He spends all free time with his ex

My boyfriend spends all weekend with his ex , they eat dinner every night together , they have a two year old. They do stuff together eg walks. Am I unreasonable to not like this. He justifys it as time spent with his child. Why doesn’t he see his child without her?

They aren’t ex - but you knew that.

whlp · 14/11/2020 22:28

Well he says she has a bf and she knows about me. I’ve met his family and friends.

QueenOfPain · 14/11/2020 22:28

I don’t think he’s your boyfriend. I think you’re the side piece. Might be time for a big portion of self respect.

whlp · 14/11/2020 22:31

They don’t live together and I stay at his and he stays at mine

He can’t handle looking after his daughter on his own, then.

Run for the hills

TwylaSands · 14/11/2020 22:33

Finds it easier because she still does the parenting?

Throw this one back.

TwylaSands · 14/11/2020 22:34

Ha cross post!

Harsh. But - Sometimes I feel like a side piece.

Get rid

Mamagotskills · 14/11/2020 22:37

Nah... no thanks

AnneLovesGilbert · 14/11/2020 22:38

How long have you been together? They’re either still together or he can’t be arsed parenting his child by himself. Neither inspires much optimism.

Find someone less complicated.

Well I’m fairly certain he’s made it clear to her but I don’t think she is giving up and by him being with her all the time is facilitating this. He said he doesn’t care if she gets wrong impression or if I don’t like it. Either way he will carry on if it means he sees his daughter hassle free.

Embarassing.

IceFrost · 14/11/2020 22:40

So basically he doesn’t respect you or give a fuck about you.... just leave him.

whlp · 14/11/2020 22:40

Very supportive comment thanks

What a charmer. How’s your self esteem OP? What’s the point of him in your life?

whlp · 14/11/2020 22:42

I don’t know anymore.

The occasional time (eg special occasions etc) fine, but every spare minute is not ok. You need to explain to him how it makes you feel, and if he refuses to move, I would be inclined to rethink the relationship. Co-parenting is great and positive for the child, but there need to be boundaries for all the parties, including the child. How confusing for him or her to not know whether mummy and daddy are actually together or not (not so much now at 2, but when they're older). I don't you're being unreasonable at all.

I’ve tried to say how upsetting it is and he just said it’s not changing

I don’t want to be the bad person because he says it’s time with his child

I would never want to stop his relationship with his child

Pepe aren't being blunt to erode your self esteem and make you feel "even more shit" OP. They're telling you straight as his attitude really isn't on.
