This really annoys me!!! I was married to my ex for 24 years and his new wife is furious that I've kept my married surname. I kept it so that I had the same name as our children, plus it's what I've been known as for half my life !

Ex and I despise each other and do not talk but this has been put in a lawyers letter.

Did you feel pressured to change your name after divorce ?

@MacduffsMuff

I am the new Mrs X. I don't think I could have resisted responding 'For now ...' and leaving it at that. Grin
And you have to do it in the style of Dolores Umbridge Grin

@Amberskies2020 go on change your name, but only change your first name.

Your choices are: New Mrs' first name or new Mrs' daughter's name/affair partner's first name!

I think that should do it! 😆

Actually, OP, could you respond to the solicitor's letter, acknowledge receipt and give them the opportunity, without prejudice, to set out their case further? I wonder if you could appear in good faith to enable several exchanges. It would be unfortunate if each letter cost the happy couple a few hundred pounds?

If you receive any letters addressed to your maiden name, I would be tempted to send them back marked 'Not known at this address' Grin
