Can’t believe I’m onto my third thread.

Previous one here

Been packing the car to go to the tip. It’s rammed! Cat has been out for the first time and thankfully returned.

Greatly enjoyed my walks this weekend. Got an 8 miler in yesterday but the best part was coming back, lighting the fire and getting into a hot bath. Had a zoom with friends last night, touch too much red wine, but it was so much fun.

You’re all right re the petition. It doesn’t matter, he’s just jackbooting. Someone asked what I’d put in, sorry but I’m not comfortable sharing that at present, been advised to keep it to myself whilst it’s ongoing.

Geller is, however, incredulous that I’m not willing to carry on sharing Amazon Prime and Music Unlimited.

The weighted blankets have arrived so I’m just about to go sort out the laundry and the girls run. Been enjoying Radio 2’s musical weekend, but I can’t understand how Steve Wright is still on.

Tip run, then they come back. Roast chicken with bread sauce and roast gnocchi and board games this afternoon in front of the fire I think. Sounds like he’s been running them ragged, lots of walks etc which is good as means I don’t need to!

How’s everyone else spending their Sunday?

Whole sentence !

NettleTea · 31/01/2021 17:48

so sorry @RandomMess about your beautiful cat xxx

You sound so much stronger on this thread already Polly. Im hoping that now you are away from him it will turn into a summary of his ridiculous behaviour that you simply laugh at, as you increasingly find distance and self from being free of him

Catmaiden · 31/01/2021 18:04

Humour at his stupidity will definitely help you! Once I escaped from my first husband, I found a calm, almost amused/bemused attitude at his frankly bonkers pronouncements got me through his worst stuff.

I did a lot of "really?" and "oh well" comments, along with a half smile and a raised eyebrow. Helped by never being alone with him once I escaped from his control (he was a violent, abusive rapist, so I had good reasons to make sure I only ever met him with a third party present)

And a LOT of ignoring.

Catmaiden · 31/01/2021 18:05

And @RandomMess, so sorry about your Mum, and your lovely Cat Flowers Hugs xxx

Catmaiden · 31/01/2021 18:07

@StuckInPollyannaMode

Skoda estate owner here, there is a button on the drivers door and/or centre console that can enable/disable door locks and fuel flap.

StuckInPollyannaMode · 31/01/2021 19:04

Plenty of tips to try in the morning - thank you for the links and the ideas! I’ll let you know if any of them work.

I’ve had a chat with the friends mum and she was fine about it all. The suggestion that she won’t want to be copied is a good one, thank you whoever made that.

They’ve basically either whined, whinged or eaten since they got home. Barely come near me and normally they are snuggly little bunnies. Leaving them to it and not pushing it.

Not sure about stronger @NettleTea - but it sure is the first time I’ve stood up to him like that @RandomMess - glad to hear you got away @Catmaiden

My afternoon hasn’t quite gone as planned. The kids have basically been glued to Netflix. DD2 barely ate anything of her dinner, is full of attitude, and is now eating peanut butter on rice cakes.

I’m having a nice glass of white and watching Dancing on Ice. The JOY I get out of watching programmes he dislikes is amazing

I’m also getting worrying addicted to Say Yes to the Dress.

Doing a mini health challenge with a friend of mine next week. 5 days of no snacking, lots of water, no booze and some form of exercise every day.

OP posts:
RandomMess · 31/01/2021 19:10

I LOVE say ye

Sunbird24 · 31/01/2021 19:13

I am also addicted to every version of Say Yes. There are worse things!

RandomMess · 31/01/2021 19:14

Oops I ❤️ say yes to the dress - it's the dynamics of the entourage has me ShockShockShockShockShock

Actually you may find their behaviour is awful after every Gellar visit for a while to come. After all they've had to fit into his mould for them and it must be horrid and oppressive and they have probably been picked at for ridiculous things.

I guess build in decompression time for them after each one.

I would also avoid too much with him about their behaviour because it's likely to be different between the 2 houses and somehow he will expect you to fix it ALL and never alter his own behaviour.

You could suggest that you both do an on line parenting course, not that you need it!

sapnupuas · 31/01/2021 19:23

Oooh. Can I join you on the mini health challenge?

StuckInPollyannaMode · 31/01/2021 19:28

Ha! I’ve done three parenting courses, all linked to DDs issues.

He, of course, has always been too busy to do a single one.

Completely separate note. Any recommendations of where to get cheap Lego sets from? It costs a fortune but the girls are both suddenly into it. Starting to think about half term and what we can do when it’s wet and horrid. Tie die also on the list, I think they’ll really enjoy it.

OP posts:
StuckInPollyannaMode · 31/01/2021 19:30

Please do @sapnupuas - and anyone else that wants to - the more the merrier! I’m weighing myself in the morning and quite happy to reveal on Saturday morning how much I’ve lost / gained 🤣

I’d say it will be a shock what I see on the scales tomorrow but I have a sneaking feeling just how horrid it will be. Literally nothing fits.

Anyway, that’s the least of my problems right now!

OP posts:
RandomMess · 31/01/2021 19:31

I would start suggesting at every opportune moment that he needs to make the time to do those specific courses in order to parent DD better!

Any complaints about her or him not coping - "well if only you would make doing the course a priority" grey rock style.

Lego I would look 2nd hand on eBay for local ones. You can get non-Lego now much cheaper.

frazzledasarock · 31/01/2021 19:42

Lego Facebook selling pages is also a good place to find them.

Would your girls be into French knitting if you showed them how? My two really got into it when I introduced them to it and knitted all their friends friendship bracelets. For a while it knitting and crocheting became a big thing at their school because of them😆

Sunbird24 · 31/01/2021 19:54

Also home-made salt dough, marbling, and of course baking!

Raindancer411 · 31/01/2021 20:11

I know the feeling of no clothes fitting 😭 I have really bad will power since having the kids!! Plus if I see the DH eating, I then want something. Told him not to eat snacks in front of me and tomorrow is smoked haddock and sweet potatoes mash and mange tout.

Mix56 · 31/01/2021 20:20

Yes marbling ! makes a mess though.. unless doing it in a giant washing up bowl.

Re your dry week, I've been having a massive diet Shweppes with ice & lemon at that crucial hour of the evening !!!

DartmoorDoughnut · 31/01/2021 20:24

Lego galore on Facebook marketplace and eBay.

I’m so jealous of you having full remote control, DH isn’t a dick well most of the time but bloody hell he only likes quiz stuff or historical stuff and I want to watch mindless rubbish thank you very much!! I am working my way through a packet of matchmakers and waiting for him to fall asleep so I can man the remote Grin

harknesswitch · 31/01/2021 20:51

Say yes to the dress is my guilty pleasure

RandomMess · 31/01/2021 20:55

I'm going to watch Married at 1st Sight Aus at some point. Car crash TV.

Watched Real Housewives of Jersey this month as 2 of my friends do, it's hilariously scripted.

DartmoorDoughnut · 31/01/2021 20:59

I have gained control of the remote and am settling in to watch The Great

RandomMess · 31/01/2021 21:02

We will be watching the Alice one in a few minutes, bit disappointed in it seems a bit silly/tongue in cheek

Ariela · 31/01/2021 23:57

Ask on FB re the Lego - I shifted a ton of stuff and all our Hama beads , boxes of books, school books etc to various people that pop up and ask on selling pages locally.

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 01/02/2021 00:05

Married at First Sight Oz is the BIZ @RandomMess.

Sorry to hear about your cat Flowers

Jesskir89 · 01/02/2021 01:04

Hi op, just been having a nosey at your threads trying to get my 10 month old to sleep and I like how caring everyone is and got to know each other:) just a quick one though I'm confused about your DD age, not that it matters but on one thread you said they're 6 and 8 and on another they're twins and they're 7 or have I missed something...@randommess so sorry for your losses Flowers
