Black painted toe nails

Cherryblossom200 · 10/02/2020 17:50

Strange title I know! But I recently started chatting to quite a cool guy online, we had a couple of nice conversations - he a vegan etc which I respect. But when I looked at his toes he has black painted toe nails 😬

Sorry that was the end for me.

When did men painting their nails become a thing? I'm not sure about sharing the couch with a guy and having a nice joint toe nail painting sesh 😂

Bit weird but not the end of the world surely? He probably a creative type ... Grin

Guiltyfeminist1 · 10/02/2020 17:56

It would be a deal breaker for me too. I am not into that at all :p

GVmama · 10/02/2020 17:58

It wouldn’t be a turn on for me either, although I don’t really like black nails on anyone. I work at a University and a fair number of male students wear black nail varnish on their hands. It must be a thing, maybe someone who knows a bit more might be along soon!

RiftGibbon · 10/02/2020 17:58

Was it vegan nail varnish?

ravenmum · 10/02/2020 17:58

Someone trod hard on my toe once and I had a horrible black nail for months and months - covered it up by painting all my toenails black. Are you sure he's not hiding something disgusting looking like that, or like really grimy toenails? :)

CursedDiamond · 10/02/2020 18:00

I like it. But then i quite like playing around with gender norms, and am not really into super masculine guys...boys with make up is hot too...bit of glitter, bit of eyeliner. does it for me. but it doesn't have to for you. we can all be attracted to different things :-)

Rockbird · 10/02/2020 18:04

Wouldn't bother me. But then I'm very much a black nail vanish type of gal.

SidsWife · 10/02/2020 18:05

Does he have kids? My daughter used to paint my husbands nails.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 10/02/2020 18:09

My sister's DH has black painted fingernails. He also wears skirts. I can't make head nor tail of him but she likes him.

Each to their own.

Sicktiredanddown · 10/02/2020 18:09

Maybe he’s a runner, my DH is and his toe nails are black.

AnyFucker · 10/02/2020 18:12

That would make my juices dry right up Smile

You can't help how you feel

Elouera · 10/02/2020 18:13

10yrs ago guy-liner was a thing, then the hipster beards, maybe now its black nails? Confused

Cherryblossom200 · 10/02/2020 18:15

No he had painted all his nails black. When I questioned him about his nails, he said it's own of the first thing that women comment on. Clearly I'm not the only one who just isn't into it 😆

Yes each to their own. In general I try to be as open minded as possible, but men putting on make up or painting nails is a step too far.

I prefer a man to be a man 😉

I would worry it’s covering a fungal infection.

SidsWife · 10/02/2020 18:18

prefer a man to be a man

Sexist bullshit.

Pinkbonbon · 10/02/2020 18:21

Guyliner and maybe black nail varnish on fingernails I could get behind. Don't think it would be a deal breaker on toenails persay but...would probably find it really weird...and think he was trying too hard.

Sounds like he might be a bit too into himself...

That would put me off.

ravenmum · 10/02/2020 18:21

I think I'd prefer a man to be a man with black toenails than to be a man who liked women who liked a man to be a man 😂

Cherryblossom200 · 10/02/2020 18:25

I don't think it's sexist. It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

I'm just not into dating a straight guy who paints his toenails.

I've always been into the androgynous look. I would find eye liner and black nail varnish very sexy. There are as many ways of being a man as there are a woman. We obviously have a different interpretation of being 'open minded'.

MrMeSeeks · 10/02/2020 18:27

Wouldnt bother me

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 10/02/2020 18:27

I dumped a boy once coz his toenails and finger nails were all way too long and dirty-yuk!
Not dated anyone who paints there nails, but I’ve not dated for 27 years so I’m out the loop on this one.

SidsWife · 10/02/2020 18:28

Saying that he fails to be a man because he paints his nails is sexist and you know it. You can have a personal preference without denouncing his masculinity. How would you like it if he said something along the lines of you not being a real woman because you don’t shave your legs? You’d call him a sexist prick and rightly so.

swingchandelier · 10/02/2020 18:29

prefer a man to be a man is sexist. He is still a man. Do all women need to be ‘feminine’ too in your narrow book? If this a man referring to a woman it would be referred to as misogyny

Tanfastic · 10/02/2020 18:30

It wouldn't float my boat either bit each to their own.

GothMummy · 10/02/2020 18:35

Is he an old goth? DH used to paint his nails black and wear eyeliner in the 1990s. I would not find that at all attractive now to be honest though.
