We had a ONS just before lockdown and have been chatting since. He added me on FB today.

What a disappointment GrinGrin

Yea that’s massively cringe.

CrystallineHamster · 15/06/2020 10:20

My favourite ones are when people post stuff like:

‘The devil whispers ‘you can’t withstand the storm’’

I reply back: ‘I am the storm’’

Haha. You can tell the person is trying to look all deep and tough and it’s just hilarious.

catinb0oots · 15/06/2020 10:51

@judetheobscure what???

That was just one I lifted from months back. Cor presumption much. He's still very keen I promise you 🤣🤣🤣🤣

There's a bit of a cult on Facebook at the moment with these quotes. I had a friend who started doing it - turns out she was posting for engagement and getting ready to "sell" something and had been suckered in by some group.

NameChangeNugget · 15/06/2020 11:01

These wanky inspirational quotes top trump any redeeming features anyone may have.

Straight red card!

Aerial2020 · 15/06/2020 11:02

The reason I find them fake is usually people that most them ALL the time (not just the odd occasion) are the opposite of the quote they are using.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 16/06/2020 08:20

Keep riding your bicycle towards the hills @catinb0oots !!! 😳

@florence1960 Think we've found the "Live Laugh Love" poster

dontgobaconmyheart · 16/06/2020 13:47

I wonder if he's still be as keen on you if he knew you were ripping him to shreds on the internet with other people, OP. Seems you're probably not what he wanted you to be either? I doubt anyone on here would be keen to date a guy who was making fun of their private social media (and them) online.

I actually agree re: the quotes and would bin off as it isn't my thing at all and highlights an incompatibility but in trying to be performatively funny you've just made yourself look ageist.

No harm no foul though with the ONS. You've got to know him a bit better and found something out you don't like, happens, that's the point of getting to know someone- to find out if they're actually suitable.

baileys6904 · 16/06/2020 13:51

What a nasty, bitchy post. So he likes quotes and you don't. Who cares. Don't see him again. Simple as, although if your as willing to let something like that affect your relationship, it can't have been that much of a meeting of minds.

What happened to the #bekind movement every fucker was on to a few months ago? Why do you have to tear the bloke down for what he decides to post on his own social media. If a woman came on here saying that her fella was trying to tell her what to post, or slagging it off, he'd be rightly ripped into.

Anyway, scroll past, block him, whatever.

WhotheWhat · 16/06/2020 13:52

I once bought a flat with the sort of trite tosh all over the place. I was tempted to keep it and add "... perchance to SHIT" or similar on the bog door. In swirly font, natch.

catinb0oots · 16/06/2020 13:58

Hardly tearing him down rewriting on an anonymous forum Hmm

Are we not even allowed a laugh on here anymore? Have you ever read the penetration man thread?? Smile

Straight block I think.
No second chance for this one 😃

At the expense of others, I'd prefer not, but maybes that's just me :)
pinktaxi · 16/06/2020 14:07

To an original thinker it seems, and clearly bored mindless by Covid.

I'd just ignore and wait until normal life resumes and see how you feel about him then.

pinktaxi · 16/06/2020 14:07

Not....

NoMoreDickheads · 16/06/2020 14:09

Lol. Usually such people are thick as a brick, aren't they? If he seems to have a brain, there's even less excuse for this shit.

Have you ever read the penetration man thread??

Ooh, no I haven't, link me please. Grin

formerbabe · 16/06/2020 14:17

My favourite is the deep and meaningful quotes where the grammar is incorrect.

"Your a queen" for example

FromMarch2020 · 16/06/2020 14:31

I have a couple of friends that share these 'inspirational' quotes most days.... I think they are bored and have no idea what to say so share anything and everything.

What's the rest of his FB like?

Does he post a picture of every cup of tea he drinks/every walk/everything he does.... now those type of people scary - you really need to run the other way very fast indeed.

FromMarch2020 · 16/06/2020 14:34

Can you link to the penetration man thread .... I need a giggle

TerrorWig · 16/06/2020 14:35

My husband reposts minion quotes so count yourself lucky lol! I was already too far in before he displayed this - it’s too late for me but not for you! Grin

Cherryberrypie · 16/06/2020 14:37

Thank god for this thread!!! I can not stand those inspirational quotes and I thought I was the only one, I now see there are more people like me who cringe reading this tripe.

Op, for your own sanity, get rid, that’s all I can say.

FromMarch2020 · 16/06/2020 14:37

"ThinkPinkStink Sun 14-Jun-20 22:41:38
If you dump him he'll only respond with "If you don't love me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best"
:-) "

So funny... thanks for the giggle

saraclara · 16/06/2020 14:46

I'm not called Jackie, but I am in my 60s. Ageist comments make me seethe, but I thought OP second post was hilarious!

(though the naff quote posters I know are all in their 30s)

Washinginthetimeofcovid · 16/06/2020 15:02

So naff.

I know someone who posts this kind of shit. Always about mental health but it's just so disingenuous.

He lost a job because he slagged off his company product on twitter. So thick.

He hasn't got a new job yet and I'm convinced potential employers check this kind of stuff (he has very open social media accounts)
