What time do you go to bed?
What time do you get up?

About 6 measly hours a night.

I am constantly exhausted. I go to bed around 10-10:30 and try to switch off. Sometimes if I’m still awake around midnight I ask DH to come to bed to cuddle me to sleep. He’s then asleep within 10 minutes! My alarm goes off at 6:15.

Last night I was awake when he got in bed at 11:30 & he promptly fell asleep, I was awake a while longer and I was then awake at 5:50am.

AvoidingRealHumans · 11/07/2020 21:25

I need at least 8 hours. I usually go to sleep around 11pm and get up at 7.15am.
I lay in on the weekends, usually until 8.30- still go to bed around 11.

Sally2791 · 11/07/2020 21:25

7-8 hours . Not quite enough .

Ughmaybenot · 11/07/2020 21:28

About 8/9 hours?
I tend to be in bed by 10, asleep by 10:30/11, alarm goes off at 7.
I go through weird phases of waking up at 5 which can be annoying.
In all honesty tho, it’s never enough. I have chronic fatigue (amongst other things) so I’m fighting a losing battle!

KettlesReady · 11/07/2020 21:28

Go to sleep at 11/11.30pm most nights, but have the occasional tired night when I go to sleep at 10.30pm.

Up whenever my youngest wakes me, anytime between 6am and 7am. Sometimes DH will get up with him, but I'm still up before 7.30am even on those days.

So 6 or 7 hours a night. I naturally need 7 I think but have adjusted to a bit less since having kids.

rvby · 11/07/2020 21:30

23:00 to 07:00 is typical. Eight hours give or take a little every so often.

In my family of origin, sleep was prioritized above work and socializing, so to me its bizarre that so many people get by on less sleep than is needed. But it seems very common for folk to sleep 4-6 hours a night as a matter of course. I worked with a woman who had two full time jobs and slept 4 hours night, she would boast about how much money she made... she would regularly make horrendous errors at work, crash her car, have various accidents at home, come to blows with her teen dds, etc and it was crushingly obvious that her lack of sleep was the root cause of much of it.. so weird.

wildone84 · 11/07/2020 21:33

8-9 hrs. I need about 9.

RandomMess · 11/07/2020 21:35

5-7 hours, usually broken sleep. I have insomnia issues it can be far, far worse than that!

WinterAndRoughWeather · 11/07/2020 21:35

Not enough. I need 8 hours, am a night owl, usually get 6, but with a lot of wakefulness throughout the night and often end up sleeping until about 9am as frustratingly I seem to sleep better from about 5 or 6am onwards. It’s maddening. I have a CBT workbook that I’m trying to use to help, but it’s not easy. Every so often I take sleeping pills for a week or two to try to catch up.

PenelopePitstop49 · 11/07/2020 21:38

I need at least 6 hours in one stretch else I'm vile. And every so often, I'll be asleep for around 10 hours if I need it.

I'm in the grandkids bed in the spare room to get this - DH has got a horrific sleep pattern and I'm liable to kill him if we share a room.

ChangeOfName2020 · 11/07/2020 21:40

It's a running joke in my family how much sleep I get.

I'm usually in bed by 20:30 most nights, sometimes even earlier. I either read, or catch up with things online.
Lights out and sleep is around 22:00-22:30 and I wake at 07:45.

I just love my sleep, which is well needed when juggling life as a single parent and working full time.

When I'm child free I go to bed much later, but only because I have the luxury of getting up later. Sleep wise the hours probably work out about the same, if not more. My record is 16hrs Grin

Crystalspider · 11/07/2020 21:41

At least 8 hours but I would happily sleep 10 hours and take another 2 getting out of bed

saltycat · 11/07/2020 21:41

Thankfully I'm a great sleeper. But that has a lot to do with a HUGE bed and a very early retirement, and no kids.

Each to their own. We are all different.

Icanflyhigh · 11/07/2020 21:46

Usually in bed by midnight, butnoftens still awake at 2am and alarm goes off at 7am.
No wonder I'm fucking shattered.

SoulofanAggron · 11/07/2020 21:48

2am - to about 10.30 Grin

weepingwillow22 · 11/07/2020 21:50

According to my fitbit 6.5 hours. Would love 8 hours but have an 8 month old who still feeds at night and a 9 year old with asd who is up at 4.30am!

dancemom · 11/07/2020 21:50

Usually about 11-6 although sometimes it's nearer midnight.
If I'm not working I can sometimes get back to sleep until 8am.
I could nap every day easily too but don't often get the chance.

GameSetMatch · 11/07/2020 21:52

Usually in bed around 10 I get to sleep about 11.15 after a read or whatever then wake at 7.44 on the dot by my eldest son!

Livebythecoast · 11/07/2020 21:52

About 8 hrs. Work full time so week days in bed about 9.30-10, up at 5.30am. Weekends in bed by 11 and awake about 7. Can't seem to lay in as I've got older... 16 yr old DD on the other hand...I swear she's asleep more than she is awake 😴

SimonJT · 11/07/2020 22:02

5/6 hours according to my fitbit, my boyfriend gets at the very least eight and virtually nothing wakes him, it really isn’t fair.

Doggybiccys · 12/07/2020 00:22

This thread is depressing me! I get anything between 1 and 3 hours a night! People don’t believe me but it’s true. The longest I’ve slept in about 10 years is 8 hours when I was really sick. Have tried everything you can imagine but nothing has helped. Well the only thing I haven’t tried is cannabis oil which someone said I should try after a convo about insomnia with colleagues. I’m trying to lose weight and I keep seeing on diet sites “make sure you get at least 8 hours sleep a night” and I’m like “ but how”!!! Insomnia is a total curse

ilikemethewayiam · 12/07/2020 00:31

Between 4 & 6 hours if I’m lucky. I feel so tired all the time but the minute I get into bed my mind is racing and I can’t go over, I wish I could switch my brain off at night 🙄

Flamingnora123 · 12/07/2020 00:43

4-6 with wake ups in between. I can feel it slowly killing me and I've aged horribly in the past 3 or 4 years.

IdblowJonSnow · 12/07/2020 00:48

6 - 7 hours. Not enough. Been a crap sleeper all my life.
Wake to go to the loo and can't go back to sleep. I often have crazy dreams about needing a wee all night and wake up feeling like I've not slept.
Agree its very ageing.

IdblowJonSnow · 12/07/2020 00:48

I've slept for 20 hours before in my youth. Bliss!
