@Notthewife he's chosen to self isolate with his wife and family, he's made he clearly would rather be with her and have "brief" shags with you. This has already proved you're just a person that's only worth limited time.

Barbies97 · 26/03/2020 20:17

Btw @Notthewife I'm not a cheated wife!

Ronnie27 · 26/03/2020 20:21

I don’t think it’s going to stop anyone tbf. Especially if they’re keyworkers or self employed.

cantata · 26/03/2020 21:14

A bit different, but I have "three beautiful teenagers" with whom I am spending too far much time at the moment. I don't live with my partner. However, I'm still seeing him and shagging him because no virus is going to stop me. We are all fit and healthy, and none of us is in an 'at risk' category (if any of us were, it might be different). So I rather doubt that it would stop anyone cheating if they are in a similar situation.

dontgobaconmyheart · 26/03/2020 22:15

I doubt it will stop them OP, there are quite a few ways to keep it going. The reminder that absence (and thoughts of the end of the world) make the heart grow fonder probably will make it less funny...

I think using the word “chosen” is a bit optimistic here.

Most people having an affair would choose to self isolate with their affair partner. Not their spouse, Let’s face it. Given a straight choice with no complexity involved.

Self isolating with their spouse is going to be more about logistics, complexity, kids, finances and many other things, but it’s very unlikely going to be simply about a simple preference.

If they preferred the wife or husband they wouldn’t be having an affair in the first place. No way round that unpalatable fact. I think you can almost always guarantee that when it comes to affairs, they prefer their affair partner to their spouse at that point in time.

@Rosiejim, You made a good point, very funny in a light-hearted, dark humor, bitter kind of way. Not every cheated-on spouse will find the humor in this and it will be a trigger for some, but I'm glad you've found a bright spot in all the shit.

Keep laughing! 😘

Patch23042 · 26/03/2020 22:41

If you’ve a mind to cheat, you’re not going to care about spreading covid-19, let’s face it.

beenwhereyouare · 26/03/2020 22:48

I should have added that this reminds me of when my parents divorced. The day after the ink was dry, on my birthday, my father married the OW. They went skiing on their honeymoon. She broke her leg the first day and was in a cast to her waist for the next nine months. We (the left-behind family) laughed and laughed. Still funny 45 years later!😂

And before anyone says the OW wasn't at fault, just my father, be aware that she told me, a 13-year-old, that he would never have cheated on my mother if she had just given him blow jobs. She said "I know how to satisfy a man." and smiled to herself.

So yeah, we laughed and laughed after her accident. Punished them both! 😂😂😂

pallisers · 26/03/2020 23:21

I am not concerned that this will come between us.

I think this is fair enough. It is far more likely his wife and children will come between you or any of the multiple reasons that you are not together already- so you do have a very real grasp of the situation.

If they preferred the wife or husband they wouldn’t be having an affair in the first place. No way round that unpalatable fact. I think you can almost always guarantee that when it comes to affairs, they prefer their affair partner to their spouse at that point in time.

I know what you are saying Bluntness but I'm not sure I agree - certainly not in all cases. Some men are utterly faithful. Some men have fallen out of love with their wives and into love with someone else. But a lot of men just want something extra, exciting, literally a bit on the side but they would way prefer to be in their comfortable homes with the wives they are used to and like/love (as far as they are capable) and their children in a lockdown. They might miss the excitement but I miss going out to restaurants too - doesn't mean I want to move into one. I suspect quite a lot of people who are just having a shag or an extended shag are perfectly happy staying at home - just missing the sex.

Anyone who has met the true love of their life with whom they want to spend eternity is far more likely to have already broken up with spouse.

TheJoyofBeingSingle · 27/03/2020 00:17

Don't you worry. People who are having affairs are already a tuned to meeting up in difficult circumstances where they need their time to be accounted for.

Lots of affairs happen at work. If a person has a job that means it can't be done at home, then it's likely the affair partner will too.

Going out for a walk and arranging to meet in the scrubland at the back of the park.

Friend has an empty flat because they are in lockdown elsewhere -please keep an eye on it for me. Meet you there.

There are lots of ways to meet up under watchful eyes if you are determined. Lockdown is likely to make those more determined.
