Don’t mention the jasmine!

Can’t believe I’m onto my third thread.

Previous one here

Been packing the car to go to the tip. It’s rammed! Cat has been out for the first time and thankfully returned.

Greatly enjoyed my walks this weekend. Got an 8 miler in yesterday but the best part was coming back, lighting the fire and getting into a hot bath. Had a zoom with friends last night, touch too much red wine, but it was so much fun.

You’re all right re the petition. It doesn’t matter, he’s just jackbooting. Someone asked what I’d put in, sorry but I’m not comfortable sharing that at present, been advised to keep it to myself whilst it’s ongoing.

Geller is, however, incredulous that I’m not willing to carry on sharing Amazon Prime and Music Unlimited.

The weighted blankets have arrived so I’m just about to go sort out the laundry and the girls run. Been enjoying Radio 2’s musical weekend, but I can’t understand how Steve Wright is still on.

Tip run, then they come back. Roast chicken with bread sauce and roast gnocchi and board games this afternoon in front of the fire I think. Sounds like he’s been running them ragged, lots of walks etc which is good as means I don’t need to!

How’s everyone else spending their Sunday?

I think as part of your divorce, you should get a Masher Order.

justilou1 · 10/03/2021 12:18

I think Polly should get to mash HIS spuds! (Figuratively speaking, obvs...)

DartmoorDoughnut · 10/03/2021 13:25

@justilou1 that made me snigger Grin

TheTeaCosyofDoom · 10/03/2021 14:29

Kudos to you, from a long-time lurker. Flowers

Any further mashergate problems, suggest you text him this image. I haven't peeled, boiled, or mashed a spud in years.

Don’t mention the jasmine!

I too am a convert since

a) getting a dog (marvellous at clearing it up prior to washing up/dishwasher

b) discovering frozen mash

Marvellous.

FelicityPike · 10/03/2021 22:30

Or a packet of Smash (🤢)

Loving your work, pointy !
StuckInPollyannaMode · 11/03/2021 02:22

Brilliant @pointythings! Also like the Aunt Bessies suggestion

My god, this wind. It’s woken me up. To discover BOTH girls in bed with me.

It’s absolutely terrifying, sounds like it’s going to take the roof off. Thumping and walloping against the side of the house. I enjoy a good storm but this is bonkers.

The Sarah Everard murder is horrendous, that poor girl. My heart goes out to her and her family. All she wanted to do was get home.

Morning! I've also been laid awake for hours with the bloody wind!!
It scared our dog who is on my legs unfortunately she's a 45 kg Newfoundland and I'm pinned down ...... I need a wee.

Poor sarah am still struggling to process the police arrest. I hope the family are getting lots of support.

swampytiggaa · 11/03/2021 09:04

I’ve been following your posts for ages just wanted to jump in and say you are amazing and your girls will appreciate that in the longrun. They always play up where they feel most secure in my experience 😊

Anyway as you seem to be the go to person for sorting shit that isn’t your business (😂😂) my cooker has broken. If you could just organise a new one and fitting it for me I’d be very grateful 💐

I can send you my masher for geller... I’ve never liked it had to buy it in a rush when my eldest lost my lovely one.

timeisnotaline · 11/03/2021 09:29

If you can’t fix swampys cooker today Could you please just send details of your 3 closest friends so swampy can try them?

justilou1 · 11/03/2021 09:30

@swampytiggaa... can highly recommend the Oxxo one. Short, but very well/ balanced!

Thank you! @StuckInPollyannaMode if you could just sort me one of those too please 👍

Mix56 · 11/03/2021 12:14

My hot water heater has water running out of the bottom, could you just send over your besties to lift it out of the lean -to ? Its outdoors so they can stop banging on about covid, & they can come now, as I'm waiting....

Newestname001 · 11/03/2021 12:19

Goodness I love this thread... 💛🦋

PopAyetheSailorMam · 11/03/2021 13:44

Charity shop ultimate treasure is a Skyline potato masher, the sort your Grandmother had on a wee hook rack with spoon, slotted spoon, fishslice etc. I laugh in the face of modern gadgetry that doesn’t have form or function.

mbosnz · 11/03/2021 14:12

I am currently perusing potato mashers on Amazon.

pointythings · 11/03/2021 14:48

I've got one of those ricer style ones that looks like a giant garlic crusher. It makes the best mash. Also if I ever get attacked in the kitchen, I can brain someone with it.

I have one of these - it was my grannie's!

Only thing is though some idiot put it in the dishwasher and now the paint flakes off the handle and into the spuds if I use it Sad

PopAyetheSailorMam · 11/03/2021 16:16

@WeatherwaxLives : sandpaper paint edges, rinse and use. You could look for local wood turner to make a new bamboo handle which is dishwasher friendly. Evaluate, adapt, overcome. Have issued ‘masher order’ against myself @StuckInPollyannaMode < zips lips motion >

StuckInPollyannaMode · 11/03/2021 18:34

Right you lot.

Cooker for @swampytiggaa - on its way, went for an Aga and put it on your credit card. Got myself some new pans from Le Creuset at the same time.

@Mix56 gang alerted and they’re on their way. In return you’re having their kids for Easter weekend. All 7 of them. Ply them with gin and you may be able to get them to reverse this demand, but, I warn you, they’re thirsty.

I used to have a ricer. Couldn’t get on with it. @WeatherwaxLives try looking on Etsy for someone to make you one.

@Fooshufflewickjbannanapants have you been for a wee yet?

DD1 had a massive EPIC meltdown in Sainsbugs tonight. That was nice. Judgement in waves. But I stuck to my guns. We’ve had a nice cuddle and she’s come out of it now but oh. My. God. The checkout staff were so lovely.

Contemplating a gin but I fear it might send me over the edge when I’ve yet to do bath time.

WeatherwaxLives · 11/03/2021 18:35

@PopAyetheSailorMam it's properly had it. I keep meaning to sand it down completely and repaint. Then hide it from DP. Inspired by this thread I shall tell him to use a fork!

swampytiggaa · 11/03/2021 18:40

@StuckInPollyannaMode not sure an aga will fit. Could you get your friends to pop round and move the kitchen cupboards for me? Thanks 😉

Checkout staff are generally lovely 😊 glad of a change in routine as much as anything I think!

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 11/03/2021 18:44

Managed several wees but I'm running out of loo roll so could you sort that for me please?

Molly499 · 11/03/2021 18:52

The ultimate potato masher is a plug in one from Lakeland, it changed my life, sad but true!
