose there's something to be said for sharing them honestly. And the argument for it being about knowing the time and place can be tricky- Is it that easy to know when the right time and place is? Mind reading is a skill few possess.

I see it as a modern day version of flashing, the flasher does it because he enjoys the shock/intimidation factor but flashers were rare compared to dick pic senders.
I think this is because potential flashers (aka men who would enjoy exposing themselves) were put off by the risks and downsides of doing it in real life, but give them a chance to expose themselves with little cost and they gleefully rush in like a naked mole rat up a drainpipe
